Thursday 11 th October 2018 – Issue 15 WELCOME BACK Welcome back to what is tradionally a very busy Term for both students and staff. Hopefully everyone had a great holiday. TERM 4- NO HAT NO PLAY Just a reminder to parents that during Term 4 all students need to wear a broad brimmed hat during recesses and lunchmes. We want to protect students from the potenally harmful effects of UV rays. We do have a No Hat, No Playpolicy which requires children without a hat to stay indoors, but this is rarely necessary because most children understand the need for sun protecon. 2019 ENROLMENTS If for any reason your child will not be aending Rollins in 2019 please call the office to advise us. It is vitally important that we have accurate numbers of children aending next year so that we can start planning our classes and school organisaon. GEELONG CUP PUBLIC HOLIDAY Please note that Wednesday, 24 th October is Geelong Cup Day which is a scheduled public holiday in the City Of Greater Geelong. It is important to be aware that as a school we do not have any choice in this maer and apologise for any inconvenience this may cause. This week is Assembly Week Prep Music Performance STAFF MOVEMENT During the holidays, Mandy McEwen has accepted a posion at East Geelong Primary School. I would sincerely like to thank Mandy for her contribuon to the learning environment at Rollins over the past 2 years, where she was an important part of our 5/6 team. We have been fortunate to secure Mr Paul Cornell for the remainder of the 2018 school year. Paul brings much experience and we welcome him to the Rollins community. WORLD TEACHERSDAY – Monday, 5 October 2018 World Teachers' Day offers a chance to acknowledge our teachers and say thanks. Every day, teachers are making a difference educang and inspiring young Australians. World Teachers' Day, is celebrated in more than 100 countries world-wide and was established by the United Naons Educaonal, Scienfic and Cultural Organisaon (UNESCO) in 1994 to celebrate the role of teachers in society. This year World Teachers day fell during the school holidays. I would like to publicly thank my teachers for the great work they do at Rollins PS every day. We are extremely lucky to have such a talented group of people guiding our children. ROLLINS FUNDRAISER-TEA TOWELS (Creang Lasng Memories!) Our limited edion tea towels will be the major fundraiser during Term 4. The tea towels feature self-portraits drawn by our children and staff. The pictures and names will be arranged together as a commemorave design. There will be two categories of towels available- Prep-Grade 2 and Grade 3-6. Order forms will be distributed this week. A sample Tea Towel is on display in the main hallway outside the office. WELCOME BACK Welcome back to what is traditionally a very busy Term for both students and staff. Hopefully everyone had a great holiday.

Indonesian Danniella Haintz For being an enthusiastic helper in the Indonesian lessons.

Congratulations to our staff members who played basketball at the 23rd Teacher’s Games held in Ballarat during the first few days of the Term 3 holidays. The competition was fierce on court and all members played their part throughout the day. The Rollins Rock-ets won four of their five games, going down by just one point in their only loss and therefore was enough to earn the silver medal. A big congratulations to all that competed—onwards and upwards for next year.

SCHOLASTIC BOOK CLUB Issue 7 has been distributed this week.
