I'mnotarunner.IfIrun,it'sbecauseI'mtryingtostayinshapeorgetsomewherefasterthannormal.Seriously,whyrun26mileswhenIcandriveandgettherequicker?HowmanypeopletuneintotheOlympicstowatchdistancerunners?I'mguessingveryfewwillwatchlongdistancerunnerscomparedtothosewhotuneintowatchthesprinters!But,ifyouarealongdistancerunner,goodforyou!Keepitup!Yourepresentalifeof"faith"morethantherestofussprintersandnon-runners.
Faithisnotasprint!Faithismarathon,alongdistancerun...itisajourneythatwilltakeKme.
WhenIfirstagreedwithGodthatIwasasinner,andadmiOedthatIwasinneedofsalvaKon,Iprayed.IaskedforforgivenessandforGodtohelpmeliveforHim.Inthatmoment,Iwasforgiven!However,inthatmomentfaithwasnotdownloadedinacompleteformintomybrainandheart.FaithrequiresKme.Faithdoesn'tdevelopatthespeedofanOlympicsprinter,it'smorelikealifeKmemarathonrunner,whooccasionallystopsalongthewaytocatchhisbreath.
WhenyoulookintheBibleandstudythelifeofAbraham,weseeamanwhotrustedGodforyears!Hisfaithincludedleavinghishomeandmoving,visiKngEgyptwithhiswife,inconveniences,tryingtohavekidstofulfillGod'spromise,andulKmatelythetestwithIsaac.
GodtoldAbrahamtosacrificehisson.Thesonpromisedtohim.It'sanincrediblestorythatyoumustconsiderfromAbraham'sview.Wehavetheabilitytoreadtheoutcomeinlessthanfiveminutes.Abraham'sstoryofobedienceandfaithlastedthreedays!ItwasthreedaysfromtheKmeGodtoldAbrahamwhattodo,andwhenhearrivedonthemountaintosacrificehisson.Threedays...thatisalongKmetodealwiththethoughtoflosingyourson.
RememberwhenMarylostJesustodeathonthecross?AVerthreeagonizingdaysshefoundhimalive!Threedaysofdealingwithsorrow,asshethoughtshehadlosthersonforever.Fortunately,agreatending!Jesusisalive!
Faithislikeamarathon...ittakesKme,perseverance,andtrustthatGodknowswhatHeisdoing.Keeprunning,walking,crawling,andwhenyougetKred...keepgoing.Faithisnotadoubt-freecertainty.SomeKmesfaithissimplyarefusaltoquitwhenitgetshard.
