Rubber Impregnated Chopped Strands (RICS)
Overview PerformanceRICS can be used in solid rubber tyres, OTR tyres, as cross-directional reinforcement in belts or conveyor belting, or in other extruded and molded products, and in gasket/friction applications.
The RFL treatment ensures filament protection, good dispersion, and maximum adhesion to a variety of rubbers and phenolics, creating improved strength, stiffness and durability.

PackagingStandard RICS consists of continuous glass or carbon fibres with an RFL treatment (typically ~17% by weight) chopped to a “nominal” length of 6mm (other lengths may be available).
RICS is packaged in bags in 27kg boxes (38x38x38cm) with 18 boxes/pallet (net weight of 486kg/pallet).
Carbon Fibre RICS is packaged in 20 kg boxes with 12 boxes per pallet (net weight of 240g per pallet).
Carbon Fibre RICS are also
available.

RICS (Rubber Impregnated Chopped Strands) is composed of glass or carbon fibres impregnated with resorcinol formaldehyde latex treatment.
Penetration of the RFL treatment into the fibre bundle to coat virtually every filament provides very effective reinforcement of the compound once the RICS is dispersed during rubber mixing.
Enhanced directional properties can also be obtained via alignment of fibres during calendaring/extrusion.
The RICS treated glass fibres are also much cleaner and easier to handle versus untreated glass fibre.
