Dear Parishioners and Friends, It has been an interesting week. Election Day isover and now we must work “really hard for abetter world, a more inclusive world, and for acountry that isn't scared of those searching for abetter life.” This week saw yet another mass shooting and itbrings to mind the prayer of one of my Jewishcolleagues sent after the Tree of Life Synagoguemass shooting: O God, man has turned violent, crushing lives, ending dreams, attacking theheart of another city with vitriol and hatred in anact of calculated terror. O Creator, grant perfectrest in the tabernacle of thy peace to the victimsof this act of violence. Remember with love thesurvivors of these terrors. O grant us all comfortand consolation, blessings and renewal. Give usthe strength to rebuild our society. Be with usLord and bless us. Work on the Rose Window is going well, butcompletion has been pushed back to the end ofJanuary. Why you ask, as I did?.… It seemsthat each piece of the Rose Window’s stonetracery frame is slightly different in dimensionfrom the rest, even from the pieces sharing thesame shape and apparent size. And so, theartisans must cut each unique piece of exterior glass ratherthan simply cutting all of the same shapes fromone model! Please take a look at the photos inthe bulletin this week. During the week, I was criticized for not lettingeveryone make their own decision, and Iapologize. Someone became aware of the factthat I am being honored by SNACK(SpecialNeeds Activity Center For Kids and Adults) onNovember 16th at the NY AC. SNACK is awonderful program and very much part of ourSpecial Needs Mass here at the Parish anddeserves support. If you wish further information,go to snacknyc.com Next Sunday, November 18th, after the 10AMMass in the School Library we are going to rollout the new Blessed Sacrament School. Ourbuilding on 70th Street opened in September,1919 and presently it is too small……100 yearsto the day, (September, 2019) the expandedBlessed Sacrament School will open itsdoors……come learn about it…..pictures,architectural drawings as well as coffee andsome treats, await you in the School Library. Ihope to see you next week for the big roll-out.

And then of course I have to ask…… have youbeen thinking about the Parish Appeal? It’smuch on my mind these days. Will we be ableto do it? I hope so, our needs are quite specificand important, actually, essential. Our goal is$400,00.00, as of this writing, 12 people havepledged or offered $66,650.00. A goodbeginning, but we have a ways to go…..Pleaseconsider what you might be able to do to helpin this effort……and thank you for yourunderstanding. Today marks the 100th Anniversary of thesigning of the Armstice that brought to an end,World War I. One of the bloodiest conflicts inhistory…….unfortunately, the victors sought topunish the enemy……and in 35 years we hadthe beginnings of World War II……levelerheads were able to prevail, lead by our nation……..the UN and Nato, the Marshall Plan cameto be and for 70 years peace and civility hasreigned…..pray that it may continue. Continue to pray for peace. Father Duffell

No vienen solos. Padre D’Angelo Jimenez Recursos bibliográficos A. Pagola

Padre Duffell
