Instructions for authors
Preparation and submission of manuscripts: Authors can email
submissions in electronic form to Sarah Gibbs, Production Editor
([email protected]).
Text, tables and figure captions should be submitted as Word
files, with figures and plates as either PDFs or low-resolution
native files. If your paper is accepted then the final submission
will be expected to include the high-resolution native files for
figures and plates (e.g. EPS or TIF files).
Any editorial correspondence should be sent to the Journal
Editor (see inside front cover). Papers are accepted on the
understanding that they have not been published elsewhere and
authors (except those in Governmental employment) are required to
assign copyright to The Micropalaeontological Society. Referees are
appointed to critically assess the papers, and the editor’s
judgement is final. Correspondence in multi-authored works will be
with the first-named author, unless otherwise arranged. PDF proofs
will be emailed to the corresponding author, who must read and
correct them, returning them to the Production editor. Prompt
attention to proofs is essential to avoid delays in
publication.
Information for Authors: This documentation is currently under
revision. Contributors should follow the style of Vol 32 Part
1.
Offprints: Offprints can be purchased and an order form will be
emailed with the proofs. A PDF of your paper will be provided free
of charge. The corresponding author will be sent an e-mail advising
how to access and download the PDF.
Open Access Publishing: Authors may choose to make their article
fully Open Access (sometimes called ‘Gold Open Access’) on payment
of an Article Processing Charge. For Journal of Micropalaeontology,
the APC is £1000/$2000. There is a 50% discount for articles where
all the authors are at a research institution in a developing
country. More infor-mation on the Society’s policy can be found at:
www.geolsoc.org.uk/open-accessIf you require Open Access but cannot
pay the APC, the Geological Society also supports ‘Green Open
Access’, where you can post your final post-refereed version of the
article to a website or repository 12 months after the online
publication date. Authors must not post a typeset proof or final
version to any website or repository unless the article is fully
Open Access.

The Micropalaeontological Society was founded to further the
study of micropalaeontology. Meetings and demonstrations are held
throughout the year and the Society publishes a number of serial
and occasional publications. Membership is open to individuals and
to libraries on payment of the appropriate annual subscription
(2013 rates: Libraries £143.00; Ordinary £35, Student/Retired £20).
Application forms for membership can be obtained from the
Treasurer. The Micropalaeontological Society is registered as a
Charity No. 284013.
