Best Puppy in Show: From 1st January 2017, and for a period of one year the Kennel Club Show Regulations which stipulate

that dogs must be entered and exhibited in a breed class before exhibiting in an Any Variety Class/Stakes Class and that only unbeaten dogs are eligible to compete in the group or best in show competitions are suspended.

Where a Best Puppy in Show competition is scheduled the Best Puppy in Show is a puppy which has competed and is unbeaten by any other puppy exhibited at the same show. A puppy is a dog of six and not exceeding twelve calendar months of age on the first day of the Show. Where the Best of Breed, Best in Group or Best in Show is a puppy it should automatically be awarded Best Puppy in Breed, Best in Group and Best Puppy in Show respectively. Similarly, if the Reserve Best of Breed, Reserve Best of Group or Reserve Best in Show is a puppy which has only been beaten by an adult dog it should also automatically be Best Puppy in Breed, Best Puppy in Group and Best Puppy in Show respectively. Consequently, selection of Best Puppy in Breed, Best Puppy in Group and Best Puppy in Show must follow the selection of Best of Breed and Best in Show respectively.

a. Championship Shows Judged on the Group System 1) Best Puppy in Breed: A Best Puppy must be declared in each breed from puppies entered in the breed classes. 2) Best Puppy in Group: From 1st January 2017, and for a period of one year the Kennel Club Show Regulations which stipulate

that dogs must be entered and exhibited in a breed class before exhibiting in an Any Variety Class/Stakes Class and that only unbeaten dogs are eligible to compete in the group or best in show competitions are suspended.

Best Puppy in Group and subsequent Puppy Group placings must be selected from:- a) Those puppies declared Best Puppy in Breed provided that they are unbeaten by any other puppy. b) The puppy declared Best Puppy from the Any Variety Not Separately Classified classes in each group or on each day

provided it is unbeaten by any other puppy. 3) Best Puppy in Show: From 1st January 2017, and for a period of one year the Kennel Club Show Regulations which stipulate

that dogs must be entered and exhibited in a breed class before exhibiting in an Any Variety Class/Stakes Class and that only unbeaten dogs are eligible to compete in the group or best in competitions are suspended.

Best Puppy in Show must be selected from the Best Puppy in Group winners provided they are unbeaten by any other puppy.

b. Withdrawal from other Competition: Puppies which become eligible for Best Puppy in Group and Best Puppy in Show may be withdrawn from all other competition, other than breed classes and Best Puppy in Breed, prior to the competition for Best Puppy in Group and Best Puppy in Show as appropriate, in order to remain unbeaten. A puppy beaten in competition for Best Puppy in Group or Best Puppy in Show may subsequently be exhibited in all competition for which it was previously eligible. The dog declared Best Puppy in Show, however, must not compete in any subsequent competition. Puppies may be withdrawn from Any Variety Classes when judged before Breed Classes.

c. Proviso: For the purpose of this Regulation, dogs beaten in competition for Stud Dog, Brood Bitch, Progeny, Brace and Team or a Special Award confined to one breed will not be considered to be a beaten dog.

Club Regulation B(A); and requires a judge to declare a Best of each Group after which the exhibits so declared will compete for the award of Best in Show and Reserve Best in Show.)

1) Best of Breed: Where a breed is separately classified a Best of Breed may be declared but only from those dogs which have received a first prize in a breed class at the show. Where separate classes are provided for each sex of a breed a Best of each Sex must be declared.

NOTE: The Best of Breed/Best Any Variety Not Separately Classified award relevant to a Category 3 Breed will not be confirmed until the dog has passed an examination by the General and Group Championship Show Veterinary Surgeon.

2) Best of Group: From 1st January 2017, and for a period of one year the Kennel Club Show Regulations which stipulate that dogs must be entered and exhibited in a breed class before exhibiting in an Any Variety Class/Stakes Class and that only unbeaten dogs are eligible to compete in the group or best in show competitions are suspended.

Best of Group and subsequent Group placings must be selected from:- a) The Best of Breed winners in each group provided that they are unbeaten winning dogs. b) The best unbeaten winning dog from the Any Variety Not Separately Classified classes in each group or on each day. NOTE: The dog declared Best of Breed/Best Any Variety Not Separately Classified from a breed designated by the Kennel

3) Best in Show: From 1st January 2017, and for a period of one year the Kennel Club Show Regulations which stipulate that dogs must be entered and exhibited in a breed class before exhibiting in an Any Variety Class/Stakes Class and that only unbeaten dogs are eligible to compete in the group or best in show competitions are suspended.

Best in Show must be selected from the Best of Group winners provided they are unbeaten. Reserve Best in Show must be selected from the remaining Group winners following the selection of Best in Show.

