1909 The company is founded in Hede-husene, Denmark, by Valdemar Kähler

& H.J. Henriksen 1938 Start of production in Larvik, Norway 1954 Deutsche Rockwool starts production in

Gladbeck, Germany 1962 Rockfon acoustic ceilings are introduced 1969 Grodan horticultural substrates are added

to the product range 1971 Rockwool Lapinus in Roermond, Holland,

today the world’s largest stone wool manufacturer, is acquired

1979 The Group builds a new factory in Bridgend, Wales, United Kingdom

1980 New-built factory in St. Eloy-les-Mines, France

1988 First factory outside Europe: Roxul Inc. in Ontario, Canada

1991 Establishment in Eastern Europe. The stone wool factory in Flechtingen in the former GDR is acquired

1993 Poland’s largest stone wool factory is acquired

1995 The Group acquires a stone wool factory in Malkinia in Eastern Poland
