When planning a romantic getaway you are excited and filled with anticipation of a holiday filled with romance, fun and maybe even a bit of adventure. Before the hugging, cuddling

and kissing can begin you need to properly prepare for your trip. Here are the five tips to get your vacation started on the right track.

Tip #1: Every country has a recommendation for immunization. Be sure to check with your state department when traveling abroad. A friend of mine just returned from India with a stomach virus. It was several doctor visits before she got a correct diagnosis of C. Difficile; and now she's having a hard time getting rid of it. And my co-worker got malaria on his visit to Africa. You don't want to catch a virus or disease while traveling abroad and bring it back to your home country. Needless to say medical costs can be expensive and there is the danger you could make others sick as well. So, be sure to get your immunization shots even if you hate needles. Bite the bullet and get it done. Staying healthy during and after your trip is the first step to a wonderful vacation.

Tip #2: Check the expiration date on your passport. While packing for my last trip to Mexico with a few friends, I pulled out my passport three days before the trip and was shocked to discover it had expired. Oh my God!

Let me tell you it is possible to get a passport in three days - but it ain't pretty.

I live in Chicago and the only place I could get a short-notice appointment in a passport office was in Houston. I had to change flights to go to Houston first (an extra $200 cost). I had to leave work two days early (unpaid days off). While waiting in the passport office the computers went down. I waited there all day and they did not come back online. I came back the next day. System was down all day but I waited praying it would come back online. It came back at 4:00pm and the office closed at 4:30pm. Only a fraction of the 100 people waiting for a passport received them that day ($150 cost). My name was the next to last name called.

Despite my deep breathing exercises, my stress level was off the chart. That expired passport was both a time-consuming and expensive delay and it almost didn't happen. Learn from my mistake. Make sure you check your passport and any necessary visas required for your trip weeks ahead of time.

Tip #3: When traveling abroad purchase medical travel insurance to cover you and your family members. If you're pregnant make sure you check the policy carefully. There are some travel insurance companies whose policies do not cover pregnant travelers.

Tip #4: Be sure to check the expected weather for your travel destination. While traveling around all summer to hot locals, I forgot to check the weather in Peru, my final destination. It was winter in Peru and the temperature was in the 50's. A little cool for my shorts and flip-flops. I had to buy sweaters and a jacket. Do not assume the weather will be similar to where you live. This is rarely the case.

Tip #5: Buy trip cancellation insurance. If you have to cancel or delay your trip at the last-minute it can be costly, so you want to be covered.

These tips can help you have a smooth and worry-free vacation. Hopefully, a romantic getaway filled with hugging, cuddling and kissing.

In this issue you’ll find many reasons to dust off your passport or take a getaway closer to home. There are many wonderful travel ideas like a jungle hideaway in Guatemala, skiing in Canada or discovering a mountain getaway in the USA. However, you choose to travel, all of us Romance Travel Magazine wish you a happy holiday season.

Mont Tremblant Ski Resorthttp://www.fairmont.com/tremblant/

This resort, located in Quebec, always earns a top spot on skiing websites and magazines. Mont Tremblant combines traditional French charm with first-class skiing and is located in a picturesque town that's designed for winter fun. After spending a day at the slopes, venture into the downtown area where you'll find boutiques, cozy cafes, and other places worth browsing. After having dinner at one of the famed restaurants, enjoy a romantic evening in one of several lively bars that feature music and dancing. You can also spend a day at the unique Aquaclub La Source, which has heated indoor pools, eucalyptus steam baths, and a waterfall that you can soak under.

Four Seasons Resort Whistlerhttp://www.fourseasons.com/whistler/landing_pages/ppc.html?src=ppc_google_brand_packagesad_lp

Whistler is Canada's biggest ski resort and has more than 33.5 feet of annual snowfall. Located in British Columbia, this was an ideal place to be the host resort for the 2010 Olympic games. With more than 200 ski trails, it’s a perfect getaway for avid skiing couples as well. However, if you want to take a day away from the slopes, you'll find plenty of other couples-friendly activities located in Whistler, both at the resort and in town. Enjoy backcountry tours, dog-sledding, ice skating, snowcat tours, and

lots more. You can even take a romantic sleigh ride with a stopover for a cozy bonfire. This romantic resort features a spa, fine dining, and a pool to ensure you have a great time.

What makes this resort especially great for romantic getaways is that the concierge transports your gear to the mountain and you enjoy early lift access. The knowledgeable staff can arrange for activities and priority reservations at local restaurants.