The dogs declared Best in Show and Reserve Best in Show however, must not compete in any subsequent competition. Dogs may be withdrawn from Any Variety Classes when judged before Breed Classes.

c. Proviso: For the purposes of this Regulation, dogs beaten in competition for Stud Dog, Brood Bitch, Progeny, Brace and Team or a Special Award confined to a single breed, will not be considered to be beaten dogs.

13. Admission to Best in Show: Exhibits will not be admitted to Best in Show competition after a period of ten minutes has elapsed since the announcement that exhibits are required for judging, unless they have been unavoidably delayed by previous judging not being completed on time, and then only with the special permission of the Show Management.

14. Harsh Handling: Exhibitors must not pick up dogs by their tails and leads when lifting them. This is not acceptable. Exhibitors should note that such practice would constitute harsh handling and reports of such practice will be referred to the Committee under Kennel Club Show Regulation F11.

15. It is not acceptable to handle a dog in a manner which causes its feet not to touch the ground when on the move. Exhibitors should note that such practices could constitute harsh handling and reports of such practice will be referred to the Committee under Kennel Club Show Regulation F11.

17. Overseas Exhibitors: All dogs resident outside of the UK must be issued with a Kennel Club Authority to Compete number before entry to the show/event can be made. All overseas entries without an Authority to Compete number will be returned to the exhibitor/competitor.

18. Dogs in Vehicles on Hot Days: Your dog is vulnerable and at risk during hot weather and the Kennel Club offers the following guidance to help guide you through the do’s and don’ts travelling to and whilst at KC licensed events.

• When travelling to a show please take a moment to consider whether the route to the show is on a busy holiday route, and leave earlier to avoid increased time in traffic jams.

• If your vehicle is not air-conditioned seriously consider whether travelling to the show is a good idea at all.• The vehicle should be as fully ventilated as possible, and plenty of stops should be taken, with lots of water available to drink.• Ensure your dog is not sitting in full sunlight. There should be plenty of free flowing air around the dog.• When at the show, never leave your dog in the vehicle.• Keep the dog in the shade - take your own shade for example a large umbrella and always have plenty of water available to

drink so your dog stays well hydrated.

Page 8: S C H E D U L E ARKING FREE GENERAL CHAMPIONSHIP …fossedata.co.uk/downloads/pdf/BOST_FEB_18_Schedule.pdf · Victor Wood of Grantham, ... Your dog is vulnerable and AT RISK if left

• Avoid your dog taking part in unnecessary exertion, or from standing in exposed sunlight for extended lengths of time. Remember, if you feel hot your dog is very likely to feel much hotter and dehydrated, and this could lead to dire results. Please look

after your dog’s welfare. WARNING: IF YOUR DOG IS FOUND TO BE AT RISK FORCIBLE ENTRY TO YOUR VEHICLE MAY BE NECESSARY WITHOUT LIABILITY FOR ANY DAMAGE CAUSED. Anyone whose dog is entered at a Kennel Club licensed event should take all reasonable steps to ensure the needs of their dog(s) are met, and should not put a dog’s health and welfare at risk by any action, default, omission or otherwise. Breach of Kennel Club Regulations in this respect may be referred to the General Committee for disciplinary action under Kennel Club Rules and Regulations. Exhibitors/Competitors are reminded that show societies have the right under Kennel Club Regulation to refuse any entry.

20. Schedule Amendments: No modifications will be made to this Schedule except by permission of the General Committee of the Kennel Club, which will be followed by advertisement in the Canine Press wherever possible.

21. Change of Judge: Should any of the judges be prevented from fulfilling their engagements, the Show Committee reserves to itself the right of appointing other judges to fulfil their duties. Exhibitors are at liberty to withdraw from competition, but no entry fee can be refunded.

22. Objections: All objections must be made in accordance with the Kennel Club Regulations. Should any question arise not provided for by these Regulations or by the Kennel Club Rules, the decision of the Committee shall be final. The Committee of the Kennel Club is the Final Court of Appeal.

23. Dog Fouling: Any owner, competitor, handler or other person in charge of a dog is required to remove immediately any fouling caused by their dog(s), and/or any grooming waste, at any Kennel Club licensed show within the licensed venue and within the environs of that event including car and caravan parks and approaches. Any organisation holding a Kennel Club licensed event is required to provide an adequate number of receptacles for the disposal of such fouling and waste.

24. Disclaimer: The Committee of the Show can accept no responsibility for products advertised or sold by stand holders at the Show and remind exhibitors that grooming products on sale may not meet the requirements of the Regulations for the Preparation of Dogs for Exhibition.

25. Control of Dogs: The owner, exhibitor, handler or other person in charge of a dog at Kennel Club licensed events must at all times ensure that the dog is kept under proper control whilst at the licensed venue, including its environs, car and caravan parks and approaches. This Regulation applies before (at any time during the set up period at the venue), during the event and afterwards (at any time during the breakdown of the event).

