The RotoFlex Sit and Rise bed which allows you to get out of bed unhindered.

Sitting up and sitting on the edge of the bed can produce invisible obstacles if you have

limited mobility or if you cannot use your full muscle power for health reason. To date these

obstacles have only been overcome with external help.

The RotoFlex Sit and Rise bed overcomes the invisible obstacle which separates lying in bed

from life beyond the bed. Four powerful, reliable motors lift you gently to the bed edge at

the press of a button.

The RotoFlex Sit and Rise bed moves you from a reclining position to a sitting position on the

bed edge. You are now ready to stand up or to move, for example, to a wheelchair.

The RotoFlex Sit and Rise bed is also a rehabilitation and care bed to facilitate active and

passive mobilisation.

The long-term bedridden can be mobilised into the sitting position without having to leave

their bed, similar to normal mobilisation in chairs in a care situation.

Sitting the patient up and mobilising him is easy and does not strain the back of the carer or

the patient.

The RotoFlex Sit and Rise bed is designed for use in the patient’s domestic situation and for

care homes. It is used instead of slatted bedbases in existing single and double beds.

The patient‘s normal private environment is maintained.

It is possible to lead an independent life again or to receive care at home.

To support you when sitting up, you can manoeuvre the RotoFlex Sit and Rise bed‘s lying

surface into the sitting position. Now you can either stand up, be helped to stand or sit as in

an easy chair.

By being in the sitting position you can face the room and be more fully involved in your usual

environment: sit with relatives, watch television, have a view towards the window, etc…

You can control all the movements of the RotoFlex Sit and Rise bed using a remote-

controlled device. You can move the 5-part lying surface infi nitely to your desired lying

position.

The RotoFlex Sit and Rise bed fulfi ls all the functions of a complete care bed. It is free-

standing, completely stable and does not not wobble. When used as a double bed, the

carer can gain access to you from all sides. The RotoFlex Sit and Rise bed can be adjusted to

wheelchair height for transfer.

The innovative design of the RotoFlex Sit and Rise bed and the hygienically clean

materials have proved for years that the excellent level of quality is maintained even after

Sit and Rise bed – available in two versions

• The RotoFlex RO-1001E is a stand-alone system, which we supply either as a bedframe

module for an existing bed or as a complete bed with bed frame in different wood fi nishes.

It is also possible to supply a bedframe module for a double bed. Please note, however,

that the bedframe edge on the side you get out of bed must be lowered to a height of

20 cm otherwise it is not possible to operate the turning function for the vertical position.

You can also fi t an existing side panel with our special lowering fi tting so that the side of the

bed is only lowered to allow the patient to stand up.

• The RotoFlex RO-1002P Sit and Rise bed on castors under which other equipment can be

rolled and which is particularly suitable for patients who need further aids, such as a lifter, to

transfer them from bed to the wheelchair, for example. When the bed has manoeuvred the

patient into a sitting position, he is in an optimal position for transfer and the carer‘s work is

made easier. We also recommend this version for care homes where beds need to be easily

moved.

This version is also available with a bed gantry, which is, however, not usually necessary for

mobilising the patient in the RotoFlex bed.

The RotoFlex RO-1002P is also available as a double bed.

Both versions of the RotoFlex should be fi tted with one or two grab handles to support the

patient to stand up independently. The grab handles can be swivelled upwards so that they

are not in the way when transferring the patient from the side of the bed. Orders should state

to which side of the bed the handles should be attached and the number of handles

depending on the patient‘s symptoms.

In addition, both versions of the RotoFlex must be fi tted with a special RotoFlex mattress,

which for safety reasons is anchored to the RotoFlex and comes in two parts. This is the only

way that we can guarantee that the feet are suffi ciently supported when lying down and that

the feet reach the fl oor properly to allow the patient to stand. All our mattresses are 11 cm

thick and are covered with a high-quality incontinence cover. This protects the interior of

the mattress from moisture, and is at the same time breathable, elastic and washable. The

interior of the standard mattress is made of R 35/45 foam, which is comfortable to lie on and

gives good support. We aim to achieve a high level of comfort on a viscoelastic mattress, it

has point-by-point elasticity and is light and is the best fi t for the RotoFlex’s lavish moulding.

If you require a cold foam mattress with TEMPUR support for decubitus prophylaxis, we can

also supply an alternating air pressure mattress but due to the good general mobilisation of

patients in the RotoFlex bed, is it usually not necessary.

There is a choice of various mattresses for the RotoFlex Sit and Rise bed. Whether these

be cold foam, tempur or visco-elastic mattresses, all have a removable, breathable and

PU-covered incontinence cover with a zip fastening on 3 sides and an anchor system. This

prevents the mattress from slipping when it is moved into the various lying, sitting and vertical

positions.

Mattresses can be supplied in the following sizes: 90 x 190 cm, 90 x 200 cm, 100 x 190 cm

and 100 x 200 cm. A size of 120 x 200 cm and many other special sizes are also available.

– Information for doctors

The RotoFlex Sit and Rise bed is a medical aid in compliance with the German Medical Product Law (MPG) and the German Code of Social Law V (SGB V) § 33 (Aid device no. 19.40.03.3001) and the German Code of Social Law XI (SGB XI) § 40 (Care aid device no. 50.45.03.3001).

The RotoFlex has been used for many years very successfully in domestic and institutional

care situations. With the RotoFlex Sit and Rise bed, patients regain the ability to get out of bed completely independently or with minimal support. The patient can participate more actively and more frequently in life and he moves more regularly.

The aim of medical therapy and treatment is to increase and maintain the patient’s levels of mobility. This requirement is fulfi lled in many ways when the RotoFlex Sit and Rise bed is used and is therefore a prescribable aid device in accordance with SGB V § 23.1. Patient experience verifi es that with the Rotofl ex bed in addition to physical help, important psychological support is also received.