Island Lake Lodgehttp://www.islandlakeresorts.com/

Also located in British Columbia, enjoy deep powder, deep duvets, and deep massages at this backcountry resort. You'll enjoy a secluded holiday at this mountain lodge with its wide range of amenities. This spot is perfect for couples who enjoy cozy settings and gourmet cuisine. It's truly the ultimate romantic getaway. Keep in mind that this location is only accessible by snowmobile and snowcat, so paying a visit takes a little planning. You and your sweetie will agree it’s well worth the trip with the attentive staff, luxe spa treatments, and 3,000-bottle collection of wine.

Fairmont Jasper Park Lodgehttp://www.fairmont.com/jasper/

Located in Jasper, Marilyn Monroe stayed at this lodge back in 1954 while filming a movie. Shockingly, she was turned away from the dining room for wearing pants. The lodge's high standards didn't keep

stars away, though, and it has become a hot spot for Hollywood royalty like the Kennedys, Bing Crosby, and Rita Hayworth. Even Queen Elizabeth II stayed here with Prince Phillip during their centennial tour of Alberta. You can arrive at this glamorous resort by train and ask for the "romance by rail" package to get the true romance experience. The prices here can be high, but you'll enjoy beautiful views, secluded spots, and a truly memorable experience. It is idealif you’re looking for pampering, and the attentive staff ensures that the rooms and service are of the highest quality. It's well worth the splurge, so take this romantic spot into consideration when planning your getaway.

Surrounded by dramatic viewsand beautiful scenery in every direction, the mountains make the perfect place for a romantic getaway. Treat yourself and your partner to one of these top spots for your next vacation or trip. After a day on the slopes, enjoy a romantic dinner or spend an evening at the spa. With so many skiing and non-skiing activities offered at these resorts, the mountains make a stunning location to base a romantic holiday. Keep in mind that rooms at these resorts fill up quickly, so be sure to plan ahead to get the best accommodations and experience possible.

Adventure in a Guatemalan

Jungle HideawayBy Nathalie Aucutt

A year later and we were setting off on our Latin American adventure, excited at the thought of exploring some of

the best beaches, mountains, and jungles the world has to offer.

One of the first places we visited was beautiful San AgustínLanquín in Guatemala. Lanquín is a quiet little town with the Cahabón Riverrunning through it, but it’s also home to an incredible natural wonder, Semuc Champey–the real reason we had journeyed all day to the country’s central highlands. Tucked away in lush jungle, around 7 kilometers outside of Lanquín, the Cahabón River partially flows over a 300-meter long limestone bridge and in doing so creates the most stunning series of turquoise pools, linked by small waterfalls. The

result is one of the most spectacular natural sights in the world, and we couldn’t wait to experience it.

After a long, hot, and bumpy day spent on multiple buses, we were relieved to arrive at the tranquil El Retiro Lodge, just a few minutes’ walk from the center of town.As soon as we walked through the gates of the lodge, we were blown away. Thatched jungle huts with verandas were scattered around the sloping lawns, interspersed with lush plants, scented flowers, and little paths leading down to the river and a large communal dining area. The afternoon sun invited us to spend the rest of the day sunning on the deck and splashing around like big kids in the river. We laughed for hours trying to stand up in the flow!

That evening we enjoyed a delicious barbecue with tasty meats and a huge variety of salads typical of the region. As all the guests ate together there was a friendly atmosphere, and we enjoyed chatting with other travelers around the table. The night was warm and clear. We wandered over to the hammocks where we laid back to watch the stars and listen to the river and the chirping crickets. It was perfect. When we had finished our beers, we wandered to our cabana, our torches guiding the way, and climbed the wooden ladder to the loft, where we drifted off to sleep, listening to the sound of the jungle.

The next morning we were up early and enjoyed a light breakfast. We decided to skip the group tour and instead made our way to the area’s biggest draw, the

Page 7: Romance Travel Magazine, your romantic getaway guide

Romance Travel Magazine 7

remote and virtually untouchedSemuc Champey. We took a local bus over the unpaved road to the national park, which was a lot of fun. We started the adventure with a steep climb up to the lookout point where we were treated to an incredible view of all of the pools cascading down through a clearing in the trees. It was a great start to the day and made us even more eager to get down to the water!

Semuc Champey is not just a natural monument to look at; you can actually go in and enjoy the water. When we got to the first pool, we packed our things in our wet bags and plunged in. The water was crystal clear and the jungle backdrop made for a very special setting. We relaxed a while to enjoy the moment, sipping juices as we sat in the stone pool and watched the wildlife. I didn’t think

the place could get any better, but at the edge of each pool, we noticed that the rock sloped down, creating waterfalls and slides into the next pool–it was like a natural water park! We made the most of the slides, daring each other to go first. We got some brilliant photographs!

