CR8165: Class of Service for Recipient Range Routing

Page 2: RT CR8165

2COS for RARR

Functionality

• The “Class Of Service (COS) for Recipient Address Range Routing (RARR)” functionality includes RARR in the COS access control scheme.

• Any RARR range can be equipped with a COS service identifier (COS_ID).

• This RARR range COS_ID will be evaluated during Recipient COS (RCOS) validation of messages, for which RARR has been applied.

• Messages that do not comply to the RCOS access control settingswill be rejected by the SMSC upon submission.

• This is new functionality for SMSC V 5.2.

Functionality (2)

• During RCOS evaluation of messages, for which RARR has been applied:

– the COS service identifier (COS_ID) of the “recipient service provider” (i.e. the RARR range),

– is matched with the RCOS access control settings of the “service client” (i.e. the message originator).

• In case the recipient is a Large Account:

– the COS_ID [1] of the RARR range(if defined) has precedence over the COS_ID [2] of the Large Account;

– likewise, the COS_ID [2] of the Large Account (if defined) has precedence overthe COS_ID [3] of the Delivery Interworking.

Functionality (3)

• During RCOS evaluation of messages, for which RARR has been applied:

– the COS service identifier (COS_ID) of the “recipient service provider” (i.e. the RARR range),

– is matched with the RCOS access control settings of the “service client” (i.e. the message originator).

• In case the destination is some Mobile recipient in a Network:

– only the COS_ID of the RARR range is involved in the RCOS access control validation.

• RCOS evaluation for network recipients (non Large Accounts) is new functionality.

Functionality (4)

• Determination of the RCOS access control settings of the originatorwill take place according to the existing COS mechanism.(This includes e.g. COS settings from the subscriber address group and subscriber profile.)

• RCOS access control for messages destined to network recipients is new functionality. RCOS was restricted to Large Account recipients prior to this feature.

Configuration example

• To enable COS and RARR (both licensed options) for the SMSC:– PML> SET CLASS COS_COMMON /COS_ENABLED=ON

– PML> SET CLASS SMSC_COMMON /RECIPIENT_ADDR_RANGE_R=ON

– PML> SET CLASS SSD_COMMON /MAX_RANGE_SHORTNUM=10

• Add some Large Account (LA) that participates in COS and RARR, e.g.:– PRL> ADD LARGE_ACCOUNT 3333 1.1.1.1 SMPP_TCPIP /SYSTEM_ID=LA3333 -

– _PRL> /COS_RESTRICT=YES /TCOS=0xFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF –

– _PRL> /RARR_ALLOWED=YES

• Add some subscriber that participates in COS , e.g.:– PRL> ADD SUBSCRIBER 0031664640001 –

– _PRL> /COS_RESTRICT=YES /OCOS=0xFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF /RCOS=1

7COS for RARR

Configuration example

• To add some RARR range that participates in COS, e.g.:– PRL> ADD RANGE 3000-3100 SHORT_NUMBER LA 3333 /COS_ID=27

• Documentation for additional configuration information:

– SMSC 5.2 Operator Manual.

– SMSC 5.2 PRL User Guide.

Installation

• The COS for RARR functionality relies on the installation of both the COS and RARR licensed options.

• No additional installation is needed.

Troubleshooting

• Trace possibilities

– The rejection of submitted messages due to this functionalityis shown in the SMSC tracing of the involved SSD entity.

• Error reply

– The error reply of the SMSC to the message originatorindicates that the message is RCOS restricted.

Test

• Quick verification

– Install and configure the COS and RARR licensed options.

– Create a Large Account and RARR range (that routes towards the Large Account) and apply the RCOS service settings as stated in the configuration example before.

– Configure the RCOS access settings of a subscriber NOT to support this RARR RCOS service.

– Submit a message from the mobile, addressing the RARR range.

– Verify that the submission is rejected.

• Acceptance Test Procedure (ATP)

– COS007.

• RARR licensed option 069 is required.

• COS licensed option 233 is required.
