1 ROLE SPECIFICATION Development Administrator (part-time) Morrison‟s Academy is a co-educational independent school for children from the age of 3 to 18 years. Set within the attractive market town of Crieff, Morrison‟s Academy looks out on stunning countryside and yet is only an hour‟s drive from Edinburgh and Glasgow. The ethos of the school is shaped by high expectations, toleration, courtesy and respect for others, and regard for ethical and moral values. A combination of modern and traditional teaching and learning opportunities provide young people with the knowledge and skills to lead successful and well- balanced lives. In partnership with parents we encourage our young people to develop their full potential, academically and personally. Excellent pastoral care, concern for the individual pupil and a wide range of co-curricular activities also contribute much to our friendly, purposeful atmosphere and sense of community. Role of the Development Administrator Our vision is to provide greater access for talented children from all backgrounds through the provision of means-tested bursaries, to create a revitalised campus with first-class facilities and to engage a global community of former pupils and friends. The mission of the Development Office is to connect with and engage the widest community of former pupils and friends using a mix of marketing, communication and events in order to encourage a long- term culture of regular giving. The Development Administrator will support the Director of Development and Alumni Relations in all aspects of fundraising and development work for Morrison‟s Academy to raise non-fee income and to build a network of strong relationships among parents, staff, former pupils and other friends and supporters. The Development Administrator will be expected to work as an integral part of the Morrison‟s Academy team and take an active part in the life of the School. Qualifications Essential Versatile, resourceful, reliable and enthusiastic individual with excellent communication skills and a „can do‟ attitude Strong computer skills and familiarity with MS Windows-based applications, particularly Word, Excel and databases A co-operative and flexible approach to work and the ability to manage a varied workload. Experience of office procedures Desirable Experience of working with the Raiser‟s Edge database or similar donor management system Previous experience of working within a fundraising environment An understanding of development best-practice within the independent schools sector Reports to: Director of Development & Alumni Relations Hours of work: The role is part-time, 25 hours per week; flexible working hours can be considered. Occasional evening and weekend work will be required. Leave Entitlement: The annual leave year runs concurrently with the academic session. The full- time annual leave entitlement is 33 days. This comprises 20 days annual leave and 13 public holidays. In addition, you will be entitled to one week of the October half-term holidays and the whole of the John Smith holiday. All public holidays are taken over the Christmas closed period. For part-time positions, leave entitlement is calculated on a pro-rata basis.

Salary Scale: Basic salary will be linked to the Morrison‟s Academy Support Staff Pay Scale. This is reviewed annually.

Primary functions of the Development Administrator

Database Administration

1. Develop a thorough knowledge of the structure and functionality of the “Raiser‟s Edge” database acting as key user overseeing enhancements and developments;

2. Maintain the database with names and address changes and other data updates and work to populate gaps within the database using appropriate technology and data gathering techniques;

3. Input all constituent data and other relevant information accurately and consistently; 4. Produce queries, templates and reports as required; 5. Produce segmented lists for targeted mailing and email communication; 6. Process payments for events managed by the Development Office and manage guest lists; 7. Process all donations received and maintain a Gift Aid recording and filing system, managing

periodic Gift Aid claims and reports for the Finance Committee.

Fundraising and Communication Administration

1. Manage mailings and electronic communications to donors and other constituencies;

2. Ensure all donors are thanked and stewarded; bank all monies received;

3. Assist with Annual Giving, Major Gift and Legacy fundraising programmes;

4. Manage periodic „wealth-screening‟ of prospects and assist in prospect research, evaluation and management.

Events Administration

1. Ensure the Raiser‟s Edge database and the website is updated with all data related to events; 2. Assist in event coordination and provide support for fundraising and cultivation events with

attendance as necessary.

Secondary functions: 1. To answer calls to the Development Office in at courteous and timely manner; 2. Comply with the individual responsibilities imposed by the Health and Safety at Work Act (1974)

and the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations (1999) and co-operate with Management to promote a positive attitude towards Health & Safety at Work taking all reasonably practicable steps to prevent personal injury or injury to others.

This role specification is intended to convey a broad outline of the position and responsibilities of the Development Administrator. It is not definitive and will be mutually reviewed and developed as the role evolves.