Each pool was slightly different and had its own personality; some were wide and shallow for lounging, others were deeper and perfect for swimming. We spent a few hours there, enjoying each one and walking up the path at the side so that we could go in again (and so that I could avoid having to use some of the faster slides!). We ate our lunch at the side of our favorite pool, marveling at how amazing the place was.

As we weren’t on an organized tourwe had the flexibility to choose our

own itinerary and so decided to skip the optional caving and 10-meter bridge jump into the river and simply enjoyed the pools and the sunshine instead. However, being without a guide also comes with its challenges, transport being one of them.Late in the afternoon, in true traveller style, we hitched a ride back to Lanquín. Although I was relieved we didn’t have to walk back to the town, I was slightly nervous about getting in the back of the pick-up truck! Reassured by the presence of other travelers, the two of us jumped in. As soon as the truck sped off, my concern lifted and the adrenaline took over. The pair of us grinned the whole way back with the wind in our hair and the sun on our backs. It was an amazing end to our day in Semuc Champey–an ideal place for those who are up for a little adventure with their romantic getaway.

My boyfriend and I love to travel. In fact, it’s how he wooed me.

“Let’s run away together,” he said. Well, what was a girl to do?

Romantic Mountain Getaways in the USA

You and your honey can be the first to greet the day when

you watch the sun come up over Cadillac Mountain in Acadia National Park; this is where the sun first touches the United States. A visit in this part of the country lets you enjoy the ocean as well as the mountains.

The main base for tourists is Bar Harbor. You can find quiet bed and breakfasts in neighboring villages; if you want to stay in Bar Harbor, look for a hotel slightly removed from the busy town.At the end of a winding driveway but within walking distance of town, the Bayview is a haven where all rooms come with ocean view.

When you stroll into town, you’ll find shops featuring local crafts. At the harbor you can take a boat tour or hire your own boat to explore coastline views and search for marine birds and mammals.

You can’t visit without eating lobster—it’s on almost every menu in town. Choose your own from a tank to have freshly prepared whole lobster, or have a quick and casual lobster roll. You can burn off your calories by hiking in the park; choices range from strolls on carriage roads to the challenging Precipice Trail with rungs and ladders.

The largest home in the United

States is the Biltmore Estate in Asheville.Built in the late 1800s and architecturally inspired by French chateaux, the mansion is set within acres of gardens amid vistas of the Blue Ridge Mountains.

The manor house itself is open for tours, and you can stay on the grounds at the Biltmore Inn. Food at the inn’s restaurant (called The Dining Room) is as local as it gets, serving lamb and beef from animals

raised on the estate and vegetables picked from the kitchen garden.

Besides touring the home, explore the grounds. Wander the extensive gardens. Hike, bike, or horseback ride trails through the woods or around the property. You can also enjoy carriage rides or float down the river that runs through the property. For a more leisurely afternoon, take a winery tour and taste the Biltmore’s own wine.

Head to the Ozark Mountains for a romantic

escape in Arkansas. The mountains are colorful in every season. Dogwood trees provide fragrance as well as color in the spring, while red leaves crunch underfoot in autumn. Hiking, biking, and rock climbing all take advantage of the mountains.

Lakes and rivers throughout the mountain area offer tons of options for watersports, including boating, kayaking, water skiing, and more. You can even go scuba diving at a top-ranked site, Norfork Lake, where water can have 60-foot visibility.

The small towns in the Ozarksoffer historic shopping districts, museums, and, at Fort Smith, a historical site where the visitor’s center is in a former bordello. You’ll find cabins tucked in the forest throughout the region as well as bed and breakfasts like Cliff Cottage Inn in Eureka Springs.

“Grand Tetons” means “big breasts” in French,

so you know romance, or at least sex, was on the minds of the French explorers who wandered through the region in the 1800s. Who know what’ll be on your mind when you vacation here?

Wherever you are in the United States, you

aren't too far from a mountain where you

can hike, stargaze, and cuddle in front of

a fireplace with your loved one.

You’ll find plenty of accommodation choices in Jackson, but a stay at Jenny Lake Lodge in the national park placesthe lake and mountains right outside your door. The lodge makes a rustic atmosphere elegant with handmade quilts and western style. There’s nothing rustic about the 5-course dinner in the lodge’s restaurant, despite offering meats you don’t commonly find (buffalo and elk, for instance).

