1. INTRODUCTION

1.1 Property Location

The EMS Property is a group of 55 claims comprising 71 units and 2840 acres, which is located across the boundary of Bryce and Tudhope Townships, District of Tamiskaming, in the Larder Lake Mining Division southwest of Engelhart, Ontario (Figure 1). This report summarizes geological mapping of claims 1118593 found in the northeast quarter of the south half of Lot 11, Concession IV and the adjacent northwest corner of the south half of Lot 10, Concession IV and 1202652 found in the eastern half of Lot 10, Concession IV as illustrated in Figure 2.

1.2 Access

Access to the property is gained from Highway 560 via the Hill Lake Fish Hatchery road, from which a maintained gravel road branches west to the farm of Greg Bloomberg. Access to claims 118593 and 1202652, located approximately 1,600 metres southwest of the farm was gained via a dirt road extending from the driveway of Mr. Bloomberg, as permitted through an agreement between Diamond Rock Resources Ltd and Mr. Bloomberg. This road extended right to the northern edge of the claim and was suitable for access by four-wheeled all-terrain vehicle.

1.3 Property Ownership

The EMS Property is jointly held by three partners, John Ewanchuk of New Liskeard, Ontario, James Morris of Engelhart, Ontario, and Frederick Swanson of Regina, Saskatchewan. The property is currently the subject of an option agreement between the partners and Diamond Rock Resources Inc. of Ottawa, Ontario and Las Vegas, Nevada, U. S. A. Title to claims 118593 and 1202652 rests with the Crown, according to the Haileybury Land Titles Registry Office.

1.4 Previous Work Summary

The Engelhart - Elk Lake area was first prospected after the discovery of silver at Cobalt, Ontario in 1903. In Bryce Township efforts first concentrated on the southwest, where the geological setting of Archaean Metavolcanics, Gowganda Formation and Nipissing Diabase is similar to that found at Cobalt (Johns 1986). Modest gold extraction ws carried out in Bryce Township at this time, but became more active in the late 1920s. After the discovery of gold on the Estival Property on the present claim 1185652 gold exploration increased ans has been intermittently carried out until today.

1955-6: Red Lake Mines Ltd drilled 23 diamond drill holes along the Palmer-Vaughn-Estival Break, with the best assay reaching 1.28 oz of gold per ton over a width of 1.2 feet.

1967: Trihope Mining and Exploration Ltd carried out magnetic, electromagnetic, and geological surveys over part of the EMS block.

1972-3: Consolidated Boeing Holdings and Resources Ltd carried out further geophysical and geochemical surveys over parts of the EMS block.

1974: Julius Nielsen excavated a 45 m long trench on what is now 1185652 containing vein quartz and pyrite. Bulk sample assays returned 0.074 oz/ton Au and 133.99 oz/ton Ag.

Julius Nielsen carried out a VLF electromagnetic survey across claim 1185652.

1975: Rip van Winkel Syndicate carried out electromagnetic, magnetic, and self- potential surveys that included part of the EMS block.

1978: Staking and exploration of Crown lands in the area was halted by the Bear Island Aboriginal Land Caution.

1986: MacAdam Resources carried out preliminary drilling of two NW shear zones.

1990: Bryce Township was reopened for staking.

1992: The Ewanchuk-Morris-Swanson partnership (EMS) carried out ground magnetic and VLF-EM surveys, prospected, sampled, mapped and subsequently drilled eight diamond drill holes, demonstrating strike continuity over 5 km for the main gold-bearing zones along the Palmer-Vaughn-Estival Break, with mineralization to at least 100 m depth.

Page 8: RPT ON WORK PERFORMED ON CLAIMS 1118593 & 1202652 …

1996: The EMS property was optioned to Diamond Rock Resources Ltd of Ottawa, Ontario.

Diamond Rock Resources Inc of Ottawa, Ontario and Las Vegas, Nevada, U.S.A. became the successor to Diamond Rock Resources Ltd.

