How to apply to International/Postgraduate/MPhil and PhD

You should clearly show your prior degree-level subjects and provide an academic reference from your current institution.

Considerations for applicantsMeeting Rose Bruford’s entry requirements?

We strongly believe that everyone should have an opportunity to consider higher education and therefore encourage applicants from diverse educational backgrounds. Qualification at ‘A’ level or equivalent is therefore only one of our measures – we also attach great importance to the interview and audition process, which is why we invite almost all of our applicants to attend an interview or audition and, where appropriate, give candidates the opportunity to provide a portfolio of work. The main criterion for offering a student a place at the College is that we are satisfied that you have the potential to complete your chosen programme of study.

We will positively consider all applications from candidates with the new Level 3 qualifications in the UK. Full recognition will be given to relevant key skills, Advanced

Subsidiary (AS) and vocational qualifications. We particularly value evidence of independent learning.

Ideally, you should apply between 1 September and 15 January. Late applications, up until the end of June, should still be submitted in the normal way but unfortunately we cannot guarantee to offer you an interview or audition.

All who apply before 15th January deadline will have an interview or audition. Most interviews and auditions are held between January and April, so please make yourself as available as possible during these months.

Rose Bruford College works with a number of partner institutions. If you are a student of one of these, then your audition fee will be waivered. Further guidelines can be found on the website for auditions requirements and a list of partner institutions.

Contact us: +44 (0)20 8308 2600 or by email: [email protected] Find us: www.bruford.ac.uk, Rose Bruford College or @rosebruford

Mature applicantsIf you are a mature applicant (aged 21 or over) you may not have to meet our formal requirements. We welcome applications from individuals with a range of qualifications and previous experience and will positively consider all applications from mature students. Mature students might also consider our Part-time Theatre Arts Programme, Part-time Acting Programme and our distance learning programmes.

Transferring from another institution or seeking accreditation of prior (experiential) learningIf you wish to transfer from another institution onto a full-time programme at Rose Bruford College and would like your academic credits to count towards your new programme, then please apply via UCAS.

Disabled and dyslexic students. We recommend that applicants disclose their disability on their UCAS form and to the College before they attend for interview so that any adjustments, if appropriate, can be made to the interview process.

It is in students’ interests to allow information to be passed on in order that staff can make the necessary reasonable adjustments and so that discussions can take place with teaching staff at interview about possible adjustments to assessment if necessary.

BA (Hons) Costume Production*

“ I have been employing Rose Bruford Costume Production graduates on our summer tour (and occasional autumn forays), one after the other, for over 16 years. It has been an absolute pleasure. It’s not easy coping with an opera tour, on the move, perhaps no more than 10 hours between shows, keeping opera singers happy but orderly, their wigs and hair dressed and costumes steamed, ironed and smart, and (most important) always with a cheerful demeanour, whatever the backstage stresses. I’m sure I’m not the only employer who never recruits from anywhere else.” Freddie Stockdale, Founder/Manager Pavilion Opera
