    to one story, a youth named Curtius saved Rome here by riding a horse into a chasm, thereby closing it.

    5. Return to the top of the page (Map of the Roman Forum). On the side menu, click on the Curia. Julius Caesar built this building where the surrounding structures met.

    6. Now, go to the Rostra. What was the purpose of this structure? To be a speakers platform.

    7. Go to the Templum Castoris. Three massive columns are all that are left of this temple.

    8. Click on the Templum Juli. This temple was built on the site of the funeral pyre of Julius Caesar.

    9. Go to the Templum Vestae. What articles were housed in this temple? Public Treaties, imperial wills, and other state documents.

  • 10. Go to the Tabularium. This building was used to store the state archives, such as deeds, laws, treaties, and decrees of the senate.

    11. Go to the Milliarium Aureum. What was inscribed on this column? The names of the major cities of the Roman Empire, and their distances from Rome.

    12. Find the Basilica Aemelia, Basilica Julia, and the Basilica Constantini. In ancient Rome, basilicas were used as law courts, later a basilica design was used for Christian architecture.

    13. Now, go to The Roman Colosseum. The original name for the Colosseum was Amphitheatrum Flavium.

    14. Go to the Templum Saturni. What did the god Saturn guard in this building? Treasure.

    15. What was the name of the road (via) that ran through the Forum? Via Sacra
