RUBBER DIES & MOULDS EXPO 2016

RDME (Rubber Dies and Moulds) Expo 2016 is for the FIRST TIME a concept of organizing an event focused on Tools, Dies & Moulds manufacturers has been held for adding value to Rubber Industries at large to enable them to come and to interact on a National Level. RDME Expo was conceptualized under the leadership of Mr. Vikram Makar Vice President AIRIA & Exhibition Chairman RDME and Mr. Vinod Patkotwar Exhibition Chief Convener RDME. The expo was organized by AIRIA (All India Rubber Industries Association) at Auto Cluster Exhibition Center, Chinchwad, Pune on 21st and 22nd April 2016. RDME 2016 was inaugurated in the hands of the Chief Guest Padmashri Mr. Arun Firodia, Chairman, Kinetic Group, who is a Doyen in Indian Industry and introduced revolutionary two wheelers to the Indian Demography, like the Luna and Kinetic Honda. The Guest of Honor, Mr. Nitin Tilak Head Production Engineering – Tata Motors is an admired man in the industry for his systematic and thought provoking approach. The Chief Guest and Guest of Honor gave talks highlighting the needs of industry which was highly motivating and enlightened the elite audience of industrialist from the rubber fraternity. The inauguration hall was overflowing with the presence of very large number of members related to rubber industry.

The major objective of the Expo was to bridge the gap between moulds and dies manufacturers, designers, product developers’ suppliers and users, enlarge the reach of domestic Dies & Moulds manufacturers to match the international standards aligned with the Prime Minister’s vision of Make in India. This will enable the Rubber Product Manufacturers to achieve manufacturing excellence with better Dies and Moulds and will also reduce the dependency to get better dies from other countries.

The event further provided the opportunities for the rubber fraternity to get together and to exchange ideas. It facilitated the rubber product manufacturers, raw material producers’ machinery manufacturers including very important element of Dies and Mould producers to interact and get connected and enhance the business networking.

RDME Expo had a marvelous conferences organized focused on Dies and Moulds. The key speaker for the conference was renowned and prominent expert Dr. Van Walworth of Technobiz – USA Inc who spoke on Transfer Pot Design & Injection Runner Design. Alongside other eminent speakers like Dr. Rajesh Bhide – Sr. Manager of Oerlikon Balzer India Pvt. Ltd who spoke on PVD Coatings for Dies and Moulds; Ms. Marie Alice – Sceibling spoke on laser training for moulds and parts; Mr. T. Anandan - Schill+Seilacher, Struktol GmBh spoke on semi-permanent Release Agent: The Struktol Permanalease Product Range and finally Mr. Ranjit Nandurkar – Mclube Asia spoke on Optimizations of release agents and Correct choice with applications. The success of the conference can be gauged from the fact that all the seats were fully booked. RDME Expo had a continuous flow of visitors for two days with more than 2000 visitors who visited the RDME Expo which had 45 exhibitors showcasing different verticals of rubber industry like industrial designers’ products developer, moulds designer and manufacturers, suppliers and end users particularly in MSME sector. There were a record number of Business Transactions conducted during the expo.

equipment design, process establishment & improvement, product R&D, reverse engineering,

troubleshooting, project management and spontaneous creativity. As a product design and

development specialist, most of his primary application skills are focused on products

manufactured from materials related to the rubber, plastic, and metal manufacturing industries. In

many circles he is known as "The ldeaguy" and/or as "The Rubber Whisperer". Van is an

internationally recognized technical educator for in-plant seminars, training conferences, and

university level continuing professional education programs. He is a published author of many

technical papers as well of the author of the book "Rubber Molding Principles" first published in 2013

and the creator of a series of Troubleshooting charts for processing rubber, all published and distributed by TechnoBiz. His

professional career spans over three decades holding executive management positions with industry leading companies. His

creative approach and understanding of the patent process has been instrumental in the preparation, prosecution, and

granting of twenty patents to date, with over a dozen additional US and International Patents Pending. Van is President of

TechnoBiz-USA, Inc., established in Tennessee, USA as a partnership joint venture with the TechnoBiz Group which is based in

Bangkok, Thailand. Van has a BS degree from the University of Alabama in mechanical engineering drafting and design.

Subject 1 . "Transfer Pot Design & Injection Runner Design" Course Summary : During the first portion of this seminar session attendees will be provided with many

features of transfer pot & p lunger designs, some well-known, & some not so well-known. Techniques for sealing

transfer pot leakage are presented as well as some basic rubber flow behavior princ ip les in the pot & p lunger.

The second portion of this seminar presents some princip les of injection runner designs & considerations for

runner layouts based upon rubber flow behavior. The session will be followed with a Q&A period.

Spectrosco-py(IR,UV-VIS.PL) etc. PVD Coatings for Dies and Molds Oerlikon Balzers Coating develops coatings and coating processes, markets

systems and production equipment and is the only company that provides a contract coating service. Physical Vapour Deposition (PVD) coatings such as Titanium Nitride, Titanium Aluminum Nitride etc. are not new to tooling industry. These coatings have been used for a variety of applications which result in improved performance of tools. High hardness, lower friction coefficient stability at high working temperatures is some of the properties exhibited by these coatings. In case of molds used in rubber & plastic industry, apart from these, chemical inertness of the coatings and resistance to sticking also play an important role. The presentation would introduce a new family of coatings which are developed specially by keeping in view requirements of rubber and plastic industry. Manager for Struktol Rubber Processing Additives visiting both Tyre and MRP

customers in support of Struktol Products.

Currently holds the position of Regional Coordinator India & responsible for

customers in India and Sri Lanka for support for tyre customers and MRP sector. Semi-permanent Release Agents : The Struktol Permalease Product Range. "Products have been developed for use as semi-permanent coatings of rubber and thermoplastic compound shaping moulds. We produce a range of products

which are sold under the Struktol Permalease designation. In this application the release agent coating may be applied infrequently to the hot cleaned mould metal surfaces. The coatings crosslink rapidly and result in the formation of a smooth inert surface. This surface can greatly improve the mould filling and demoulding operations due to the low surface friction and chemically inert nature. Demoulding of complex parts with undercut geometry is often only successful with such a release coating in use. In addition to improved moulding performance such coatings offer benefits in terms of reduction in the onset of mould fouling. Of course mould fouling is often inevitable, however any delay to the mould foul build-up is highly beneficial towards increased productivity. Several Struktol Permalease products are now available comprising of both hydrocarbon based solvent and, of increasing popularity water based carrier systems.
