DAY 1 – ARRIVAL TO LAPLAND

Arrival to Rovaniemi (apt RVN). Local guide welcoming the group at Rovaniemi

airport

Transfer by private coach to hotel, transfer duration 15 minutes.

OPTIONAL: SNOWMOBILE SAFARI TO THE CITY

Outfit delivery to the airport (for this we need sizes in advance; weight, height and

European shoe size).

Head directly from the airport to the untouched Arctic wilderness, where you can

immediately feel liberated from the stress and hectic pace of your everyday life. A real

surprise to begin your Lapland adventure with: a snowmobile safari right from

modern Rovaniemi Airport to the wilderness of Lapland! Change into thermal safari

outfits at airport premises and proceed to snowmobiles. After instructions of driving

technique and safety rules you will start the first part of your Lapland adventure. Two

person share one snowmobile, taking turns in driving. Drive through snow covered

forests to today’s destination – Rovaniemi town and your hotel! Luggage has been

delivered directly to the hotel.

cozy interior with personal service in a relaxed atmosphere. 54 unique and well

equipped rooms in five different categories: 24 x Magic, 14 x Arctic, 6 x Polar, 6 x

Aurora Loft and 3 x Suite. Large lobby area will be an excellent place to wind down

from an active day in Lappish nature and a great spot for get-togethers

Wild berries, herbs and vegetables play an important role at Artic Light Hotels

Restaurant Arctic Boulevard. Beef comes from a nearby Highland cattle ranch, fish

and seafood from lakes of Lapland and Arctic Ocean. Restaurant uses seasonal

ingredients. Restaurant seats 65 clients. Dinner of three courses with coffee/tea

will be served.

DAY 2 - FULL DAY SNOWMOBILE SAFARI TO HUSKY AND REINDEER

FARM - DINNER AT SNOWLAND

Finnish buffet breakfast is served in hotel restaurant.

SNOWMOBILE SAFARI

Meet your safari guides in hotel lobby and proceed on foot to pick up helmets from

Safari Club and continue further to nearby snowmobile parking place.

Shortly after briefing of driving technique and safety rules you start your day with

snowmobile safari right from the city centre. Two persons share one snowmobile,

taking turns in driving.



This is a modern way of moving in the snow-covered woods and has become also a

part of everyday life for the Lapps. First driving on frozen river to test your skills,

and then mastering the basics follow your guide into forest trails which will take

you to local Reindeer farm.

REINDEER FARM

First upon arrival the mysterious welcome ceremony will take place in the dusky

“kota” building. See the reindeer living in the farm and meet the herders and learn

about the life cycle of Reindeer. The personal certificates will be delivered. Then

everyone can try his skills in reindeer driving and obtain an official driver’s licence,

valid for five years!

HUSKY FARM

After reindeer farm short walk to husky farm nearby. Arriving to the Husky farm

where friendly huskies welcome the group.

For centuries, people living in the Arctic have relied on a strong and tenacious

partner; the Arctic sled dog, the husky to transport the catch of the hunt or

medicines in harsh condition across inaccessible terrain. This trip gives you

opportunity to experience something unique; the ties between the musher and the

dogs formed on a joint expedition into the wilderness. You soon learn that behind

its icy-blue gaze is a friendly canine character who works closely with people.



Everyone can enjoy a husky ride in a sledge hauled by the husky team. Sleighs are

driven by mushers (valid in 800 meters rides, in longer tours customers drive

themselves). After ride you will have a cup of warm berry juice and biscuits while

listening to the facts of huskies and their live here at the Arctic Circle.

Traditional Lappish lunch, main course with coffee/tea and dessert is served at the

FOREST MANOR restaurant. Forest Manor was originally built in the Pajusaari

district of Kemi in 1926 as a home for the factory owner. The massive wall logs of

the manor and large windows have stories to tell about Finland in the 1920s. In

2011 Forest Manor was restored to its former glory and relocated to the Arctic

Circle in Rovaniemi.