Outside the lodge, the mountains call with miles of hiking trails, while lakes and rivers offer rafting, boat cruises, and canoeing or kayaking. Pack lunch and find a secluded spot among the pines to have an intimate meal in one of the grandest locales anywhere.

It shouldn’t be easy to hide a 20,000-foot tall mountain,

but weather often keeps visitors to Denali National Park from spotting the mountain—the peak is visible only 20% of the time. That doesn’t mean you can’t have a romantic getaway here 100% of the time, though.

Because Denali is so remote, staying in the park is the best way to access it; there’s only one road and only a few miles are open to private vehicles. There are only a few trails for day hiking; for a truly Alaskan experience, plan an overnight backpacking trip. This is wilderness, without maintained campsites and with

the chance of encounters with bears. Alone together in a tent with no one else around; who knows how you’ll spend the night.

For a less rugged evening, stay in one of the park’s lodges (technically, they’re on private land within the park’s boundaries).North Face Lodge is small, with only 15 rooms—be sure to ask for one with a queen bed. It’s a long but scenic ride on the bus down the park’s 95 mile road to reach the inn, and there are great chances for seeing wildlife like moose and grizzly bears along the way. Meals are family style in the dining room, with self-packed lunches to eat on guided walks. Depending on the season you travel, the northern lights might be the evening’s entertainment.

There’s no more romantic American destination than

Hawaii. You probably think of Hawaii for a beach vacation, not a mountain getaway, but you can combine beach and mountain outings in this tropical paradise. Your choices include hiking up Diamond Head on Oahu, Sleeping Giant on Kauai, or the West Maui Mountains on Maui.

Locals tend to tackle trails in flip-flops, but you should still lace on hiking shoes. Whichever mountain you climb, you’ll have views to the ocean from the top.Stay in a cottage hotel nestled in tropical gardens or maybe the Ritz Carlton for luxury on the beach. When you’re done hiking, rinse off the sweat by snorkeling. One of your meals has to be a luau. The drums and fire dances will get your hearts racing. Keeping them racing once you’re back in your room is up to you.

6 Holiday Getaways for Two in the U.S.

By Dusty Fox

With the cold temperatures outside, you may be tempted to bundle up and ride out

the season at home. Fight the urge to hibernate and you’ll quickly find that opportunities for romantic

getaways abound this time of year. Whether you and your sweetheart embrace the cold weather and all the seasonal outdoor

activities that come with it, or would rather escape the cold and soak up some sun instead, it’s easy to plan a romantic holiday getaway you’ll

both love. Get inspired by checking out these 6 close-to-home destinations:

There’s no place like New York City for an idyllic winter getaway. Go shopping on 5th Avenue, stroll through Central Park, and catch a performance by The Rockettes at Radio City

Music Hall. No holiday getaway to New York is complete without paying a visit to Rockefeller Center,

where you can go ice skating and stand in awe of the 80-foot-tall Christmas tree, decorated by some 45,000 LED lights.

The most dedicated ski enthusiasts simply must make the trek to Jackson Hole, which was recently named by Forbes as the top ski resort in the country. Even if your skiing

skills are limited, you and your partner can take advantage of the many beginner- to intermediate-

level courses. There’s something particularly romantic about spending the evening together in an outdoor hot tub, sipping champagne and watching the snow fall around you.

If you and your sweetheart agree that no winter weekend is complete without a stack of pancakes covered in maple syrup, head to Vermont for the freshest syrup around. Tour a

working farm, sampling cheeses, maple syrup, and other homemade goods along the way. You’ll

both feel the stress of daily life melt away as you drive through the area’s famous covered bridges, go snowshoeing, and explore the quaint downtown shops.

Treat yourselves to a healthy dose of pampering at one of Sedona’s famed spa and wellness retreats. If you like to stay active while vacationing, strap on your hiking shoes

and head out to explore the Red Rocks region, while those who prefer to focus on their R&R can

enjoy equally stunning views while lying poolside.

Leave the cold behind and head to Key West, where temperatures average in the mid-70s throughout the month of December. Visit the

islands of the stunning Dry Tortugas National Park for a day visit, or if you enjoy camping, you

can even opt to camp out under the stars. Back on the mainland, you can stroll the streets and visit dozens of local artist galleries without a single snowflake in sight.

