The popular RockShox Reba suspension fork is new and improved, and ready to hit the trail! Didn’t think that RockShox could top the proven Reba? We took an awesome fork and made it even better. First, Reba rolls out an entirely new chassis. As seen on several other RockShox forks, Reba now features Power Bulges that add stiffness, durability, and consistency to the chassis. The magnesium lowers now utilize a post disc brake mount. The hollow crown is forged of a proprietary AL66 TV material, providing light weight with increased stiffness and strength. Upper tubes are constructed from 32mm, 7000 series straight wall aluminum tubes and then completed with a low friction anodized finish. All Reba models are available for both 26” and 29” wheels. Both wheel sizes will also offer either a standard QR, or the all new Maxle Lite option based on the existing 20x110mm thru axle standard. With available travel from 80 to 120mm, Reba provides both wheel sizes with the options they need for XC and Trail riding. All Reba models receive a brand new damper. Reba SL and Reba Race get a fresh new Motion Control, while Reba Team is upgraded to a BlackBox Motion Control damper. The new BlackBox Motion Control damper is built upon the foundation of the original Motion Control. It features a titanium spring tube as well as Dual Flow compression and rebound. External adjustments are detented. Crown adjust forks uti- lize a carbon fiber compression knob, while forks using a remote have a new ‘Nip-Tuck’ spool that hides excess cable for a cleaner look. All Reba forks will feature a significantly revamped Dual Air system. Improvements are focused on further reducing friction, while providing a more linear spring rate. Dual Air gives riders the ability to indepen- dently adjustable positive and negative air spring chambers. The result is a very light and highly tunable spring system. Elixir R provides more control, more power, more comfort, resulting in exceptional ride quality and ultimately, speed. Elixir R answers the braking performance needs of every mountain bike rider; Cross Country, Trail, All-Mountain, Freeride and Downhill. Greg ‘HB’ Herbold loves the new Elixir R: “I can use this brake on all my various bikes, whether I go trail hunting or full out freeriding. The braking power is just perfect and strong, yet provides intuitive control.“

More control! This is achieved through new Taperbore technology and improved pivot location. The new pivot location enables less initial power, and deep stroke modulation, allowing the rider to better manage and use the increased overall power. In other words as you grab the lever and move it towards the handlebar, it’s natural and effortless. The Elixir R design eliminates the need for an independent reservoir, leading to a new sleek integrated brake lever. A positive side effect to the integrated reservoir is major weight reduction. At a target weight of 375 grams* the Elixir R weighs 20 grams less than the current Juicy 7.

More power! The increased stopping power of the Elixir R is created by a new, super stiff, two-piece caliper containing larger pistons. The larger pistons produce overall power that sits halfway between Juicy and Code. The newest member of the Avid hydraulic brake family provides more heat resistance by incorporating the new two-piece caliper design and DOT 5.1 brake fluid.

More comfort! Avid hydraulic brakes are known for ergonomics, easy han-dling and service. The Elixir R features a tool-free reach adjust allowing the lever to be adjusted for various sized hands perfectly. Maintenance and service is child’s play. The sintered brake pads are now loaded from the top, so it takes only seconds to replace them. The Elixir R is also MatchMaker compatible and combines with a variety of SRAM triggers and/or the RockShox Pushloc remote to create the most elegant and refined cockpit in the moun-tain bike world.

Elixir CR provides more control, more power, more comfort, resulting in exceptional ride quality and ultimately, speed. Elixir CR answers the braking performance needs of every mountain bike rider; Cross Country, Trail, All-Mountain, Freeride and Downhill. The new Elixir CR features a totally new, in-line Pad Contact adjustment. This tool free adjustment allows riders to adjust the point in the levers throw where the pads contact the rotor. Thus the name. It does two simple but important things. First, it enables you to perfectly match your hand’s comfort with the brakes pow-er. It also allows you to balance both levers so the pads engage the rotors in the same spot. No more uneven brake levers.

More control! This is achieved through new Taperbore technology and improved pivot location. The new pivot location enables less initial power, and deep stroke modulation, allowing the rider to better manage and use the increased overall power. In other words as you grab the lever and move it towards the handlebar, it’s natural and effortless. The Elixir CR design eliminates the need for an independent reservoir, leading to a new sleek integrated brake lever. A positive side effect to the integrated reservoir is major weight re-duction.

More power! The increased stopping power of the Elixir CR is created by a new, super stiff, two-piece caliper containing larger pistons. The larger pistons produce overall power that sits halfway between Juicy® and Code™. Elixir CR calipers also feature an adjustable banjo. The adjustable banjo allows the user to change the angle of the brake line, and provide the cleanest routing. The newest member of the Avid hydraulic brake family provides more heat resistance by incorporating the new two-piece caliper design and DOT 5.1 brake fluid.

