ministry in Ghana. But at the same time, I feel myself overwhelmed by the grace of God and the magnitude of this journey. It wells up inside me as it did with Jeremiah, who said, “His word is in my heart like a fire...shut up in my bones. I am weary of holding it in; indeed, I cannot.” (Jeremiah 20:9) I’ve always wondered why God made me so sensitive. Fortunately, at the Lott Carey Baptist Foreign Mis-

sions Convention in 2011, God gave me at least part of the answer. During a presentation, Dr. David E. Gotley ex-plained that mission has four charac-teristics, none of which can function in absence of the others: evangelism, compassion, empowerment and advocacy. Perhaps in my “wimpiness” there is really compassion that God can use for his purposes. I am so thankful God gave me arms and legs for my tears, and that through my weakness he has made me strong.
