General Information This is a brochure for a trip offered by ROM Travel. ROM Travel is organized by the Royal Ontario Museum’s Department of Museum Volunteers to provide support for the museum. These trips are available exclusively to members of the Royal Ontario Museum. The trip described in this brochure is to the country of Argentina. This trip will take place from March 12 to 25, 2021. This trip is operated by Gateways International/The Joy of Travel Ltd. This travel agency operates on behalf of ROM Travel.

Join ROM palaeontologist Dr. David Evans to explore the world’s largest dinosaurs with behind the scenes access to a dinosaur dig site. Visit the incomparable UNESCO World Heritage Site of Iguazu Falls that was just voted one of the seven new Natural Wonders of the World. Some Highlights of Each Day On Day 1 arrive in the city of Buenos Aires Individual arrivals at Ezeiza Airport. Group transfer to the hotel. Welcome Dinner and stroll of the Puerto Madero area. On Day 2 in Buenos Aires Take a tour of northern Buenos Aires, including Recoleta Cemetery, Palais de Glace, Plaza San Martin, Plaza Francia, the Palermo Chico area, and the Museum of Latin American Art.

Dinner and tango show. On Day 3 in Buenos Aires Enjoy a tour of southern Buenos Aires, including Plaza de Mayo, the Obelisk monument, San Telmo, the colourful La Boca and Teatro Colon opera house. On Day 4 in the Buenos Aires area Head north of the city for a tour of the elegant Olivos and San Isidro neighbourhoods. Boat ride on the Parana River delta. Visit the Tigre Municipal Museum of Fine Art, originally part of a 1900s luxury hotel.

On Day 5 travel from Buenos Aires to the town of El Calafate Flight to El Calafate. Visit Perito Moreno Glacier, one of the few glaciers in the world that is still growing.

Enjoy Lake Argentino and Redonda Bay’s unique bird life. On Day 6 in El Calafate Boat tour of Lake Argentino to see Upsala and Spegazzini Glaciers. Visit the Glaciarium Interpretation Centre. Indulge in a beverage at its Ice Bar. On Day 7 travel from El Calafate to Bariloche Flight to San Carlos de Bariloche. Drive the Circuito Chico around Nahuel Huapi Lake. Ride the cable car to the top of Cerro Campanario for views of the lake district. End your day at the renowned Patagonia Brewery. On Day 8 in Bariloche Enjoy a morning at leisure.

Sail Nahuel Huapi Lake to Los Arrayanes National Park on the Quetrihue Peninsula. At Victoria Island visit a unique coniferous forest. Stimulate your palate with a wine experience. On Day 9 travel from Bariloche to San Martin Shopping and sightseeing with lunch at quaint Villa la Angostura. Drive to San Martin de los Andes via the Seven Lakes: Correntoso, Espejo, Escondido, Falkner, Villarino, Machonico, and Lacar. On Day 10 travel from San Martin to Neuquen Drive through the lower Andes Mountains. With David, discover Argentinosaurus at Plaza Huincul, and Giganotosaurus at Villa El Chocon.

On Day 11 in Neuquen Behind the scenes tour of The Dino Project with David. The ROM’s Futalognkosaurus dinosaur was found at this ongoing excavation. Tour the wineries and enjoy lunch at La Posada del Dinosaurio in Bodega Schroeder. On Day 12 travel from Neuquen to Iguazu Falls Flight to Iguazu Falls. Relax in the pools and jungle walks at the hotel. On Day 13 at Iguazu Falls on the Argentina Side Tour the Iguazu National Park lower and upper falls. Explore the 275 cascades and falls. Immerse yourself in the lush jungle with exotic birds, rainbows and butterflies.

Farewell Dinner at the Argentine Experience Restaurant. From the chefs, learn about typical Argentine dishes in a fun atmosphere. On Day 14 travel to Iguazu Falls on the Brazil Side and then to Sao Paulo Cross the border to see the Brazil side of the Falls. Flight to Sao Paulo for individual departures. He has led dinosaur digs around the world for the ROM. A ROM Travel Coordinator will Join this Trip Elida Huignard is a retired architect and project manager. She is an Argentinian and an avid traveller with an extensive knowledge of the regions and cultures visited in this trip.

