to them by my heavenly Father.” — Matthew 18:19 DAUGHTER’S OF MARY (Hijas de Maria) You are invited to join the Hijas de Maria (Daughters of Mary) at Mass this Saturday at 4pm on 9/9/17. After the Mass, we will celebrate the Blessed Mother’s Birthday with cake and refreshments in the garden (weather permitting). We will have birthday balloons for the children. This Sunday at the 12pm Mass 9/10/17 After this Mass, we will celebrate with music, a luncheon and plenty of balloons for the children. The event is sponsored by the Hijas de Maria (Daughters of Mary). SECOND COLLECTION THIS WEEKEND This weekend, there will be a second collection for the Catholic Home Missions and The Church in Latin America. Thank you for your generosity. RELIGIOUS EDUCATION REGISTRATION CCD classes have begun, there is still time to regis-ter. All public school children should be registered for Religious Education beginning in September. Please bring Baptismal Certificate, birth certificate if not Baptized and $60 registration fee per child, $100 per family. Religious Ed will be held on Saturday’s at 2:00 p.m., followed by Mass at 4:00 p.m. All parents must accompany children to Mass. This is mandatory as is a monthly parent Faith Formation workshop to assist in home Catechesis. SPECIAL MASS FRIDAY SEPT. 15 AT 7PM There will be a special Mass for Our Lady of Sorrows in Spanish on this day. All are welcome to attend!

BAPTISM / WEDDING REGISTRATIONS Baptism registrations will be taken in the vestibule after the 12pm Mass or any weekday in the Rectory. Please bring child’s birth certificate. We encourage couples who are civilly married and couples thinking of marriage to stop by the rectory and speak with Fr. Anderson. Thank you.

PARISH REGISTRATION St. Anthony’s Church welcomes all newcomers! We encourage every parishioner to register and use your weekly envelopes. This helps us know how many active parishioners we have as well as facilitating letters requested by you. We can not attest to you attending Mass if you are not registered and we do not know who you are. Please ask the ushers for a registration card, complete it and drop it in the collection basket or stop by the rectory during regular business hours. Thank you. GOD’S WATCHERS In the ancient world watchmen were extremely important people. They kept communities safe, and were there to alert them to any impending danger or attack. Before locks, alarms, and security systems, watchmen were the protectors, the safety measure. So when the Lord charges Ezekiel as a watchman today, it is a weighty charge. So weighty, we learn, that if Ezekiel fails to sound the alarm for those around him and they perish in a state of wickedness, Ezekiel will be held responsible! This profound connection between God’s will on earth and in heaven is repeated in today’s Gospel, where Jesus instructs us that we are to be the security force, the watchers placed on alert that nowhere in the Body of Christ, the church, will there be any two members of the one Body who are not reconciled. Scripture tells us that Jesus reconciled all things in heaven and on earth through the blood of his cross. But we are given the mission to continue that reconciliation on earth as in heaven through our ceaseless efforts to be, as Paul would write, ambassadors of reconciliation. Let us not get too comfortable thinking that we are responsible only for keeping our own lives from the path of wickedness and disagreement. celestial se los concederá”. — Mateo 18:19 HIJAS DE MARIA Usted esta invitado a unirse con las Hijas de Maria para la Misa este sabado a las 4pm el 9 de septiembre 2017. Despues de la Misa estaremos celebrando el cumpleaño de la Virgen Maria en el jardin (si el clima lo permite). Habra bizcocho (pastel), refrescos y globos para los niños. Este domingo en la Misa de las 12pm, el 10 de septiembre, despues de la Misa, estaremos celebrando con musica, almuerzo para todos, y globos para los niños. El evento es auspiciado por las Hijas de Maria. SEGUNDA COLECTA ESTE FIN DE SEMANA Este fin de semana habra una segunda colecta para el llamado para las Misiones Católicas y La Iglesia en América Latina. Gracias por su generosidad. CENTINELAS DE DIOS En el mundo de la antigüedad los centinelas eran gente de gran importancia. Mantenían la seguridad de las comunidades y su deber era alertarles sobre cualquier peligro o ataque inminente. Antes de que hubiera cerrojos, sistemas de alarma y seguridad, los centinelas eran los protectores, la medida de seguridad. Así que cuando hoy el Señor le encarga a Ezequiel ser centinela, es un cargo de peso. Tan pesado, se nos hace conocer, que si Ezequiel falla y no da la voz de alarma a los que le rodean y ellos mueren en estado de maldad, ¡Ezequiel será el responsable! Este profundo vínculo entre la voluntad de Dios en la tierra y en el cielo se repite en el Evangelio de hoy, donde Jesús nos instruye que tenemos que ser la fuerza de seguridad, los centinelas colocados en estado de alerta para que en ninguna parte del Cuerpo de Cristo, la Iglesia, haya dos miembros del único Cuerpo que no estén reconciliados. La Sagrada Escritura nos dice que Jesús reconcilió todas las cosas en el cielo y en la tierra mediante la sangre de su cruz. Pero se nos da la misión de continuar esa reconciliación en la tierra por medio de nuestros incesantes esfuerzos de ser, como escribiera Pablo, embajadores de reconciliación. No nos quedemos muy cómodos pensando que nuestra única responsabilidad es mantenernos fuera del camino de la maldad y la discordia.
