Onduvilla corrugated tiles are small elements 106 x 40cm, designed to give roofs a pleasant look reminiscent of traditional clay tiles, while at the same time being extremely light. An exclusive 3 tone painting system ensures a natural texture on the tiles. These tiles are made of a single layer of organic fibres and bitumen combined with resin.

Start installation at eave, in the opposite direction of the prevailing wind.

Position the dark strip on top. Stagger the rows, by starting the second row with a half tile. Horizontal overlaps are one corrugation. Ensure proper waterproofing by aligning the overlapping guides.

Laying of purlins - Purlins have to be placed at 32cm distance, centre to centre. Since there is an overhang of 5cm at the eaves, the distance between the first and second purlin is 27cm, centre to centre.

ONDUVILLA® is to be fixed at each overlap and corrugation with ONDUVILLA® fasteners.

Fix the tiles following the order described above, between the 2 overlapping guides. Do not fix those corrugations that will be overlapped by the next tile or verge piece.

Installation principles

Fixing

At low pitches a ventilation gap of 1cm is necessary between the flat parts of ONDUVILLA® tiles. Fix the verge piece before the installation of the elements of the ridge.

Ensure that the maximum distance from the ridge point to the next purlin is 15 cm.

If necessary, add an extra purlin to maintain this distance.

At the verge, the apron piece has to be cut on site parallel to the last corrugation of the tile. Fix the overlaps with plastic clips that also secure the gap of ventilation between left and right apron pieces and ridge.

Ridges

The Slim cap can be used for pitches up to 300. Above that limit, the standard ridge piece should be used. Thanks to the higher pitch, the apron piece is not necessary and the ridge is watertight.

Like the tiles, apron pieces and slim caps are to be overlapped against prevailing wind.

Slim caps and closure cap have to be fixed on top of the corrugations. If necessary, for a better adaptation to the slope of the roof, part B of the closure cap has to be cut on site.

The corrugated ventilated filler can be fixed below the ridge piece, in order to prevent birds or other animals entering into the roof space. Overlap between ridges needs to be maintained at 15cm.

Prepare the support.

Fix the tile to the side wall with an aluminium Z-

profile. Secure the watertightness with a silicone mastic.

Aluminium Z profile is fixed to the wall, and a line of silicon mastic is necessary for the watertightness.

Fix the screws on top of corrugations,into the supporting batten.

Onduvilla tiles are supplied in shrink wrapped packing of 15 tiles. Each pallet of Onduvilla consists of 900

tiles. It is not recommended to stack pallets. Tiles must be stored flat and covered at all times to protect

against weather and dust. The tiles should always be lifted from the pallet and not dragged across. While

using Onduvilla tiles in conditions of high internal humidity, it is important to use a vapour barrier and

provide adequate ventilation on the roof.

Health & SafetyRoofing is a specialized job and needs skilled and trained personnel. While on the roof, workmen should

ensure that their legs are always placed on purlins to prevent damage to the tiles. During installation,

workmen should walk/sit on the wooden planks to distribute their load. Safety devices are compulsory

during any roofing work.

MaintenanceTo ensure long life of Onduvilla tiles, we recommend the following maintenance procedures

Do not allow leaf debris to build up on the surface of the corrugated roofing as leaf mould would

soften the material and reduce the effective life of the product.

Ensure that tree branches are not in direct contact with the roof as it can result in mechanical

damage to the sheet surface.

Clean all rainwater gutters regularly to ensure efficient water run-off from the roof.
