Board Traineeship
Board Traineeship Program Objectives:
To develop skills, experience and knowledge in advocacy and representation among young women in the YWCA Adelaide through active participation in the Board governance process.
To support young women during their leadership journey by providing strategic training and development experiences.
The Board Traineeship Program contribution expectations:
Attendance at approximately one meeting/event per month over a 12 month period, including:
80% meetings of the Board At least one meeting of each of the Board sub-committees:
o Nominationso Fundraising
At the end of placement, to give a short presentation to the Board on the experience and how it has been/will be shared with YWCA Adelaide members.
Benefits of the Board Traineeship Experience Attend and observe Board Meetings, and ask questions of Board Members in a supportive
environment. Gain a thorough understanding of governance including financial and issues management Receive
invites to YWCA Adelaide events, including a complimentary ticket to the She Leads Conference.Help shape YWCA Adelaide policy and direction through participation in strategic planning activities.
Criteria for selectionEssential:
Must be current financial member of YWCA Adelaide at the time of applying for the traineeship. Between 18 and 30 years of age by the time of submitting an application. Must have completed the YWCA Adelaide board training program prior to submission of the
application, or be willing to attend the next occurring YWCA board training program. Must be able to commit to attending Board meetings, subcommittee meetings and events as
required. Must commit to sharing the experience gained with the YWCA Adelaide membership during and
following the traineeship. A desire to learn and professionally develop, while contributing to the growth of others. A demonstrated strong commitment and passion in achieving women’s rights and leadership.
Desirable: Applicants should be able to demonstrate strong interest and enthusiasm in the YWCA movement
through a minimum of two years active involvement with the YWCA Adelaide through their expression of interest and short question answers.

Selection Process
All applications will be reviewed by the Nominations Committee using the above criteria. Interviews may be conducted with short listed candidates during September and will be either by telephone or in person.
The successful applicant will be announced at the AGM on 29th October 2015
