The promotional team of the IPM 2011 spent the last week at the Toronto Farm show. Hundreds of visitors stopped by the Prescott and Russell booth to get information or to purchase a ticket for the TR6, a cookbook or one of the promotional articles. Applications being accepted for 2011 SNC Clean Water ProgramFINCH – Parmalat Canada of Winches-ter, long-time sup-porters of the South Nation Conservation Clean Water Program, was recognized re-cently at the SNC an-nual general meeting.
Parmalat Cana-da first became in-volved in the Clean Water Program from 998 to 2000, when the company contrib-uted $50,000 to im-plement best manage-ment practices and to
improve water quality. Based on the success of the first initiative, Parmalat Canada has now donated a total of $280,000 and helped fund 00 landowner water quality projects.
Applications for funding under the 20 Clean Water Program are now being accept-ed by South Nation Conservation. In op-eration since 993, the program provides a proactive approach to protecting South Na-tion water resources through funding for projects like control-led tile drainage struc-tures, buffer strips, fencing along water-ways and stream bank erosion controls. There are a total of 3 differ-ent projects that quali-fy for grants under the program.
To date, Clean Wa-ter Program grants of over $2. million have contributed to 68 projects, with an es-timated value of over $0 million. The results are significant; each year, almost 5,000 kil-ograms of phosphorus is prevented from en-tering watercourses.
