Rotary Club of Eugene Delta

Chartered in 1970, Eugene Delta Rotary supports both the International Rotary Foundation and the Delta Rotary Foundation.

The club has supported international projects in South Africa, Russia, South America, and Ethiopia.

Locally, Delta helped establish the Owens Rose Garden, started a 24/7 Host Home Project with Looking Glass, and originated the Great Rotary Duck Race.

Delta Rotary Foundation

The mission of The Delta Rotary Foundation (DRF) is to complement the international Rotary Foundation by focusing on the local community and its youth.

Funds are used as cash grants to high school seniors from Sheldon, Marist, and the MLK Education Center for their college education.

A recent gift to the foundation has enabled expanded scholarship opportunities. Students can now apply for a DRF scholarship in each of their 4 years of college.

The Great Rotary Duck Race! - 2012The 25th anniversary of the Duck Race saw many Delta

Rotarians helping out in boats (the Duck Race Navy) and on the banks of the river. A key addition this year were the Sheldon

Interact Club members that helped out with shore patrol!

Peace River Andrew Grant 2011Delta Rotarians Allen Gardner and Mark Allen spearheaded the Andrew Grant project that awarded funds from the estate of Dorothy (Andrew) Wittmeyer and

Gray Wittmeyer to a worthy charity in Peace River, Canada. After reviewing several worthy projects, the Peace Regional Outreach Campus alternative high school was awarded the grant, which will be used to purchase and renovate a new building that

will replace inadequate leased quarters in a local clinic.

Ethiopia Assistance 2012Delta Rotarian Patric Campbell led two projects in Ethiopia, the first to collect and ship medical equipment collected throughout Oregon, the second was to collect

and distribute over 125 shoes donated by Delta Rotarians over a four-week period. The medical donation project was supported by a $1,500 District 5110 Simplified Grant and benefited a Mother and Children’s hospital built by Holt International.

ShelterCare Assistance 2012Delta Rotarian Randy Clemm organized a project to support ShelterCare in West

Eugene to paint, stripe the parking lot, and spruce up the playground. Delta Rotarians were joined by several Sheldon Interact students, who truly impressed Randy with their energy and helpfulness. Also highlighted here are homemade

thank-you cards made by children at the location.

Rose Garden Restoration 2012In September, several Delta Rotarians provided much needed maintenance of the Owen Memorial Rose Garden, one of Eugene’s treasures. The Rose Garden has long been a key community service project for Delta Rotary, and this year was no

exception as Deltarians painted sheds and improved pathways.