Trip Cost Per Person All quoted costs are in $ CAD. Double Occupancy Accommodation is $10,835 per person. Single Supplement is $1,900. Be Aware That This trip begins at Ezeiza Airport in the city of Buenos Aires in Argentina. Its international airport code is E Z E. This trip ends at Guarulhos Airport in the city of Sao Paulo in Brazil. Its international airport code is G R U. International flight costs are not included.

Terms and Conditions All quoted costs are in $ CAD. Based on double occupancy in a hotel room, the total cost of this trip is $10,835 per person. A single supplement costs $1,900. The trip cost does NOT include international flight costs between your home and Argentina. Gateways International/The Joy of Travel Ltd. can assist with booking flights. The trip cost includes Group coach transfer from Ezeiza Airport to hotel on Day 1 for those arriving before or at the arrival time of the Travel Agency Escort. Porterage of one standard sized suitcase per person at the hotels.

Trip cancellation and out-of-province health insurance. With respect to the costs All costs quoted herein are based on rates, fees and taxes as of December 30, 2019. Costs are subject to change without notice.

Should trip costs increase, Gateways International/The Joy of Travel Ltd., as per TICO regulations, reserves the right to increase the cost accordingly up to a maximum of 7%. Gateways International/The Joy of Travel Ltd. reserves the right to substitute itineraries, hotels, airlines or vessels due to conditions beyond their control. Any change to itinerary will not result in eligibility for a refund. Deposits and a Final Payment are required An initial non-refundable deposit of $1,600 per person is required at the time of booking.

A second non-refundable deposit of $3,000 is due on October 15, 2020. A third non-refundable deposit of $4,000 is due on December 11, 2020. The balance of payment, $2,235, and single supplement of $1,900, if applicable, are due on January 8, 2021. Reservations are required As the number of participants is limited, reservations should be made as soon as possible. In the event of over-subscription, a waiting list will be maintained. If you have any physical limitations or disabilities Any physical limitation or disability requiring special attention or treatment must be reported when reservation is made or when it occurs, if later.

ROMTravel, Gateways International/The Joy of Travel Ltd. and/or its agents reserve the right to decline to accept or to retain anyone who may in their sole judgment require care and attention beyond that which can be provided. After making a reservation, if you must cancel All cancellations must be made in writing to Gateways International/The Joy of Travel Ltd. All payments are non-refundable. No refunds will be given for payments made or unused services. Documents are required A passport valid for six months after the return date is required. Entry to another country may be refused even if the required information and travel documents are complete. ROM Travel values your privacy Your contact information will be published in the trip handbook unless you advise not to do so. Travel insurance is important It is the responsibility of each participant to ensure that they have adequate out-of-province health and trip cancellation insurance to cover changes in health or other circumstances prior to, or during, the trip.

All losses suffered or additional costs incurred associated with failure to have insurance, or to have sufficient insurance, are the sole responsibility of the participant. Insurance purchased through Gateways International/The Joy of Travel Ltd. is underwritten by TIPS Travel Insurance. The insurance premium is non-refundable, and exclusive for residents of Ontario. Insurance may be purchased up to the time the initial deposit is processed, or at a later time but, if purchased later, would be subject to any changes to the premiums and/or to the participant's health or other circumstances at the time of purchase. A waiver will be required if the participant does not purchase insurance from Gateways International/The Joy of Travel Ltd. Ontario taxes are included in the quoted costs. The costs quoted are based on accommodation in a double occupancy room. Note that Deluxe coverage is all-inclusive health and cancellation insurance. The price of Deluxe coverage depends on your age. Up to the age of 59, Deluxe coverage price is $737.00. From age 60 to 64, Deluxe coverage price is $925.00. From age 65 to 69, Deluxe coverage price is $1,097.00. From age 70 to 74, Deluxe coverage price is $1,627.00. From age 75 to 79, Deluxe coverage price is $2,058.00. From age 80 to 84, Deluxe coverage price is $2,653.00.

The price of Cancellation Only coverage depends on your age. Up to the age of 59, Cancellation Only coverage price is $669.00. From age 60 to 64, Cancellation Only coverage price is $803.00. From age 65 to 69, Cancellation Only coverage price is $932.00. From age 70 to 74, Cancellation Only coverage price is $1,078.00. From age 75 to 79, Cancellation Only coverage price is $1,452.00. From age 80 to 84, Cancellation Only coverage price is $1,903.00.
