Description
The Robotic Total Station (RTS) System is designed to remotely monitor X, Y and Z movement in or around a variety of structures.
Our system uses a variety of Robotic Total Stations paired with any compatible target types, one or more Dataloggers and our unique RTS control software.
The data is fully automated and is best incorporated into ‘ARGUS’ Monitoring Software to provide a fully remote contactless solution.
Soil Instruments design and manufacture a wide variety of RTS podiums and hanging brackets with various levels of security and weather protection to suit site specific environments, plus a numerous range of targets, including heavy duty and low profile vandal and damage proof prisms, rail track clips and 360° prisms.
With all these unique features, itmsoil provide a fully automated, robust and durable data acquisition system, tailored to meet your individual site requirements.

ApplicationsOperation
Robotic Total Station Systems are ideal for any project where remote monitoring of X, Y and Z coordinates are required.
They are particularly suited to structural monitoring including:
• Buildings likely to be affected by large civil works• Underground tunnel monitoring and bridge monitoring• RTS’s can be used on façades that need to be protected,
such as historic or architecturally important buildings, with little to no damage caused to the structure
Applications of the Soil Instruments RTS Systems are almost limitless.
The Robotic Total Station (RTS) is connected to a datalogger and both are securely attached to a structure; its associated targets are attached to the same structure or surrounding structures. A site specific program is installed on the datalogger and all necessary set up is performed.
The prisms are located so there is no interference when reading. Ideally at least three reference prisms must be available outside the zone of influence.
The data is downloaded to the datalogger and most commonly uploaded directly to ‘ARGUS’ Monitoring Software.
We offer installation and monitoring services to support this system. For more information please email : [email protected] or call : +44 (0) 1825 765044
ADDITIONAL SUPPORT
As the correct installation of any monitoring sensor or system is vital to maximise performance and accuracy, Soil Instruments makes the following recommendations, for the skill level of the installation contractor.