1.5 Regional Geology

The EMS property is located in the southernmost limit of the Abitibi Greenstone Belt, approximately 2 km southeast of the margin of the Round Lake Batholith (Figure 3). The part of the EMS property addressed in this report is underlain by several thousand metres of interbedded Early Precambrian massive mafic metavolcanic flows, pillowed flows, and interflow mafic intrusions, which belong to the Catharine Group (Johns 1986). The mafic and generally fine grained metavolcanic rocks strike 650 and dip steeply to the southeast and form a homoclinal sequence with younger Skead Group felsic pyroclastic rocks which appear approximately l km to the north of claims 1119593 and 1202652. The Britcanna Porphyry, a dacitic feldspar-phyric intrusion, outcrops l km northeasterly of the claims. Johns (1986) indicates that this intrusive body is chemically similar to, and possibly genetically related to, the Skead Group, Numerous porphyry dykes intrude the mafic metavolcanic rocks, and may be related to the Britcanna Porphyry. The latest Early Precambrian lithology is an inmetamorphosed diabase unit which occurs as northeast-trending dykes through the metavolcanic package.

To the south, west and east the Archaean metavolcanic package is unconformably overlain by Proterozoic sedimentary rocks of the Cobalt Group of the Huronian Supergroup. The sedimentary rocks are intruded by sills of Nipissing Diabase, which form topographic highs in the area.

The EMS property is cross-cut by two distinct sets of faults. One of these appears to be nearly strike-parallel (NE) and includes a major fault, the Palmer-Vaughn-Estival (PYE) break. This fault can be traced for more than 10 km from the southwest, where it passes under Huronian sedimentary rocks, to the northeast, where it reaches the major regional Cross Lake Fault. The PYE Break is accompanied by several regularly-spaced parallel faults, approximately 800 metres apart. Airphoto lineaments include topographic lows and strike-parallel steps with strike extents of several hundred metres, suggesting geological control of the topogaphy in areas where the outcrop is scarce. Part of the PYE Break has been intruded by Britcanna-related porphyry dykes. The general pattern suggests that the Archaean stratigraphic boundaries have provided weak planes along which early faulting occurred, providing passageways for later intrusions and possibly hydrothermal mineralizing fluids.

A second set of younger faults crosses the EMS property with an average trend of 3400 . These appear to have been less important in providing passageways for later mineralizing fluids

but some of them do have associated porphyry intrusions and quartz veining. The Britcanna Porphyry displays evidence of both structural trends, being foliated in a northeast and a yojunger northwest direction (Johns, 1986).

Gold mineralization appears to be associated primarily with carbonatized sheared rocks and with pyroclastic breccias. All northeast-trending shear zones are of interest, especially the PVE Break. Known mineralizations, such as the Briscoe-Bryce prospect, occurs along the northeast-trending shear zones and consist of disseminated pyrite (sometimes massive) and chalcopyrite and quartz-carbonate stringers. The source of the mineralizing hydrothermal fluids may be large altered feldspar porphyry bodies, such as the Britcanna Porphyry, which channeled their fluids through proximal northeast-trending structures, as suggested by Johns, 1986.

2. CURRENT WORK

2.1 Line Cutting

Greg MacBride of Haileybury, Ontario, was engaged by Diamond Rock Resources Ltd to cut lines over much of the EMS Property in the spring of 1996.

2.2 Geological Survey and Mapping

A party led by of Dr. C. H. Hale surveyed the geology of claims 1118593 and 1202652 during the summer of 1996, and one of this party drew the geological map (Figure 4) in September 1996.

Page 12: RPT ON WORK PERFORMED ON CLAIMS 1118593 & 1202652 …

3. RECOMMENDATIONS

This property lies 0.5 km to the northeast of the Heather Lake property, which is known to contain gold showings, and 800 meters to the east of Honeymoon Lake, another gold-bearing property. The current survey indicates the presence of structures that may represent continuations of these. Diamond drilling on both claims may indicate if this is the case. In addition, I recommend undertaking a geochemical and a more extensive geophysical survey, especially magnetic mapping, which has proved so fruitful on the Heather Lake property.
