Vlad Tepes ( the Impaler ) was a Romanian ruler from 1456 to 1462, the period of the Ottoman
conquest of the Balkans. The practice of impaling his enemies is part of his
historical reputation. During his lifetime, his reputation for excessive cruelty spread abroad.
The name of the vampire Count Dracula in Bram Stoker's 1897 novel Dracula was inspired by Vlad's name and reputation.

Constantin Brâncuși was a Romanian sculptor, painter and photographer who made
his career in France. Considered a pioneer
of modernism, one of the most influential sculptors of the 20th-century, Brâncuși is
called the patriarch of modern sculpture.
Mircea Eliade was a Romanian historian of religion, fiction writer,
philosopher, and professor at the University of Chicago. He was a leading interpreter of religious experience, who
established paradigms in religious studies that persist to this day. One of his most influential contributions to
religious studies was his theory of Eternal Return.
Automobile Dacia is a Romanian car manufacturer that takes its name from the historic region that
constitutes much of present-day Romania. Now a subsidiary of the French car manufacturer Renault the company was initially founded in 1966. It is Romania's largest exporter, constituting 7.9% of Romania's total
exports in 2011. The Dacia manufacturing plant in Mioveni, Argeș County is currently Europe's fifth
biggest car manufacturing facility in terms of volume produced.

The Trovant Museum A trovant is an unusual sand rock and one can notice a variety of shapes. Born from a sandy
hill, the trovants fall into a valley in Costești, 40 km. Away from Râmnicu-Vâlcea.
Monasteries Cozia Monastery, erected close to Călimănești by Mircea cel Bătrân in 1388 and housing his tomb, is one of the most valuable monuments of national medieval art and architecture in
Romania.
The hurezi Monastery The Hurezi Monastery was founded in 1690 by Prince Constantin Brâncoveanu in the town of Horezu. It is considered to be a masterpiece of "Brâncovenesc style", known for its architectural purity and balance. It has been inscribed by UNESCO on its list of
World Heritage Sites.
Dintr-un lemn Monastery Located at about 25 km. South from Râmnicu-Vâlcea, the monastery is an historical
monument dating back from the xvi th century. Dintr-un lemn means one wood-one oak tree.
