Why does disposing of rubbish in the right way, matter?

• All rubbish travels across the land and then down streams and rivers when it rains and then to the ocean

• Plastic just breaks down into smaller pieces

This is Kaikorai Stream near the Sea

Page 3: Rubbish at Kaikorai Valley College

Plastic Gathers in the OceansSome

people surf and

swim in it

Page 4: Rubbish at Kaikorai Valley College

It is eaten by animals

This is a picture of a dead bird with what was in its

stomach

Some mistake plastic pieces for food and

then die from starvation

What Can You DO• Take responsibility to walk to and put your

rubbish in the bins at our school• Pick up rubbish and put it in a bin – even if it is

not yours• Buy less plastic containers and wrapping• Recycle whatever you can