Party until the wee hours of the morning in New Orleans, where incredible music and fantastic food are enhanced by the Southern Charm that oozes from the famous French

Quarter’s countless clubs. For a more refined jazz and blues atmosphere, visit the nearby

Frenchmen Street, where vermouth- and absinthe-infused cocktails are sure to elevate the elegance of your evening out on the town.

Woodstock, Vermont

Sedona, Arizona

Whether you simply want a change in scenery or are more interested in a dramatic shift in temperature, there are plenty of destinations throughout the country that make for an excellent holiday getaway. Technology and Relationships:

By Susan Derry

Technology is neither helpful nor hurtful for relationships; it is how we choose to use technology that determines whether we harm or help our relationships. We

need to examine whether we are controlling our use of technology or we are allowing technology to control us. If we allow technology to monopolize our time and attention, our relationships will suffer from disconnection. Technology can be a tool that challenges relationship in the following ways:Miscommunications happen all the time in relationships, but miscommunication is exponentially increased via text message. It is too easy to misinterpret or assume the tone of the message. It is far easier to be cruel to a loved one via text or email. Angry, hurtful words can be sent off in seconds, without the opportunity to see the effect those words have on others. Not being present when we are with our loved ones is a dangerous use of technology. When we give more of our attention to our computer, phone, television or electronic games than we give to the people around us, we are seriously eroding our relationships. If we choose to control our use of technology it can help us connect with our loved ones. Technology can be an aid to strengthening relationships in the following ways:Facetime, Skype, ooVoo and others can help us feel close, even when we may be half a world away. Electronic calendars and reminders on phones can help us remember important events, dates and times. We can help ensure that our loved ones feel remembered and cared about, by setting reminders ahead of time to send cards or purchase gifts. Receiving and sending a kind, thoughtful, funny or loving text, email or phone call

throughout the day can help us feel connected when we are busy and apart.Technology makes it easy to display photos of loved one; photos of fun and treasured moments, as screen saver or phone background, can bring a smile to our face and help us feel close. As wonderful as technology is for helping us connect; virtual intimacy can never replace actual intimacy. We need the eye contact, the touches, hugs, smiles and time together. Take a few moments to evaluate whether your choices around the use of technology are helping or harming your relationship. Choosing to use technology wisely can help build and strengthen our relationships. Allowing technology to consume and distract us from our time together has the opposite effect.

0 Romantic Things to Do inChicago

Known for its architecture, pizza, tourist attractions, harsh winters, and gangsters, many people may forget about Chicago as a romantic getaway destination. But the Windy City has a spectacular array of options for couples looking to experience romance in a new city. From amazing food, to live shows, to outdoor activities, Chicago is the romantic destination you never knew could bring you and your beloved so close.

Dana Hotel and SpaThis luxury hotel in the heart of Chicago should be part of every couple’s romantic getaway. With modern decor, a private wine reserve, and custom spa experiences, the Dana Hotel and Spa will put any couple in the mood for love. With Freestyle restaurant and Vertigo Sky Lounge in the hotel, you don’t even need to leave the building (but we know you’ll want to).

Carriage Rides and Skating at Millennium Park in WinterMost people shudder at the thought of being in Chicago during the winter, but that’s the best time for you two to get close. Take a horse drawn carriage ride through downtown. Sip some hot chocolate under a blanket and take in the city lights. If you are lucky, a bit of snow might add the perfect amount of ambiance. Finish up your romantic winter date at Millennium Park for some ice skating and hand holding.

Ballet and DinnerNo matter where you are, a classic date night of dinner and a show never fails. In Chicago there is a plethora of entertainment options, no matter what you and your partner enjoy. For a visually stimulating experience, see a JofferyBallet performance at Auditorium Theater, then head to Everest Restaurant nearby for a cozy French dinner for two. On the 40th floor of the Chicago Stock Exchange you’ll enjoy your champagne and escargot in style with spectacular city views.

Geja CafeThis is, without a doubt, one of Chicago’s hidden romance gems. From the outside, this basement restaurant is nothing to stop for. But inside, it’s a perfectlydecorated fondue restaurant. A simple, yet spectacular menu served in candlelight, with red hues from the walls subtly casting a shadow on your partner. The word“cozy” doesn’t even begin to describe it. A live musician frequently plays, putting the icing on top of a magical dining experience.

Stroll by the Lake at NightLots of newcomers in Chicago flock to Navy Pier and other hot spots by the lake to see the fireworks every Wednesday and Saturday. But, if you and your significant other are looking for a quiet romantic spot to watch the show, head north along the lake. You will still be able to see the display, while being able to spend some alone time together. Try a spot near Belmont Harbor. Lots of grass and fewer people makes for a great ending, or beginning, to a romantic date night.

