Leading the winners in the Rein for the Roses was Matt McDowell, who record- ed a 74 in riding Wimpys Lil Melody for Bret Christensen to the $500-added Open Division title. Tied for reserve were Mike Boyle on Careena Laney’s Revolutionic and Christian Rammerstorfer on his Maddox— both with 73.5. Tied for the $300 Limited Open title were Nev Devine on Danny Pesusic’s Peptos Silver Holly and Susan Majauskas’s Smart Movin Maserati with 70.5 scores. Devine and Peptos Silver Holly also took the Prime Time Open crown. In Saturday’s big Derby competition, Tracer Gilson scored a 146.5 on Lauren Crivelli’s Rebas Best Stop Yet to take the $3,000-added Level 4 Open, earning $1,824. eir win was a half-point ahead of reserve entry Load Your Gun, ridden by David Hanson for owner Giselle Turchet. e sec- ond-place winnings were $1,368. Non Pro Cam Essick had a great run on her Who Loves You to score a decisive win in the $2,000-added Level 4 Non Pro Derby, taking home $1,082. Stacy Hamilton was reserve on her Whiz I Was Smart, earning $859. Sunday’s top Non Pros included Non Pro and Non Pro Prime Time winner Debbie Murnan on Chromer Simpson, Intermediate Non-Pro champion Sandy Bentien on Make It With A Twist, Limited Non Pro winner Tessa Lindberg on Chicadero, and Masters Non-Pro winner Larry Armer on Simply a Babe. ELK GROVE—Take 2013’s second NRHA Affi liate show, mix in some well-fi lled aged-events, and top it off with a tradi-

tion of fun, and the West Coast Reining Horse Association had another winning mix at the the Rein for the Roses, held Kentucky Derby weekend May 2-5 at Brookside Horse Park.

Leading the winners in the Rein for the Roses was Matt McDowell, who record-ed a 74 in riding Wimpys Lil Melody for Bret Christensen to the $500-added Open Division title. Tied for reserve were Mike Boyle on Careena Laney’s Revolutionic and Christian Rammerstorfer on his Maddox—both with 73.5.
