Dear Parents This is certainly an exciting time for our students preparing for our Athletics carnival and recently competing at the Interschool Cross Country. I would like to congratulate all the participants for their dedication to long distance running and doing their best on the day with some fantastic results which are mentioned later in the newsletter. Thank you to Mrs Williamson who spent several mornings training along with the students. I am pleased to advise that our hard working P&C have donated the proceeds from the Lapathon $5000 to our Phys Ed department and have also recently donated $10000 to support our refurbishment of the school library and to install screening on the boundary fence of our Early Childhood Grounds. We thank them very much. I would ask that if any parents have time to assist in any of the events held by the P&C, even for a short time, this would be very much appreciated especially with the faction carnivals coming up in Week 8. It was lovely to see the parents at the official opening of the Early Childhood adventure playground opened by the School Board chair Mrs Emma Pene. Our Year 6 students will soon be heading off to camp and I would like to acknowledge the teachers for all their efforts in putting together such an exciting itinerary for the students. I am sure they are going to have a sensational time and will be talking about the experience for some time afterwards. The recent disco was a huge success and many thanks go to all the staff who volunteered to make the night fun for everyone who attended. Mrs Sue Knight - Principal Hello everyone, We have had a few exciting events happen in our Centre over the last week. Three of our classes had students participate in the WADSA carnival yesterday with their fellow Education Support Centre peers, everybody has reported they thoroughly enjoyed the day. Last Friday we had some of our students attend their first blue light disco having a great night dancing and singing along to the songs. I would like to take this opportunity to thank our volunteer staff members who gave up their free time to supervise at the disco. Whilst we are thanking people I would also like to extend a large thankyou to Gary and Karen Barnes from Cost Plus in Mandurah, Gary and Karen were kind enough to donate large quantities of stationary and children’s dress ups to our Centre, we appreciate this donation immensely. Just a reminder to parents that if you have not yet paid your child’s deposit to the Landsdale camp Years 4-6 this is due now, please pop into the office and see Mrs Barrodeen or Mrs Lucken if you need to talk about a payment plan. Important date to remember: ESC Photo Day - Wednesday 15th August. Mrs Morrison - Acting Principal

Well done to Room 15 for their wonderful song ‘Eat It’ by Weira Al and how they presented their speeches with

some hilarious jokes and interesting facts. They have been working on their dance routine with Mrs Robinson as

part of their Dance program. Their song fit perfectly with their current Health topic learning about the different

food groups and what we should be eating. Room 15 would also like to thank their amazing parents who

provided food and were able to come along to share in the morning tea after their assembly.

Room 18 Kindy Green Group was lucky to have a lesson with one of our wonderful Mums, Mrs Erin Bell. With her excellent gardening skills we planted vegetables and flowers in the vegie patch. Over the coming weeks we will

observe how plants

grow!

Thank you for your support by leaving the plants alone so

they grow.

I wonder what will

grow first?

Come along at recess outside Block 3 for something yummy. All cakes/slices are $1 each.

Students represented Leda Primary School in the KSSA Interschool Cross Country at Thomas Oval and performed extremely well. The students were very well-behaved and everyone finished the gruelling cross country track that included the very steep Chalk Hill! Many of our students finished in the top 10 and we had two medal winners: Brock Smith won gold in the Year 4 boy race – in a time that was faster than the Year 5 boy, and Breanna Millington won silver in the Year 6 girls race. Congratulations to all students

who participated! A big thank you to the Leda P & C and volunteers who ran the canteen for all KSSA schools. Mrs Williamson

Qkr! (Quicker) Online Payment System Leda PS has implemented a new new new new payment system for all contribution and charges and activities associated with the school. The new payment system is an easy-to-use application called Qkr! (pronounced ‘quicker’). Qkr! can be used on smartphones, iPads, tablets, laptops and desktop computers. Qkr! is a Mastercard product and comes with all of

their security. Qkr! will assist our school community by:

• saving time by allowing parents/guardians to pay for school activities at any time of day or night, every day of the

year;

• reducing the need for students to bring cash to school for excursion and other school payments;

• reducing paper consumption.

Getting started with Qkr! is easy. Please refer to the attached flyer and questions and answers document that will help

give you step by step instructions on how to download Qkr! and register your child/ren.
