In Cultural History class, seventh graders learn about the glyph-based writing system employedby the ancient Maya. In their Visual Arts class, they create their own glyphs, imitating the Mayastyle by incorporating animals and symbols that are important to them, as the Maya did.
The 2013–2014 year was an exciting time at Ross. Our progressive RossSchool Spiral Curriculum continues to offer an unparalleled educational experience, pushing us to rise to the challenge of being innovative and forward-looking as we, with help from so many of you, work to support the peopleand programs at Ross. As we move forward with another stellar year, weunderstand that Ross School’s success is nurtured by those of you whocontribute your time, talents, and resources. We are most appreciative!
Every August, Ross faculty and staff come together for the Ross InstituteSummer Academy—three weeks of reflection, in-depth planning for theschool year, and engaging presentations from our founder Courtney SaleRoss, mentors, and world-renowned experts. The theme for our Academythis year was sustainability and taking action in our local and global communities. In response to moving exchanges with invited guests andscholars, we closely examined the sustainability thread in our curriculum anddeveloped ideas for furthering students’ understanding of this critical issue.
As we continue to strive to provide the highest quality of education for ourstudents, we are ever conscious of incorporating worthy initiatives and effective practices so that we remain groundbreakers in the field of education.Won’t you join us by helping sustain the incomparable Ross experience forour students, both today and for generations to come? As you review yourphilanthropic plans, we hope Ross School is high on the list of your priorities. After all, as Benjamin Franklin once said, “an investment in education paysthe best interest.”
The following annual report provides a financial overview of Ross School’s2013–2014 fiscal year, as well as highlights of some of last year’s successfulcommunity events.
Thank you again for your dedication and continued generosity in supportingthe special opportunities extended to our Ross students. Your contributionsassure that we are able to provide the best education possible for our learners, one that values their individual talents and honors their development ascreative thinkers and achievers across all disciplines.
With gratitude,
PATTY LEIN JEANETTE TYNDALL
