Rome was the heart of one of
the most important old
civilizations which influenced
society, culture, language,
literature, art, architecture,
philosophy, religion, law and
the dress of next centuries.
This is the capital of the
province of Rome in the Lazio
region and Italy. It is an Italian
city of 2,700,000 people.
Language Rome has a lot of languages, by this reason this is
considerate a multilingual society. These are some
languages that the people use at the present time:
Italian
Spanish
Catalan
French
English
Latin.
The city that is more visited by many people around de world is The
Vatican.
It s very important to the catholic society because there started the
beliefs.

The worship of a religion other than the Roman Empire
was prohibited and sentenced. For this reason, Christians
were persecuted and killed in various provinces of the
Roman Empire, is that Christians held their worship, in
caves or Roman catacombs.
Actual Rome
Roman art includes architecture, painting, sculpture and
mosaic work. Luxury objects in metal-work, gem engraving,
ivory carvings, and glass are sometimes considered in
modern terms to be minor forms of roman art.

Italy. The Coliseum is clearly
the image of the city of
Rome, Representing in
addition, the greatness of
the Roman empire and their
art.
Formal Latin literature began in 240 BC, when a Roman audience
saw a Latin version of a Greek play.
The first Latin poet to write on a Roman theme was Gnaeus
Naevius during the 200 BC. He composed an epic poem about the
first Punic War, in which he had fought.
Sculpture was perhaps considered as the highest form of art by
Romans, but figure painting was also very highly regarded. The two
forms have had very contrasting rates of survival, with a very large
body of sculpture surviving from about the 1st century BC.
From the time of Julius Caesar, 48BC, Rome and the Roman
Empire was ruled by an Emperor. The Emperor was wise if he
listened to the advice of the Senate but some chose to be dictators and do what they wanted rather than follow the Senate's advice.
At the present time Mr. Giorgio Napolitano is the
President of Italy and Mr. Mario Monti is the First
Minister of Rome.
Rome, also hosts major international and worldwide political and
cultural organizations. Rome grew momentously after the war, as
one of the driving forces behind the “Italian economic miracle" of
post-war reconstruction and modernization.
Although the economy of Rome is characterized by the absence of
heavy industry and it is largely dominated by services, high-
technology companies ( Aerospace, defense, telecommunications).
Roman coins were an important means of
propaganda, and have survived in enormous
numbers.
In Rome, December 31 is celebrated the new year, naturally with
lentils and sausage. Lentils are considered by Roman symbol of
money, wealth and prosperity for the new year. Therefore the more
you eat more money will win the following year. Another tradition
well known for us is eating grapes.
The major contributions made by Rome to culture have been law
and Latin, origin of many modern languages, and many words in
non-Romance languages. During the Republic, and after the
conquest of Greece, the Roman culture undergoes a profound
transformation, characterized by the introduction of the Hellenistic
civilization.
People were divided into different classes. There
were Patricians, Plebeians and Slaves.
Patricians: were wealthy citizens of Rome.
Plebeians: were not wealthy but they were citizens
of Rome.
Commoners: were the people who did not enjoy
all the rights and privileges.
Slaves: had no money, no rights, no freedom and
were not citizens of Rome.