Doctors are specialists in diagnosing and determining therapy for patients. It is their respon-sibility to prescribe aids which are suited to improving and maintaining their patients’ physical and mental/psychological health. (SGB V § 23.1.1 + 3; SGB V § 27.1 + .2). This includes the reintegrating the patient as extensively as possible in his world to reduce psychological stress.

Prescription:Doctors must check assistance aids before prescribing them to fi nd out about their basic functions in order to best support the therapy and treatment of patients. These basic

functions are to be indicated in the prescription or appendix. Prescribing the RotoFlex Sit and

Rise bed in accordance with the instructions given by health insurers can be considered when:

• there is an indication for an insertion frame or care bed with lying height adjustment,• requirement for the lying surface to be able to swivel and put into a sitting position,• other measures or alternative provision options are ruled out,• the insured patient is able to get into/out of bed independently when using the

product.

The aids prescribed by the doctor do not affect his/her budget for medicines and remedies.

Prescription example:bed-in-a-bed system with electrical-mechanical aid for standing up (aid device no. 19.40.03.3001 and care aid device no. 50.45.03.3001) in accordance with the appendix.

Example of certifi cate:Mr/ Ms..... is on account of his/her present symptoms is at present not, or only rarely, able to get into and out of bed without help. In order to ensure an acceptable provision of care, it is necessary to have a bed which will raise Mr/Ms and put him/her into a sitting position and which will manoeuvre him/her from a sitting position into a lying position. The mobility of Mr/Ms… will be maintained and may even be increased as a result, or will be achieved for the fi rst time. The patient will not require constant help from others when getting in and out of bed.

– Indications

The RotoFlex Sit and Rise bed is an aid which is indicated for patients,

• who cannot sit up on their own in bed or cannot move themselves in bed to get out of bed

or mobilise or sit on the edge of bed

• who have to be moved without damaging the carer to allow them to stand up or mobilise

• for whom home care must remain possible by using the RotoFlex Sit and Rise bed,

reducing the physical strain on the home carer

The benefi ts of having a RotoFlex Sit and Rise bed are:

• the mobility of the patient is maintained or increased

• the on-going effort of caring for the patient is reduced

• pressures resulting from lying down for long periods are reduced

• mental agility and physical mobility are supported

• the long-term bedridden patient re-establishes a day-night rhythm by changing his lying

and sitting position

The Indication for the RotoFlex Sit and Rise bed applies to all illnesses and handicaps where

the patient does not have freedom of movement to stand up from a lying or sitting

position either with or without help. This is because he has problems with his joints,

decreasing muscle strength or pain and his mobilisation needs may physically overtax the

carer‘s own health.

e.g. with the following syndromes:

rheumatic symptoms, multiple sclerosis, osteoporosis, Parkinson‘s, hemi, para, tetraplegia,

Apallic syndrome, fi nal stages of Aids, fi nal stages of cancer, heart failure

In cases of physical weakness, the RotoFlex Sit and Rise bed aids rehabilitation and

mobilisation.

• to facilitate independence in standing up

• to facilitate and support standing up in cases of severely limited movement, and stress on the lumbar vertical spine and the joints

• for patients who are easily exhausted

• in cases of spasms occuring as a result of passive movement

• for mobilisation for patients suffering from Apallic syndrome

• for mobilisation in extreme symptoms of pain when passive movement occurs

• sitting position, e.g. in cases of heart failure

• to stimulate circulation without transferring to an easy chair

Patients who are no longer able to stand up alone require intensive mobilisation at least twice

a day (sitting in their chair). Moving a patient from the bed to a chair is carried out by one or

two members of the care staff. The time required to do this requires approximately 5 to

6 minutes twice a day per carer.

With the RotoFlex Sit and Rise bed, the

patient can stay in bed as the RotoFlex Sit

and Rise bed can be moved into a sitting

position by using a hand-held device. This

means that the patient can sit up in bed or on

the edge of the bed in the same way as he

would sit in an easy chair or on a chair at a

table. Many patients can operate the

RotoFlex Sit and Rise bed without assistance,

meaning that they do not need a carer to help them to sit up. Mobilisation can then be

achieved several times a day. If the patient does not have the mental capacity to use the

control device, only one carer is needed for mobilisation.

As only one person is needed to care for bedridden patients, carers do not have to arrange

times to mobilise patients together. In addition, the RotoFlex Sit and Rise bed can also be

operated by the patient’s visitors. This means that the RotoFlex Sit and Rise bed requires a

maximum of one carer for mobilisation. This saves at least half the costs associated with

mobilisation (one carer instead of two).

The RotoFlex Sit and Rise bed is well worth the initial fi nancial outlay as it saves time and has

other positive advantages:

It is no longer necessary to acquire a conventional nursing bed which does not correspond

to technical standards.

Carers no longer have to carry out heavy physical lifting and so the risk

of recurring inability to work and

premature termination of their career is avoided

PhysioFlex Rise bed

PHYSIOFLEX® Rise bed – the care insertion bed, suitable for your bed at home

The PhysioFlex Rise bed is a height-adjustable insertion care bed which can be simply and retrospectively built into new or existing bedframes with standard insert frames for use both at home or in the care home environment.

It more than fulfi lls all the functions required of a care bed – while preserving the look and feel of the patient‘s usual private environment.

The PhysioFlex Rise bed is free-standing, completely stable and does not wobble. It lowers to at least 28 cm and can be adjusted to a height of 38 cm allowing it to be used as a standard bed as well as a care bed. The ground clearance can be adjusted infi nitely so that lifters can also be inserted beneath the bed.
