CropLife Founda- tion’s StewardshipFirst™ initiative defines crop protection stewardship as the ethical management of a pesticide’s life cycle, from the product’s cre- ation to its distribution and sale to the approved disposal of the container. Through the develop- ment of cooperative relationships with other na- tional trade associations, grower groups, consumer advocacy organizations and regulatory bodies on the federal, state and local levels, CropLife Stew- ardshipFirst™ actively promotes the sensible use of pesticides through container management, agri- cultural warehouse accreditation and responsible use programs and practices. Rooted in Stewardship and Innovation CLA supports all farming practices that help grow safe and healthy food for communities around the world. From large to small, conventional or organic, consumers have choices at the grocery store that help keep their families healthy without breaking the bank. Crop protection prod- ucts created by CLA members serve all farming system needs. With the assistance of the innovative crop protec- tion and biotechnology tools our members produce, farm- ers today are able to grow more food for more people around the world. In fact, one U.S. farm is able to grow food for 155 people, representing a 262 percent increase from 63 years ago. Crop protection products also help support one of the country’s most valuable exports: food. Agricultural exports continue to soar and represent approximately $152 billion 1 in value. Through continued innovation and improvement, the crop protection industry creates sustainable solutions that help farmers protect valuable resources and elevate the health of the nation.
