A few words from

Pastor Chris...Greetings in the name of Christ!

May has two very special events. The first is Mother's Day, on May 10th. We honor those very special ladies in our lives who have given us life and nurtured us through our early years. These are women who have sacrificed much to make sure we had things that we needed to have a happy and healthy life. God honors mothers as well. We know from scripture that Jesus was very close to his mother and even made sure she would be taken care of after his death, as recorded in the Gospel of John 19: 25-27. “Now there stood by the cross of Jesus His mother, and His mother's sister, Mary the wife of Clopas and

Mary Magdalene. When Jesus therefore saw His mother and the disciple whom He loved standing by, He said to His mother, “Woman, behold your son!” Then He said to the disciple John, “Behold your Mother”. And from that hour, that disciple took her to his own home.” So, you see that Jesus himself cared for and looked after his own mother even while he was hanging on the cross. And so, we honor all woman, whom God made in His image and say “Thank-you” for all you do and all you have done and also, we remember those mothers who have gone on to glory. We will all be together again in heaven.The second big event in May is Pentecost, which we will celebrate on Sunday, May 17th. We will have Communion during video church on YouTube. Pentecost is the 50th day after Resurrection Sunday. The word Pentecost literally means “fifty” in Hebrew. It is one of the three high holy days in God's religious calendar. The three are Passover, Pentecost and Feast of Tabernacles. God instructed the disciples to stay in Jerusalem until He sent the third person of the Trinity upon the earth, which is the Holy Spirit. Therefore, God is always present with us, even in time of trouble. It is an example of what is going to happen in the tribulation period when God will pour out the Holy Spirit on His elect so that they might speak prophecy to the whole world and all who hear will hear it in their own language. This is written in Mark 13, Matthew 24 and Joel 2. In as much as a sacrifice was required at Pentecost, we partake in Communion on this feast day, as instructed by God's Word. Finally, my plan, unless the Governor changes his order, is to return to having church in person at the church buildings

on Sunday, June 3rd. I know some people may want to continue to stay home. That is a decision you will have to make, but we will be open for those who want to come to the physical church to worship. I also plan to return to Bible study that same week. Bismarck on Tuesdays at 10:00 a.m. and 6 p.m. and Rossville on Thursdays at 10:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. We will start with a new book, the book of Romans. Very important book which reveals God's grace and teaches us about predestination and God's elect. You won't want to miss it!! In His Service,

*This coming Sunday, May 10th, I will be giving all ladies a flower for Mother's Day.   I will be in the parking lot of both churches.   All you need to do is drive up and I will hand you

your flower and you can drive on. You can stay in the car and stay socially distanced.   I will be at Rossville from 1:00 - 2:00

p.m. and at Bismarck from 3:00 - 4:00 p.m.   Come and get your flower and see Pastor Chris!!

most recent. Simply click on the sermon and the video will begin playing. I will continue to tape my sermons every Sunday for you to view and participate in worship. The video sermon will be ready for viewing every Sunday by 9:00 a.m.

Cathy is the only one who will see the direct responses on Remind, but she will forward them to all the group.

All requests are welcome.  Please respect the person's privacy and make sure the info you send is correct.  Requests are preferred to come from family members or close friends.  3.  Please pray for the people when you receive a request.  4.  Updates are greatly appreciated.  We like to know when our prayers are answered and we love prayer praises as well as concerns!  5.  Church news is welcomed as this is a very quick way to inform the congregation of needed info!    6.  We have some people who do not text.  If you would like to be a "pass it on person" and would be willing to let one of these people know via phone, let Carrie know and we will match you up.  If you are a person who does not text, let Carrie know.   7.  Pray for no more crashes please!!

General and Annual ConferencesThe Illinois Great River Conference has given notice that the General Conference, which was to be held in Minneapolis in May, has been postponed to August. 31-Sept. 10, 2021.

The Illinois Great Rivers Annual Conference Session to be held on August 14-15, 2020 at the Peoria Convention Center.

Karen Wall from Bismarck UMC and Rose Holycross from Rossville UMC are our Representatives to the Annual Conference in Peoria.

Deiter Weisgruber turned 7 on May 2. His family and several church friends celebrated with a birthday parade led by the Boyer family on a hayrack!Parades around town for celebrations and by teachers to honor their students have become a regular site during the stay at home order for coronovirus. People step out of their homes to enjoy the parades!

Mustard Seed News:  Thank you to everyone that has contributed to the Furnance replacement. New heating and air conditioning is currently being installed. A lot of fun stuff is happening at the daycare. Painting, lots of cleaning inside and out, new mulch has been added to the playground. After the stay at home order has been lifted, the Daycare will hold an “Open House”. A date and time for the open house will be announced at a later date. We are excited and looking forward to seeing everyone again soon!