Second City ComedyFor some of us, laughter is the ultimate aphrodisiac. Catch a show at Second City, snuggle up with your love in the back, and get ready to laugh your heads off. It’s like watching a romantic comedy featuring Tina Fey (she got her start at Second City!), only ten times better. Then head to one of the Old Town bars for a drink in a secluded corner of a former speakeasy. Margie Still and Twin Anchors, both favorites during prohibition, are in the Old Town neighborhood near the Second City stage.

Chocolate ToursTake a walking tour of the best chocolate shops the city has to offer. Try the Chicago Chocolate Tours; they have tours every week of the year. This means whether you are looking for a refreshing summer treat or hot chocolate to keep you warm, these tours will take you and your significant other on a trip even Willy Wonka would envy. Buy your favorite candies to share with each other later.

Peggy Nortebaert Nature Museum in Lincoln ParkLonging for some simple nature? It’s surprising to be in the center of a major metropolitan city and yet be surrounded by peaceful nature. Take a picnic to the nature museum at Lincoln Park when you and your significant other can feel like you are in the middle of secluded woods. Think Jane Austen-type romance. Steal a kiss without everyone on Michigan Avenue staring.

Green Mill Cocktail Lounge and JazzChicago is famous for its jazz music, so while you are in the city, check out the Green Mill. Its dark atmosphere, smooth live jazz performances, and expertlymade cocktails will have you and your lover swaying in harmony.

Hancock Tower Signature Lounge on the 96th FloorWhat could be more romantic than a perfect nighttime view of the city and lake from 96 floors up? High above the city, you and your love can feel free to disconnect from the city below. At the Signature Lounge at the Hancock Tower, sip on perfectly made cocktails, cuddle up to your beloved, and let the lights of the city set the mood. An extra tip for the ladies: some of the most beautiful views of Chicago can be seen from the women’s room. Snap some pics for your guy because hewon’t get quite the view from the men’s facilities.

Recently, a friend approached me and asked where he could take his newly wedded wife for their one-year anniversary. I

quickly suggested that they should take a romantic getaway in New Zealand because I know how incredible the experience is. Situated in the southwestern coast of the Pacific ocean lies New Zealand. A place with natural coastlines, warm and clean beaches, and a favorable climate, making it one of the top rated romantic getaway destinations for couples.

One of the most famous romantic getaway destinations in New Zealand is the 970 Lonely Bay Lodge situated in the Coromandel Peninsula. The first thing you’ll experience when you walk into the 970 Bay is the fusion of relaxation and beauty. It’s like therapy of the mind. The scenery is ideal for a romantic walk along the beach all the way to the historic Cathedral Cove. The white, clean, and warm sandy beaches are lined with Pohutukawa trees that provide inviting shade spots where couples can sit back, relax, and bond in the warmth of their very own spa pool. The light-filled suites are spacious, well furnished and open to a private deck. An ideal romantic getaway

in New Zealand cannot be complete without the food. At 970 Bay a wide range of world class cuisines are served. Couples can choose from in-house dining, picnic hampers, vintage afternoon lunches, and traditional dinners. The serene environment is absolutely ideal for a romantic getaway in New Zealand.

Another great destination ideal for a romantic getaway

destination in New Zealand is the Wai Ora Lakeside Spa Resort. This place encapsulates the spa experience like no other. It features erupting waters, steaming fumaroles, a mud volcano, and an impressively large hot waterfall. Everything in Wai Ora is world class, ranging from customer service, to over-the-top suites, to the food. This place is recommended for couples who love a one-on-one experience with nature. breathtaking The Lakeside Spa offers a wide range of therapies accompanied with a healthy gourmet spa cuisine and refreshing drinks. Here couples can engage in activities at the Hell’s Gate as they bond with nature and experience a real romantic getaway in New Zealand.

We cannot forget The Boatshed as one of the top destinations for a romantic getaway in New Zealand. When thinking of that ultimate once-in-a-lifetime vacation adventure, many couples agree that Africa tops the list as the most desirable and dream-worthy destination. From wildlife spotting while out on safari to “glamping” in luxurious 5-star accommodations in the desert, a trip to South Africa is guaranteed to evoke a non-stop sense of adventure and excitement.

South Africa enjoys a reputation for excellence in every aspect of the traveler’s experience. It is home to some of the world’s most indulgent lodges and most talented chefs. The landscape is dramatic no matter which way you look–from the impressive Table Mountain

overlooking Cape Town to the steep cliffs of Cape Point, along with dozens of other equally dramatic natural attractions.

