The 1991 General Pediatrics Certifying Examination of theAmerican- Board of Pediatrics (ABP) will be administered on Tuesdayand Wednesday, November 12 and 13 in various cities throughout-the United States and Canada.

Application materials will be sent automatically to residents whoare in their final year~of training on Dec. 3, 1990 to the program'saddress. However, if a particular resident does not receive thesematerials by mid-December then he or she should contact the ABPand request the materials directl'y.

Applications must be postmarked by March I 1, 1991. The fee forthe examination is $900. There will be a three-part partial paymentplan for first time applicants only. The deadline for participation in thatplan is Jan. 1 1; details will be included in the' application material.

Re-registration materials will be mailed to eligible candidates inearly February. The fee is $800. 1Re-registration materials must bepostmarkedb April 1,9 1991.

Applications. or re-registration materials postmarked after thepublished-deadlines (March I for new applications and April I forre-registration materials) should include an additional non-refun-dable $200 I-ate fee before the application or registration material willbe processed. With this notice we are inviting the nominations of candidates forthe AAP Practitioner Research Award. The award will be presentedat the October 1991 AAP Annual Meeting.The Practitioner Research Award provides an honorarium of $1 ,500.Criteria for receipt of the award are as follows:.* The recilpient should have spent at least 80 percent of his or her

time in primary care in a non-academic practice at the time of theresearch.

* The research initiated and conducted by the recipient must havebeen published in peer-reviewed publications.

* The recipient should be a living AAP member when selected.* The Award also includes round trip tourist class airfare, two days

lodging, plus all actual expenses incidental to attending themeeting.The award is not intended for a group or a practce but for an
