*$650 is the expected total cost inclusive of all activities, accommodation, transport and food for a five day camp. This amount per child per annum is therefore dependent and directly related to the effort and energy of the fundraising.
Prior to camp, payment plans may be negotiated with the Principal.
Payment will be requested during the school year when costs and participation by students is confirmed

R U OK? DAY
RACKING UP THE RAKS
This term, the Health and Well Being Action Team have been spreading happiness, positive vibes and warm fuzzy feelings by sprinkling RAKs where ever we go. A RAK is a Random Act of Kindness.
We have made little cards with positive quotes to give out at play times and even hidden kind messages in library books. Last week we hosted a morning tea for all the staff to show that we appreciate their hard work and dedication to our learning.
We encourage you to show RAKs every day because it makes others feel appreciated and gives them a boost. You will also feel so much joy as you show kindness.
Thursday 13 September, was R U OK? DAY.
The Cultural Awareness Action Team handed out yellow woollen wrist bands to staff and students and encouraged them to start a conversation with others.
Students designed colourful posters that were displayed throughout the school with some great messages for all. One of our favourite slogans was,
You don’t have to be a super hero
to help a friend!
AUTHOR & ILLUSTRATOR VISIT
On Thursday 6 September, the Year Two to Five students were treated to a special visit from illustrator Marc McBride and author Phil Kettle.
Marc McBride is best known for his illustrations in the Deltora Quest series. Marc worked with students talking about the art basics of colour, light, line and shape while painting a large dragon which he gave to the school to display in the library. At the end of his presentation he taught students how to draw their own dragon.
During the author workshop Phil Kettle, who has written several book series including Girlz Rock, Boyz Rule and TooCool, shared with students his inspiration for writing. Phil then worked with students to plan and write a short story.
All students thoroughly enjoyed the visit and teachers saw a new enthusiasm for writing and, in particular, dragon artwork.

INTERSCHOOL JUMPS AND ATHLETICS CARNIVALS
Over two days in week four, Roebuck Primary School took a team of athletes to St Mary’s College to compete in Interschool Jumps and Athletics.
All our athletes tried their very hardest with some outstanding individual results:
Isaac C - Year 2 Boys R/U Champion
Kayla S - Year 3 Girls R/U Champion
Mac D - Year 3 Boys R/U Champion
Lachlan H - Year 4 Boys R/U Champion
Minaki C - Year 5 Boys R/U Champion
Roebuck Primary School were placed 5th overall and Mr M was super proud of the good behaviour and sportsmanship displayed by our students.
KINDY SPORTS CARNIVALS
In week seven, the Kindy classes participated in their
first ever Sports Carnival. Even the first rain of the
season couldn't dampen the spirits of these little
athletes!
As you can see there were big smiles and excitement
galore amongst our little ones....and I think a few
parents may have enjoyed themselves too!
After the carnival the students enjoyed a picnic with
their family to celebrate Father’s Day.
Thank you to all the parents who joined in the carnival
and made it such a fun experience for their children.

YEAR SIX CAMP
What was your favourite part of the Year 6 camp?
My favourite part of camp was rock climbing at the camp school. It was challenging and you could jump off something that was high. Jake
My favourite part of camp was the cruise of Roebuck Bay with Cameron Birch and the Broome Whale Watching crew. We got to see many dolphins and it was a good experience. Bonnie
My favourite part of camp was doing the tie dying. I got to learn how to make a really cool tie dye shirt. I love my shirt. Cindy
My favourite part of camp was going for a fat bike ride along Cable Beach with my group. I had a lot of fun riding down the beach with friends. I loved riding down the sand dunes at a fast speed. Tom
My favourite part of camp was the boogie boarding at the beach. I caught so many waves and got to spend lots of time with my friends. Madison
My favourite part of camp was the prusiking at the camp school with Carl because it was challenging and you had to work with other people to get up the rope to the pilar. David
I liked the archery at the camp school because I have always watched movies of people shooting arrows and I’ve always wanted to do it. Mackenzie
I would probably say rock climbing because it was a new challenge that I hadn’t faced before and it was a fun experience Lachlan
My favourite part was going to the beach and using the paddle boards and boogie boards because it was fun and I love going to the beach. I also got to hang out with all my friends and catch waves while there. Brandon
My favourite part of camp was the museum because I liked learning more about Broome. Dann
My favourite thing was the movie night (Christopher Robin) because everything ran smoothly and I got to help hand out popcorn. Carlia
I really liked the stargazing activity with Greg Quicke because I got to learn about the stars and asteroids. I also really enjoyed looking at the stars in the dark and the bus ride was really fun. Phoenix
The camp was a great team experience. Everybody learnt about how to work better as a team. We all had to challenge ourselves and get out of our comfort zone. Trigg
The 2018 year 6 camp was amazing but one of the highlights for me was raft building. I loved working as a team and challenging ourselves to learn new skills. Ruby
My favourite thing was prusiking because prusiking was easy but when I went down by myself I found it a bit more challenging. Artie
My favourite thing at camp was rock climbing, because it was challenging and felt really good when you got to the top. Shine
My favourite thing was fat bikes because it was challenging but fun going up and down the sand dunes. Max
