Hello Runners! The racing season has been amazing so far. The weather is cooler and not as much humidity. It’s great seeing our members out there doing great things. We are not just a club of runners. Our members are involved with triathlons, CrossFit, yoga and more. Our club also volunteers in the community and with our local races, including the MSD Heroes Challenge and the Heart N’ Sole Race, both benefiting our strong and loving community of Parkland/Coral Springs. We hope you join us on one or more of our local runs. Check out our website and Facebook for more information. See you on the road!!! The Best Runner’s Advice

With all the great tools and technol-ogy available to runners, it is now easier for us to improve than ever before. We have an Internet full of running articles to read. YouTube can deliver any city’s marathon course for review, or place you in a high altitude training camp in Kenya to see how those folks approach training. Podcasts from coaches, run shoe experts, and our sport’s fastest pro-fessionals can give you a shortcut to information and advice that would take years to discover through your own experi-ences. It is a great time to be a runner!

All those resources are amazing, but I’m going to whittle things down and add an item to the list that may top them all. This one doesn’t plug in, need a recharge, nor will it depend on weather conditions. I say your best runner advice comes from your group, your crew, your fellow club members that share your “time on your toes.”

In the beginning, most of us align ourselves with someone who’s “already been there.” There’s a person in your run life that can offer help, advice, tips, and most of all, positive rein-forcement to you. As you grow, you may enlist or hire a coach who then fills this role. The daily encouragement from another voice can be the difference between a “good session” and “why did I even bother lacing up today.” How wonderful it is to get good advice from other runners in your group! If you’re fortu-nate, you may have a few people you can rely on. Personally, I know plenty of really eager runners that will be happy to help. PBRR has many of these positive “fire starters” in our ranks! They are on our group runs and many socialize after-ward. I encourage you to listen closely and make a move to introduce yourself. You’ll fill your mind with ideas and sugges-tions about events, training, nutrition, recovery, and more! All free, all right here among your fellow club members.

Time to buddy up, my friends.