After lunch return back to town by snowmobiles. Duration of the program 6 hours

Private coach transfer to the SNOWLAND for dinner. Transfer duration 10 minutes.

Snowland is lighted with fires and lanterns and the dinner is served in a real Igloo

restaurant. Guests are sitting on benches covered with reindeer pelts and the

dinner is served on tables made of ice. The roof of the igloo is like a starry sky. Due

to the temperature of -3 Degrees, safari clothing is necessary to guarantee full

enjoy of the unique restaurant.

DAY 3 – SAMPO ICEBREAKER BY COACH – LUMBERJACKS THEME

After breakfast meet your safari guide in hotel lobby. Board the waiting coach for

transfer to Kemi. Transfer time ca 2 hours.

Climb on board and say hello to ship’s friendly staff of SAMPO ICEBREAKER

Shortly after boarding and welcome drink it’s time to take part in the presentation

of the vessel, and to see how the ship crushes both solid and pack ice meters thick.

Guided tour takes you for a visit to Commando Bridge, engine room and decks.

Three course Lunch is served in ship’s cosy restaurant. After lunch you can

experience an arctic swim - a dip in the icy sea, safe and warm in wet-suits, of

course!

SUPPLEMENTARY IN KEMI: Visit to world famous SnowCastle in Kemi is in program

either on the way to the Icebreaker or after the cruise. At SnowCastle you can get

familiar to hotel rooms, made totally of snow! During the day time there are no

customers and therefore you are able to see each room type, some of them with

beautiful snow decoration on walls. At SnowChapel you can sit down for a while and

enjoy the silence – unless you are lucky and are able to witness a SnowWedding! Cup

of hot chocolate (not included to the rate) in the SnowRestaurant before returning to

your coach

Transfer by coach back to Rovaniemi, duration ca. 2 hours.

In the evening coach transfer to POROPIRTTI FOR LUMBERJACKS’ THEME

DINNER. Transfer duration 15 minutes.

Feel the patina of over 100 years old logs, big fireplace, Lappish experiences and

excellent food – The Log Cabin Poropirtti has everything for a successful functions

being it a lunch or dinner. Poropirtti is a traditional log cabin which was built

already 1887. Over 100-years old log walls create cozy atmosphere and those walls

have heard many stories of lumberjacks and loggers.

In the beginning of 19th century this kind of cabins offered temporary home and

resting place to lumberjacks. The traditional Lappish life included also hunting,

fishing and of course reindeer herding.

Hospitality was the natural thing in many cabins in wilderness of Lapland – this

same hospitality we wish to offer to you also – enjoy the good food and cozy

atmosphere.

Upon arrival at the restaurant you are welcomed by your lumberjack host &

hostess. Welcome drink in Lumberjack style – Vodka shot – is served. The service

staffs are also dressed accordingly. Everyone receives funny Lappish – English

dictionaries and the Finnish name to be used through the evening.

Dinner 3 courses with coffee/tea will be served.



After dinner competitions are arranged in sawing and hammering – best will be

awarded! Throughout the evening Lumberjacks’ staff invite the guest to have a

taste of Finnish dances of Jencks & polka!

shirt together with an invitation letter to a real lumberjacks’ evening signed

DAY 4 – RALLY OLYMPICS BY COACH – DINNER AT SANTAMUS


Coach transfer to the Rally Site, duration 15 minutes.

Rally Olympics program includes races with rally car, cross car and Funny car.

Program fits for small as well as for bigger groups. During this action packed

program you have a chance to feel speedy moments in a real rally car under

professionals’ control. Driving instructor will give you valuable hints how to handle

the vehicle in exotic winter conditions.

Session starts with practice laps with an instructor, who

sits in the co-pilot’s seat and can give you valuable hints

for driving on the snowy and icy conditions. As soon as

you are more familiar with the rally car, it is time for the

competition!