26. Disqualification: A dog may be disqualified by the General Committee from any award, whether an objection has been lodged or not, if proved amongst other things to have been: a) registered or recorded as having been bred by the scheduled Judge, this shall not apply to a Judge appointed in an emergency; b) exhibited without payment of appropriate entry fees.

27. Identification: Every exhibitor shall ensure that whilst the dog is being exhibited, its handler shall display the correct ring number. 28. Safety of dogs: The Committee will not be responsible for the loss, detention of or damage to any dog, person or property, whether

arising from accident, or any other cause whatever, or any act or omission of itself, its officers, agents, servants, or others or the damage done by the exhibitor to any person or property.

Boston Championship Dog Show do not accept any loss, damage, or theft of any dog, tables, boxes, cages, or personal effects at this Show.

30. Safety Officer: A Safety Officer will be in attendance throughout the show. Exhibitors and spectators are reminded that just as Boston & District Canine Society has a responsibility to ensure the health and safety of all those attending their event, all those present have a duty of care for their own safety. They are therefore expected to take the greatest of care to avoid hazards which are inevitable and an integral element at a dog show. Those bringing portable items of equipment, such as folding chairs, trolleys, cages and grooming tables also have a duty of care to themselves, their equipment and their dogs. Exhibitors are also reminded they should wear appropriate footwear for the prevailing conditions on site, exhibitors show at their own risk if conditions are not ideal.

CROMESSOL OPEN STAKES For all dogs of the breeds for which the class is provided and eligible for entry at the Show.THE KENNEL CLUB GOOD CITIZEN DOG SCHEME STAKES For dogs that have achieved their GCDS Bronze Award Certificate or

above.YKC MEMBERS' STAKES Only dogs of six (6) calendar months of age and over on the day of competition are eligible for entry into a

YKC qualifying stakes class. Dogs must be on the Kennel Club Breed register to compete in a YKC stakes competition. The first placed member only in each dog group at the qualifying show will qualify for Crufts. A rosette will be awarded. If the first placed member has already qualified at a previous show, the Crufts qualification will NOT roll down. If a member is disqualified, the qualification does not roll down to the next placing. All pedigree dogs are eligible to take part provided the dog is registered on the Kennel Club Breed Register. The dog must be registered; a. Solely or jointly in the member’s name or b. In the name of a close member of the family and under these circumstances the dog must be resident at the YKC member’s address. No substitute handlers are permitted – the dog must be handled by the registered YKC member. Members are not permitted to allow another individual to show their dog at the qualifier on their behalf if they are not able to attend the class, unless agreed by the YKC Office prior to the show. In certain cases members may be permitted, through permission from the YKC Office, to show a dog that is not registered in their name, the family name or registered at their address and must write into the YKC office for permission to show which will then go forward to a Management Meeting for approval. This must be approved by the Management Meeting before entering ANY qualifier and not after the member has qualified at a show. Members must be aged 6 -24 years (members 6 years and up to, but not including 25th birthday). Please note that membership of the YKC terminates on a members 25th birthday. Therefore if a member is aged 25 years or over by the first day of Crufts they will be unable to compete in any YKC class. Please keep this in mind when entering qualifiers throughout the competing year. In order to enter any YKC competition, you must be a fully paid up member at the time of entry and competition. If you enter a Crufts qualifier and you have not previously paid your membership fee then any award will be forfeited. Therefore it is important to renew and maintain YKC membership as current if you wish to participate in YKC competitions.

YKC MEMBERS' HANDLING CLASSES Only dogs of six (6) calendar months of age and over on the day of competition are eligible for entry into an YKC qualifying class. Dogs DO NOT NEED to be entered into a breed class to participate in an YKC Handling class at a championship or open show. Any dog entered in handling only classes is not eligible to be shown in a breed/AVNSC/Variety/Stakes class at the show or compete for the Group, Best in Show or Best Puppy in Show. The FIRST placed handler only in each age group at the qualifying show will qualify for Crufts. A rosette is awarded to the first place winner. This is not a roll down competition. Handling qualifiers run from the 1st January to the 31st December for the following year’s Crufts. If a member is disqualified, the qualification does not roll down to the next placing. Classes for handling are decided by the handler’s age. The classes are divided into three age groups: 6-11 years (6 years and up to, but not including 12th birthday); 12-16 years (12 years and up to, but not including 17th birthday); 17-24 years (17 years and up to, but not including 25th birthday).

ADVISORY NOTICENOT FOR COMPETITION Societies may at their discretion, accept Not for Competition entries. Societies may accept such entries from

breeds of dog not included within the title of the Society and at Shows held over more than one day, such entries may be accepted on any day from any breed.
