Rosetta Stone Language Training Frequently Asked Questions

Why should I nominate an employee for language training?

Employees who frequently work with international colleagues and employees working on a special cross-functional project might be good candidates for Rosetta Stone language training. Additionally, any employee in the U.S. whose native language is not English but might benefit from additional English language training could be a candidate.

How do I nominate an employee?

To nominate employees, first read the application instructions and fill out the application and send it to Employee Development. Employee Development will submit the application to your Senior Vice President or Country Manager for approval. Once approval is received, Employee Development will set up the account in Rosetta Stone and send a welcome email to you and your employee. Click here to access the nomination form.

Can I nominate myself?

All requests need to have manager approval before they are submitted to the Senior Vice President or Country Manager. If you are interested in Rosetta Stone training, please discuss with your manager and have your manager submit the application, or send an email with your manager’s approval.

How long does an employee have access to Rosetta Stone once signed up?

Once signed up for Rosetta Stone, an employee has access for one year to complete the language levels you assign.

What is a language level?

The Rosetta Stone program uses five different stages, called language levels, to help learners get as much as possible out of the language training and to measure his or her progress. Level 1 focuses on building a foundation. Level 2 consists of navigating the new language surroundings by talking about the environment. Level 3 is about connecting with the world. Level 4 helps learners deepen their understanding and Level 5 develops command of the language by refining communication skills. Each level takes about 40 hours of training to complete.

At the completion of each language level, employees will receive a notification email that they are now able to advance to the next level of their language training.

Available Levels English: Levels 1 – 5 French: Levels 1 – 5 German: Levels 1 – 5

Hindi: Levels 1 – 3 Portuguese: Levels 1 – 3 Spanish: Levels 1 – 5

How is the training measured?

Training is measured by completion of the language levels assigned to the employee. To complete each level, employees must complete the exercises, and then complete the “milestone” or multiple “microstones” associated with that level, which are given a score. Employees must achieve a minimum score, which vary by activity, in order to complete the exercise.

What happens if my employee isn’t doing the training or can’t complete it by the deadline?

You and your employees will receive regular reminders from Employee Development if they are not doing the training. Each time these reminders are sent, you will have an opportunity to reevaluate whether your employees should continue with their language training. If your employees aren’t able to complete their training by the one-year deadline, please contact Employee Development to discuss available options.