Funny car is special designed car which does not act as you

expect. When you turn the steering wheel to the right, the car

goes to the left and vice versa. Does not sound too difficult, but

try out yourself… it will be much trickier than you think but we

guarantee that you will hop out from the car with laugh!

On a snowy and icy track you can throw the snow and test

the functions of cross car in winter conditions. How special

made cross car turns from the side of snowbanks? …This you

will find out driving yourself!

Ice-karting is an exciting and truly fun go-kart race on ice.

Skill and composure is the key here. Even though we use

spikes on tires, you will still get the feeling of going sideways!

Everyone gets a turn in each activity and at the end of the program we will see who

the fastest driver of the day is! After 1 – 2 practice laps it is time for the

competition! When the flag swings it is time to start the race! The clock is ticking,

who will be the champion? Prizes for the three fastest drivers will be awarded.

SUPPLEMENT: Stunt show: Have you ever wondered what you can do safely with a

car? After the show you will know! Rate from 260 €/net/group

Lunch will be served in an exclusive restaurant VILLAMARIA, only five minutes

transfer time from the tracks.

The unique VillaMaria is a traditional log-built farmhouse on the shores of the

Ounasjoki River. History of the house dates back to beginning of 1900 when it used

to serve for example as shop, post, school and tavern. Main building seats 92

persons.

After lunch short tranfer back to your hotel. Program duration 5 hours



Dinner will be served in SANTAMUS which could well be described as a “restaurant

of sensations”, tempting all five senses. Santamus is situated 15 minutes coach

transfer from the city centre.

Upon entering the log house you “forget” the time and place, as this is a whole new

world for you. Snags, a gurgling brook, natural spruce trees on the shore of a pond;

where trout swim, fireplace fires glow in the dim light…the feeling and scene make

newcomers rub their eyes.

Matti Korva, a versatile musician born in Rovaniemi, is the man behind the

Santamus experience concept. Matti is a multiinstrumentalist who handles

kantele, accordion, piano, percussions as well as instrumental saw. After his

studies in Sibelius Academy Matti has been working as a music instructor and a

producer of musical events. He is known as an inspiring figure utilizing music to

elevate the team spirit of many events of both national and multinational

companies.

In the Matti Korva Show you will listen to instruments you may have never heard

before such as the the Finnish national instrument “Kantele”. You will also get the

chance to learn how to play an instrumental saw. Everyone gets the opportunity to

find their own musicality and to share the joy of succeeding as a member of “The

Dream Team Orchestra”. Matti makes sure that you are the stars of the show. You

can expect beautiful music with lots of interaction and many fun and surprising

moments.

DAY 5 – DEPARTURE VIA SANTA CLAUS VILLAGE


Check out, return safari outfit to Safari Club, just few hundred meters from your

hotel.

Santa has chosen this magic line of Arctic Circle to be the place for his office. Meet

the man in person and tell him your wishes - by the Christmas time you will see, if

you have been good. Free time for shopping at Santa’s shopping gallery, and why

not sending your regards home from Santa´s Main Post Office with a special

stamp.

After visit to Santa Claus Village, short coach transfer (10 minutes) to the airport.

Restaurant is situated in the city centre of Rovaniemi and seats some 85 persons.

Nili offers Lappish delicacies and warm atmosphere. The furnishings are genuine

Lappish handicraft and materials such as Lappish wood, reindeer horns and

reindeer leather feature strongly in the design. The cornerstones of the restaurant

are pure Lappish and Finnish ingredients and the food is prepared with heart and

soul from start to finish in their kitchen.

BEAR´S DEN

Wilderness Lodge BEAR´S DEN, Karhunpesä in Finnish. This high-grade log house

is built 1967 is situated 30 minutes from the city of Rovaniemi. Its history is written

by many remarkable visitors, one of whom was Urho Kekkonen, the President of

the Republic of Finland 1956-1981.

