Higher Education During 2014, representatives from the Quality Assurance Agency (QAA) carried out a full review of Richmond upon College’s higher education provision.

Some of their findings are listed below:

• maintenance of the threshold academic standards of the awards offered on behalf of degree-awarding bodies meets UK expectations.

• quality of student learning opportunities meets UK expectations.

• quality of the provider’s information about learning opportunities meets UK expectations.

• enhancements of student learning opportunities meets UK expectations.

In addition, the QAA highlighted a number of instances of good practice that the review team considers makes a positive contribution to the students’ learning experience. They were particularly impressed with the college’s strong and long lasting links with employers, some of whom have worked with the college for over 30 years.

Richmond upon Thames College is delighted that the QAA recognises the college’s efforts to ensure that all HE students have a good experience and that the college meets expectations in all respects of the review criteria.

For more information visit: www.rutc.ac.uk8

Richmond upon Thames College boasts a niche provision for its higher education work focussing on graphic design, engineering and construction, early years and IT. Students were clear in their views to the QAA reviewers that the college’s provision is excellent and that they felt supported as well as stretched and challenged. The majority of the students are either in work or find employment as a result of studying at the college.

Key benefits of our higher education provision include:

• Specialist vocational programmes with a strong work related emphasis.

• Widely recognised national qualifications.

• Improved promotion potential within many organisations.

• A vital springboard for progression to university.

• Excellent opportunity to develop skills essential for higher level work.

• Good value!

LauraLaura became an apprentice through a scheme at Foster Wheeler, an engineering and construction company. She is planning to continue her studies and gain an HND qualification and hopefully forge a successful career as a design engineer - something that she feels would not have been possible without the Apprenticeship scheme and the help of Richmond upon Thames College.

PayaPaya began his IT Apprenticeship at Richmond upon Thames College after leaving sixth form at 17. On completion he joined the college’s IT department as a permanent member of staff and has since progressed to the role of Senior IT Support Engineer.

You may not need to pay fees if you are under 24 years of age, and are receiving any of the following benefits (you will need to provide proof of benefits):

• Job Seekers Allowance

• A state benefit, and you want to enter employment and need training skills to do so

You may be entitled to fee concessions if the course for which you are applying is your first full Level 2 or full Level 3 qualification.

Please contact our Finance Office / Training Solutions (020 8607 8347/8306) for further information about fee concessions.

There are no concessions on any Level 3 or Level 4 courses for students over 24 years of age; in this case you should consider the 24+ Advanced Learning Loan.
