features of transfer pot & p lunger designs, some well-known, & some not so well-known. Techniques for sealing

transfer pot leakage are presented as well as some basic rubber flow behavior princ ip les in the pot & p lunger.

The second portion of this seminar presents some princip les of injection runner designs & considerations for

runner layouts based upon rubber flow behavior. The session will be followed with a Q&A period.

Course Outline : • Transfer pot flow behavior • Bottomless transfer pot concepts

• Transfer pot and p lunger clearances • Transfer pot leakage sealing techniques

• Injection runner layout considerations • Injection runner flow behavior

• Injection sprues and gate concepts • Injection runner cross sections

• Cavity fill balancing with Vanturi technique • Runner flow prediction using Laminar Flow Ratio

Subject 2. "Registration & Tear-Trims & Parting Lines" Course Summary : During this seminar the attendee will be exposed to a deeper

understanding and appreciation of the correlation between mold plate and cavity

registration and how registration is d irectly related to tear-trims. Novel registration

techniques & innovative tear-trim technology will be presented. An introduction

to a lternative parting lines is a lso presented. The session will be followed with a Q&A period.

Course Outline : • Mold p late and cavity registration techniques • Lazy dowel pin technique

• Self-registration princ ip les • Tear-trim designs

• Over-flow designs • Nesting principles

• Specific tear-trim uses and designs • Vacuum tear-trims

• Cryogenic tear-trims • Precision flashless-like tear-trims

Speaker for conference : Dr. Rajesh Bhide Ph.D. (Physics), Department Of Physics .Pune University.

Hands on experience with various PVD coating Technologies and experience in Process Devel-opment. Worked in the fields of developing new coatings, standardization and scale up of process-es, production, R&D for new applications, establishing new industrial set up. Responsible for es-tablishing and validating Cutting LAB at Oerlikon Balzers India. Worked with various analytical equipment and techniques like X-ray Diffraction, SEM,TG/DTA, ESCA, Tribometer. Spectrosco-py(IR,UV-VIS.PL) etc. PVD Coatings for Dies and Molds Oerlikon Balzers Coating develops coatings and coating processes, markets

systems and production equipment and is the only company that provides a contract coating service. Physical Vapour Deposition (PVD) coatings such as Titanium Nitride, Titanium Aluminum Nitride etc. are not new to tooling industry. These coatings have been used for a variety of applications which result in improved performance of tools. High hardness, lower friction coefficient stability at high working temperatures is some of the properties exhibited by these coatings. In case of molds used in rubber & plastic industry, apart from these, chemical inertness of the coatings and resistance to sticking also play an important role. The presentation would introduce a new family of coatings which are developed specially by keeping in view requirements of rubber and plastic industry. The talk will also include some examples which will demonstrate advantage of using these coatings. The talk would discuss following aspects; • What is PVD ? Advantages of PVD coatings. • Various Surface and Coating solutions. • Pre-requisites for optimum performance with coated tools • Coatings Designed for Rubber and Plastics • Advantages of Coated molds • Examples

"Products have been developed for use as semi-permanent coatings of rubber and thermoplastic compound shaping moulds. We produce a range of products

which are sold under the Struktol Permalease designation. In this application the release agent coating may be applied infrequently to the hot cleaned mould metal surfaces. The coatings crosslink rapidly and result in the formation of a smooth inert surface. This surface can greatly improve the mould filling and demoulding operations due to the low surface friction and chemically inert nature. Demoulding of complex parts with undercut geometry is often only successful with such a release coating in use. In addition to improved moulding performance such coatings offer benefits in terms of reduction in the onset of mould fouling. Of course mould fouling is often inevitable, however any delay to the mould foul build-up is highly beneficial towards increased productivity. Several Struktol Permalease products are now available comprising of both hydrocarbon based solvent and, of increasing popularity water based carrier systems. Here we highlight the main characteristics and benefits of water based product range."

For years, the use of laser technology has been growing in a ll ind ustria l sectors. At the request of numerous actors in the rubber and polymer injection industry, the use of this technology to c lean injection and compression molds has been developed. Laser has the advantage of being a re liable, quic k, safe and eco-friend ly solution with a quic k return on investment : • Time savings on c leaning operations • Automation of c leaning operations • Possib ility of c leaning molds while hot • No additional consumables • Low maintenance requirements of the machine

Paper topic : Laser cleaning for molds and industrial parts: the advantage of the MLC500

Speaker presentation : LASELEC is a laser and electronics specia list designing and manufacturing wire processing equipment. LASELEC has developed a rapid and effic ient a lternative to traditiona l solutions for c leaning industria l parts a nd rubber/polymer injection molds: the MLC 500.

We have the trust of many com panies like AIGLE INTERNATIONAL Freudenberg, etc . And we are c urrently running test for several enterp rises on their molds for them to acquire this technology.

To present this technology, LASELEC is represented by Ma rie-Alice SCHEIBING. She will be the voice of this new and innovative technology. She is working for LASELEC since 201 4 and had helped to develop the market of LASELEC machines a ll over the world .
