Grand Bahama ROD Facility Clean Water Need

Current and Future Needs: Ensure clean water is accessible and

distributed to more than 40,000 people.

Ability to assess needs throughout island and Northern Bahamas and plan wide distribution of water, food and clothing accordingly is imperative.

Recent Past: Three (3) devastating hurricanes during 2004-

2005 seasons. Over 75% of homes damaged. Storm surges sent debris and sewage into

existing fresh water reservoirs; making it undrinkable

Potable water was unavailable for many days; some Grand Bahama inhabitants went as long as 3 weeks without clean water.

Fair and wide distribution based upon need did not occur.