Kekkonen was a regular guest in Karhunpesä during his presidency. There he

hosted many important statesmen such as Lyndon B. Johnson (the President of

the United States), Carl XVI Gustaf (the King of Sweden), Golda Meir (the 4th Prime

Minister of Israel) and Leonid Brezhnev (the Soviet leader).



After discovering the place Kekkonen considered it to be a perfect place for his

purposes. Secret negotiations between nations could be held there – far away from

the bustle of the city and curious ears. Both dining and the peaceful picturesque

nature were something to match the dignity of the president himself.

Kekkonen’s personality and the numerous stories of his visits colour the history of

Karhunpesä. Good Finnish food and Sauna vere important to the president. That’s

why we in particular focus attention on dining and Sauna experience. We want our

guests to enjoy the steam and the delicious food just as much as the president did!

ARTIC SNOWHOTEL

The Arctic SnowHotel is an entire world of snow, an experience destination that

provides an exotic possibility to spend the night sheltered by snow and

surrounded by picturesque and placid Lappish nature and to experience Arctic

specialities.

Temperature inside the room is some -5 Degrees but warm, for arctic condition

meant sleeping bags will keep you warm. While sleeping you need only long

underwear and thin hat. Overall and shoes will be left next to the bed. Fresh air will

guarantee good sleep! Morning breakfast will be served in the warm LumiKartano

restaurant. For luggage there is a separate luggage area as we don´t recommend

to bring anything extra to your room. Toilets, showers and evening sauna are

situated in a warm place, close to hotel rooms.

GLASS IGLOOS

Welcome to enjoy norther lights in Glass Igloo! Aurora alarm guarantees you won´t

miss them, even they would appear in the middle of the night. All Igloos have all-

sky vision, heated windows and are equipped as normal hotel room, with shower

GOOD TO NOTE!

All programs are weather permitting. All the items are subject to availability at the

time you request the space. We reserve the right to change the rates in the event of

increase of taxes, fuel costs or similar beyond our control.

INCURANCE

All the snowmobiles, cars and forest scooters are insured as required by the

Finnish Traffic Insurance Act. This insurance covers medical care for injuries to the

driver and the passenger arising from accidents. Personal injuries and damages to

other parties while driving a snowmobile, car or forest scooter are fully covered

according to the Finnish Traffic Insurance Act. Lapland Safaris is not liable in

general for personal injuries or material damage arising from accidents during

other games and activities such as husky sleigh safaris, reindeer safaris or other

excursions in which snowmobiles or quad bikes are not involved. Personal travel

insurance is therefore highly recommended.

SELF LIABILITY

Safari participants are held liable for damages caused to snowmobiles, forest

scooters or cars. Each vehicle driver must put down a damage deposit on the spot

upon their arrival, by cash or credit card, if other arrangements have not been

made in advance. The amount of the deposit is EUR 980,- for snowmobiles and

forest scooters and EUR 1 830,- for cars. The customer must notify Lapland Safaris

in advance about who (each participant individually or the orderer or company) is

going to be held responsible for self-liability. The self-liability is mentioned during

the driving lesson before safari/car driving activity begins.

DRIVING TERMS

The driver of a snowmobile must be 18 years old with a valid driving licence, forest

scooter driver has to be at least 18 years old with a valid driving license. Children

under 2 years old are free of charge and children under 15 years old get a discount

and they are then allowed to sit on a sledge pulled by a snowmobile. Children

under 15 years old are seated in a sledge pulled by snowmobile and are given

helmets.

Driving a snowmobile or forest scooter under the influence of alcohol or any

narcotic products is prohibited by Finnish law. As the responsible safari organizers,

we reserve the right to change the routing and duration of the excursions if

necessary, according to the prevailing weather and snow conditions, or if deemed

advisable for the sake of safety and the comfort of the participants. We also reserve

the right to discontinue the safari if a participant is seen as a potential danger to

him/herself or to others, or is in poor health.