If you and your partner are thinking of planning a vacation to South Africa, one of the first things you’ll want to do is research tour companies. There are many with excellent reputations, though the excursions they offer and pricing can vary dramatically. The following all enjoy a faithful following and history of success with travelers from all over the world:

African Travel Inc.This company’s “Romantic Africa” travel package invites guests to enjoy the highlights of both South Africa and Mozambique. While in Cape Town, you’re able to visit local art galleries and museums, stroll through the city, and take a sunset cruise in Table Bay before retreating to your five-star hotel. A scenic drive along the coast affords you the opportunity to view not only the stunning cliffs and beaches, but you’ll also get to visit and observe the very

sociable–and entertaining–group of African penguins at Boulders Beach.

Next up on the itinerary: a generous amount of wining and dining at the heart of South Africa’s growing wine scene in a region aptly named “Winelands.” Quaint cafes and shops create a charming small-town feel in Franschhoek, where you’ll be free to walk around at a leisurely pace or take a Wine Tram tour to visit some of the region’s finest wineries. Naturally, the day comes to a close with a world-class meal that promises to be nothing short of extraordinary.

The adventure factor kicks up a notch during the next leg of the trip when guests visit the KwaZulu-Natal Private Reserve where you’ll be on the lookout for Africa’s famous Big Five–the African lion, Cape buffalo, African leopard, rhinoceros, and the African elephant. During your stay you’ll get to experience VulaZula, a lively performance of drumming, dancing, and story telling that sheds light on the rich history of the area. From riding around in an open top safari vehicle to enjoying a massage in your private villa to swimming in the property’s infinity pool, there’s no shortage of ways to de-stress and make the most of this breathtakingly beautiful destination.

Romance is clearly the theme as you move on to Mozambique, where you and your sweetheart will enjoy couples massages, a personal plunge pool, and a candlelit dinner for two on your own private beach. Snorkeling, horseback riding, and simply wandering along the coral reef-lined beach all make for excellent daytime activities, though you may be tempted to just stay shacked up in your luxury villa.

G Adventures With the tagline “The Great Adventure People,” it’s clear that G Adventures put an emphasis on active exploration. Even better, they remain committed to sustainable travel and constantly improve their tours to include an increasing number of environmentally and socially responsible activities. If you

and your partner work hard to respect and protect the environment, or at least want to support businesses that do so, you’ll definitely want to check out this agency.

G Adventures offers a number of tours throughout the African continent, ranging in length from 8 to 54 days. They have something for everyone–whether you’re most excited about seeing wildlife or are more interested in photographing the region’s famous coastline, you’ll find a perfect package seemingly designed just for you and your partner. Furthermore, they categorize their tours into the Classic, YOLO, Comfort, Marine, Family, and Active trip styles, so you’ll be able to choose an option that will meet your desires.

The Kruger & Falls package is great for the on-the-go couple looking to learn about local culture while visiting Africa. The tour includes Big Five viewing from an open top safari vehicle, a visit to a local school, dinner with a local family, and a visit to the largest waterfall in the world, Victoria Falls.

Big Five Tours & ExpeditionsIf you’re looking for pure luxury, Big Five promises to deliver in every possible way. They offer 24-hour white glove service and work with guests individually to customize activities based on their personal interests. Highlights from their 11-day South Africa package

include a private tour of a wine estate, land-based whale watching, a safari at the Phinda Game Reserve, viewing of the region’s ancient rock art and cave paintings, and a stay at a luxury beach lodge in Maputaland. Big Five has been recognized internationally for its dedication to conservation and sustainable tourism.

SITA World ToursAt the other end of the spending spectrum, if you’re in love with the idea of visiting South Africa with your sweetheart but have a tight budget to stick to, SITA World Tours is a great option. They offer very affordable 7-day tour as well as a more robust tour that lasts 14 days. SITA includes all the must-do itinerary items into their tours–a cable car ride to the top of Table Mountain in Cape Town, an open top safari in Greater Kruger Park, bush walking, and a trip to Milnerton Lighthouse are all on the agenda.

If you’re ready for an unforgettable getaway with your partner, you simply cannot go wrong with a trip to South Africa. As you explore and discover a new culture and an exhilarating corner of the world, you’ll quickly realize this is the type of experience that will stay with you for a lifetime.

