Grateful Patient and Family Write to Express Thanks to StaffFor Skill and Loving Care Given During Hospitalization

Sometimes, in the midst of our hecticworkdays, it is easy to forget that thework we do every day has such aprofound effect on our patients andtheir families. We recently received aletter of thanks from the family ofRobert Gaylord from Harwinton,Connecticut, which they wanted toshare with the entire HartfordHospital family. It is a wonderfulreminder for us all of how much ourmindful caring means to thosewhose lives we touch.

To the Staff of Hartford Hospital:We are sitting around the dinner

table, thinking about our lives oneyear ago.

Our father and husband, RobertIrving Gaylord, was very ill with astaph infection. He was admittedOctober 26, 2009 and was in yourcare until Dec. 17, 2009.

The staph infection settled in hisneck, and soon after admittance hehad major surgery to keep his headand cervical spine stable.

The Hartford Hospital staff thathelped Bob Gaylord, was exception-al, working with a challenging anddifficult diagnostic situation, with an83-year-old man, and a family inshock.

There are so many people thathelped, our wish is to reach out andsomehow let them know that theiractions had a huge impact in our

lives. This is a success story I hopeyou all claim.

My father sits at the table eatingsteak, playing golf when weatherpermits, and driving.

We call him the miracle man, asit seemed often he was near death forweeks at a time.

Knowing him, we realized that itwas not only his unbeatable spiritand determination, nor the countlessprayers said in his behalf - it was theskill and tender loving care of somany of you.

We are sending our official andsincere THANKYOU for the

professional actions, the systemsused in your hospital, and thekind acts that merit the attentionand gratefulness we offer.

Just know that you arethought of, appreciated, andacknowledged greatly - and ourgood wishes go out to you andyour families, with hopes for a2011 filled with joy.

Gratefully,Robert Gaylord, patient
