    Newsletter No. 6/19-20 Date: 03.09.2019

Fundamentally, Rotary is a philosophy of life that undertakes to reconcile the ever presentconflict between the desire to profit for one’s self & the duty and consequent (parallel) impulse

to serve others. This philosophy is the philosophy of Service – ‘Service Above Self’ and isbased on the practical ethical principle that ‘One Profits Most Who Serves Best’.

    Live with Honor

To live with honor means to strive to do your best in all aspects of your life. It means living withcourage, integrity, purpose, and dignity. Above all, to live with honor means pursue excellence in allthat you do, and ultimately, to make the most of your life and time in this world.

When you live with honor people know your behaviour is reliable, your heart is in the right place andyour word is as good as gold. Accept personal responsibility. Be prepared to accept the consequencesof your actions. Knowing what’s right is not as important as doing what’s right.

    Let Love Find You……………

“There is only one happiness in life :To love and be loved.”Life is for love. There is nohigher purpose in life than tolove and be loved. Love givespurpose and meaning of lifeand makes it worth living. Each one of us is capable ofloving & being loved. Everyone craves to love and beloved, but do we love ourselves ?The way we love ourselves, portrays, who we are. Ifwe don’t love ourselves, we cannot love others & beloved in return. Find love within before seeking itoutside. The obvious reason is : Express your love, don’t import it instead of seeking love, find it. Don’twait for love, generate it.One simple truth about love is that we can’t makepeople stay in love. We can’t force them to love us,But we can be happy loving ourselves and acceptingothers as they are because love is in us. Like agarden, we need to tend, pull away carefully theweed that might take away the nourishments itneeds.

ULTRASOUNDWHAT IS ULTRASOUNDUltrasonography or ultrasound is an investigation whichhelps your doctor [Technically a radiologist], to lookinside your body and assess various organs by anautomated machine. It is just like a camera, which cansee through your skin and can evaluate the internalparts of the body which cannot be seen by naked eye.

WHAT CAN BE EVALUATED BY ULTRASOUND:Because it is just like a camera, it can be used tovisualize almost anything in abdomen. Most commonlyit is used in cases of abdominal pain to find a cause. Itcan diagnose anything wrong with your liver, kidneys, gall bladder, pancreas and the urinary system. All of us might already know its great utility in findingstones in gall bladder and kidneys. In elderly patients, itis commonly used for prostate evaluation. Many early cancers of abdomen are also detected byultrasound.

WHY IS ULTRASOUND DONE IN PREGNANCY:Pregnancy is a vital time, both for mother and the baby.As far as mother is concerned, we can see her, run herblood tests and can record her weight to see whetherher growth in pregnancy is normal. But the developingbaby cannot be seen by naked eye, nor we can runblood tests on developing baby.Ultrasound tells us about the developing baby, itsgrowth and whether it is normal or not. In short, ultrasound can often tell you majority of the thingsbefore he/she is born and can also be used to foreseecomplications of pregnancy.

IS ULTRASOUND PAINFUL OR DANGEROUS:Ultrasound is a completely painless and harmlessinvestigation, with no obvious adverse effects on anybody parts, proven till date. It hardly takes 5 minutesfor a routine examination.

DO I NEED AN ULTRASOUND:All of us do need an ultrasound, at some point in ourlife. If you have long standing abdominal pain, unexplained weakness or any other lump or mass inbody, ultrasound is the single most important screeningprocedure. It can detect majority of abdominal diseasesand can also help to guide timely management

EARNINGRESPECTHere are some tipsthat can help youearn more respect.

    1. BE KIND.Always be polite to everyone you meet during the day, from yourspouse and children to your co-workers. Give others the same respectyou’d like to receive yourself. Seek out actions you can take to offerpoliteness. Smile and say please and thank you whenever possible.

    2. ACT RESPECTFULLY.Eliminate non-respectful behaviors such as rolling your eyes, concentrating more on your cell phone, or talking over someone. Notonly are these actions disrespectful of the person you’re interactingwith, they deter or prevent further involvement or resolution of issuesEveryone deserves to be heard, even if you don’t agree always withone’s ideas or opinions.

    3. LISTEN WELL.Listening is an active process, not a passive one. Actively listen bytaking your own opinions and thoughts out of your mind, andactually hear what the other person is trying to convey.

    4. BE USEFUL.People earn respect by always being ready to lend a hand or an earwhenever they’re needed or notice an opportunity to help. Look foropportunities to help that you might have previously overlooked. Takeresponsibility and do things without waiting for someone to ask forassistance. See how many times you can be helpful in a day.

    5. DON’T MAKE EXCUSES.Your actions are based on your choices, and barring some unforeseencircumstance, there is no reason for excuses. Own up to your mistakesand instead of dwelling on them, look for opportunities to move pastthem and commit to doing better.

    6. LET GO OF ANGER.Holding on to anger or a grudge doesn’t hurt anyone but yourself.Allow yourself to be angry momentarily, then move beyond it toeither rectify the situation or put it behind you. It doesn’t help to dwellon a situation. Not to mention, the stress will cause anxiety and maybeeven cause health problems.

    7. BE WILLING TO CHANGE.Being stubborn won’t get you anywhere. Realize that the process ofevolution includes change. Make an effort to grow as a person; learnnew skills, try new activities, and especially, re-examine yourautomatic behaviors. And don’t forget to congratulate yourself onprogress you make along the way to becoming a better person.

PEM-IPEM-I, organised at Crown Plaza atGreater Noida on August 31 & Sept 1,2019, was an innovative, meaningful, enjoyable and most comfortablemeeting. It was no doubt a spectacularand memorable event. CongratulationsDGE Alok and Rty’ne Shivani. Good andmeticulous work performed by his team.

Kudos! Team 20-21. We areconfident PE Rtn. (CA) AbhishekJuneja must have also received veryuseful inputs.