Debrena Jackson Gandy - The Love Lies Interview Debrena Jackson Gandy, bestselling author, nationally-recognized speaker is inspiring a “relationships revolution,” In her eye-opening new book, THE LOVE LIES: 10 Revelations About Love that will Transform Your Relationships and Enrich Your Love Life.

THE LOVES LIES introduces a radically different approach to relationships. It exposes the Love Lies, replaces them with the Love Truths, and offers a healing process that enables women to finally experience deep satisfaction in their relationships.

RTM: What motivated you to write this Book?Debrena: The idea for the book came out of my own marriage journey. I’ve been married 21 years, but at year ten we started to do a nosedive. It looked like we were headed toward the coming divorce statistic. I was divinely inspired to create a process that ended up transforming my marriage and that was the inspiration for the book. RTM: A lot of people know you from your other inspiring book, “All The Joy You Can Stand.” Debrena: Yes! I’m attracting a whole group of people that are not familiar with my previous work. My first book was “Sacred Pampering Principle”. RTM: In this book, you talk about the epidemics of more relationships experiencing failures than successes. What do you think is the root cause of it?Debrena: Well it is certainly not a lack of information, because there are 30 thousand plus book titles on the market that deal with relationships, so information has not equalled transformation in love relationships in this country. What I discovered in my own journey, and as I’ve now tested it out with over a thousand people at my Love Academy teaching is that there are some core underlying beliefs that are faulty and flawed. These beliefs that I call the “love lies” are the basis for how we think, interact, communicate and even react in our love relationship. These are not working for men or women and are resulting in more hardship and break down than deep satisfaction and fulfilment. RTM: All right, well let’s get to the heart of the matter. What are some of the possible “love lies”, you discovered while writing the book? Debrena: Out of the 25 “love lies that came to me this book deals with 10 of them. RTM: The first one is, “The Granddaddy Love-Lie.” This one is like the Mothership, so to speak, or like the trunk of the tree and the other love-lies are the branches. Love

lie number one says, “love is found.” That’s the lie that we buy, that “love is found” and in parentheses, I would probably say, as a footnote, outside of ourselves. So the notion of Mr. or Mrs. Right or “the one” is based in the, love is found lie, and hence the reason, we even speak of seeking, looking for or trying to find the one who has the love we’re looking for. So that is a futile search to look outside yourself. RTM: One of the things I loved about your book, is that you also delve into some love truths.Debrena: Yes, for each love-lie there is a complementary love truth. So for example, the first love-lie is that love is found, outside of ourselves. The companion love truth is that oh contraire love is not found outside yourself. Love is an experience within, first and then shared. RTM: Give us another example.Debrena: Another one of the love-lies is the SOLE, soul-mate love-lie. It tells us in the vast world of 7 billion humans that there is only one single solitary man or woman whom we can have a deep level connection. That’s crazy, insane. The love-truth is that there are many possibilities of potential soul mates. Love-lie number 3 talks about a, “man completes me”. Many women are waiting for the “soul mate” to show up. The love-truth is that women are the completion of creation and a living gift. Needing someone to complete us is bogus and untrue.RTM: Those are some powerful insights.Debrena: I want this book to shake folks up. This book is not 10 steps or seven strategies pr 32 tips. We have 30,000 of those books. This book is to upset the apple cart and to say it is time to introduce a new paradigm; because the one we’re operating from is failing miserably.RTM: How do you feel a romantic getaway can enhance a relationship?Debrena: During Love Academy I ask women, “how many of you go on dates with

your husband outside the house.” It is scary how few hands are raised. It can be easy to fall into a complacent routine and take each other for granted. A getaway transports you out of your usual environment. It gives you permission in many cases, to behave with more freedom and responsible abandon. It gives you a chance to dress differently. You can change your whole mood and attitude by changing your attire. A getaway also give you that precious quality time to enjoy each other’s energy presence and rediscover each other. When we get complacent and think we know the other person, they are no longer a curiosity to us, no longer a fascination. These things can be rekindled and reignited with a romantic getaway. It can refresh a relationship thay may be dying.RTM: At Romance Travel Magazine we are always encouraging couples to take time just for the two of them. Debrena: Exactly. You can take a downstate bike ride or adventure travel. Do something to get yourself out of complacency and spark some energy into your relationship.RTM: How can we find out more information about your books and Love Academy courses?Debrena: I have a new Love Academy coming in January, 2015. You can get more information and signup on my website at: www..milliondollarmentor.net. THE LOVE LIES: 10 Revelations About Love that will Transform Your R e l a t i o n s h i p s and Enrich Your Love Life book is available at b o o k s t o r e s nationwide and on Amazon.com
