NeedAlzheimer’s disease costs patients, Medicare

or other types of insurance agency's up to $148 billion dollars a year and for patients 65 and older it will triple healthcare costs. In America alone 5.3 million people live with Alzheimer's. Alzheimer's is also the seventh leading cause of death.

Literature Review

(Wu et, al, 2006)

This shows the difference between a untreated amaloid b compared to a Egb-fed

Literature ReviewGinko Biloba is well

known for supporting brain function. (Colman 2001)

Journal of the American Medical Association found that 120 mg of ginko can improve brain function.

Literature Review(Ercoli, 2006 et al) found

that significant improvement was shown by verbal and memory impaired patients using the ginko berry leaf

PurposeTo determine if ginkgo biloba amyloid, freeze dried black raspberries and freeze dried blueberries has an effect on Alzheimer dieses in C. elegans.

Null hypothesis is that no effect will occur when ginkgo biloba amyloid, freeze dried black raspberries and freeze dried blueberries ware added.

The Alternative hypothesis is that ginkgo biloba amyloid, freeze dried black raspberries and freeze dried blueberries

Hypothesis

Methodology The Effect of Ginkgo Biloba Amyloid, Freeze Dried Black Raspberries and Freeze Dried Blueberries on the suppression of Amaloid B in C. elegans

C. Elegans (CL2006) strainf and given a 10 % solution of Ginkgo Biloba N=?

C. Elegans ( CL2006 strain) will be given a 10% solution of Freeze dried Black raspberries

N=?

C. Elegans (CL2006 strain) will be given a 10 % solution of Freeze Dried Blueberries N= ?

C. Elegans will be fed with 100 ul spots of e. coli (OP5O) on nematode growth medium and c. elegans will be cultured a 20 degrees C

Results will be taken from visual analysis of C. elegans under a microscope.

C. Elegnas ( Cl 2006 strain with no solutions N= ?

(Control)

C. Elegnas with amaloid b and ginkgo biblia solution (Experimental)

Protocols for MeasurementGrown on NGM and C. elegans (control and

CL2006) will be fed with E. Coli (OP5O) with 100 ul spots.

Ginkgo Biloba Amyloid, Freeze Dried Black Raspberries and Freeze Dried Blueberries will be given in the NGM in a 10 % solution to both the CL2006 strain and the control strain

Protocols for Measurement (cont)

All solutions will be given for one day at a time and analysis will be analyzed after 2 days.

Analysis will be compared ( under a microscope) to the number of normal and the number of paralyzed c. elegans

Do- ability C. elegans and chemicals are easy to buyMuch of the equipment is already in the labChemicals are easily applied to C. elegans