More comfort! Avid hydraulic brakes are known for ergonomics, easy handling and service. The Elixir CR features a tool-free reach adjust allowing the lever to be adjusted for various sized hands perfectly. Maintenance and service is child’s play. The sintered brake pads are now loaded from the top, so it takes only seconds to replace them. RockShox® BoXXer® - Be Faster

For more information, please contact:US: Eric Schutt, MTB PR Manager [email protected]: Elmar Keineke, MTB Technical PR Coordinator [email protected] Page 1/3

It’s lighter, more precise and ultimately faster. Increased confidence and control with decreased weight. The most successful downhill fork of all time is now all new for the first time in its storied history.

Lighter - Lighter is always better. BoXXer achieves its light weight through a detailed study of where the actual forces are applied on a DH fork. By using the larger 35mm upper tubes to carry the strength, the steerer tube can be lightened. Maximizing the material properties of the upper tubes allows the tubes to be thin and strong. BoXXer’s new forged crowns use less material on the arms, while maintaining strength and stiffness by incorporating trussing. The new MaxleTM Lite DH pulls out 28g while being more robust than its predecessor. Add all this to a new spring and damper featuring aluminum shafting to create the ultimate light weight DH fork.

More Precise - A new 35mm chassis creates the perfect stiffness balance for Downhill riding. Turn the bars and the BoXXer will go where you want. Hit a bump and the fork will move into its suspension move-ment instead deflecting and providing too much feedback to your hands. Maxle Lite DH allows for greater expansion forces, creating a more robust junction from wheel to fork. The perfect balance equals more precision.

Faster - Increased Control – The new Mission Control DH with Dual Flow adjust compression and rebound provides the ability to get Velcro® like front wheel traction. Dial in detailed settings for all riding conditions and styles through external adjustments for high and low speed compression and beginning and ending stroke rebound. Mission Control DH’s high displacement, shimmed valving allows for a butter smooth transi-tion between circuits, giving the BoXXer that “stuck to the ground” feeling.

BlackBox® riders consistently ask for spring curves that have an increased ending ramp, helping them to keep from hitting bottom. To help the fastest riders in the world become faster the new BoXXer has two new systems to create an increased ending ramp, air volume adjust on Solo AirTM and Drop Stop for the Team coil.

Solo Air w/air volume adjust – by changing the volume of the solo air spring chamber the amount of ending ramp can be changed. Depressurize the solo air, turn the air volume adjust clockwise, re-pressurize and you’ve increased your ending ramp.

DropStop – featured in the BoXXer Team uses a MCU in the center of the spring to smooth the transition between the spring rate and the bottom out pad. Turn the adjuster on the top of the left leg and change how soon the DropStop kicks in.

Born from BlackBox® - What better way to put a new product thru it’s paces, than to let the worlds fastest racers race on it? RockShox historically has the fastest racers on the globe, but only the most elite make up the BlackBox Racing squad. Sam Hill, Greg Minnaar, Steve Peat and Nathan Rennie raced on preproduction BoXXer forks this year, and their direct feedback went straight back into the development team. In fact, the BlackBox BoXXer podiumed at every race this year, and won the first race it ever entered (Sam Hill at Worlds test event) and has won 5 out of 6 World Cups so far (Hill 2 and Minnaar 3).

Steve Peat, “The first time I got to ride the new BoXXer was in Spain in February 2008 and I couldn’t believe how RockShox could have improved on something already so good! The fork was lighter which I noticed straight away and then once I got a few runs in I realized how well I was turning and how easily I could stick the front end on to any line I chose. I think most of this came from the stiffness gained from the 35mm stanchions. Since the first time I tested, we have been able to improve on settings at each race so the fork has gone from strength to strength. Thanks BlackBox team, another job well done.”

Greg Minnaar, “The new BoXXer is stiffer, lighter, plusher, and easy to adjust...the perfect com-bination to be fast.”

Sam Hill, “The new BoXXer feels excellent through corners and G outs and feels smooth the whole way through the travel.”

Nathan Rennie, “When I first saw the new BoXXer, I had a grin from ear to ear. It just looked right and I couldn’t wait to get it on the track. I went all out and could feel the difference even on the first run. Over that day, my confidence and line selection became unreal and I simply didn’t want to give it back.”

Simply put, BoXXer has enjoyed a long history of racing and winning. Since 1997, BoXXer has earned 56 World Cup Downhill victories, and 346 Top 5 podiums.

SRAM Rival SEES (hints of) REDCompetitive Rival level groupset takes cues from top-level innovation leader

SRAM Rival is the newest road group from the company that has been driv-ing innovation for 21 years. It’s obvious the polished black anodized finish of the new Rival sets it apart, but that’s only the beginning. Borrowing from SRAM’s professional level RED group, Rival now features a sleek carbon brake lever, zero-loss shifting, multiple cable routing options, and reach adjust for both the shift and brake levers.

The new carbon brake lever lightens the control by 40 grams, delivers better tactile feel, and just looks pro. The zero-loss front shifting engages shifts immediately and can be found on Rival front only. Additionally, Rival moves the front trim position to the big ring. Added cable routing op-tions allows for both brake and shifter cables to run along the front of the handlebar.

SRAM’s popular reach adjust feature, available on all of SRAM’s DoubleTap shift levers, allows riders to customize their SRAM brake and shift levers for a perfect fit.

SRAM introduced OCT (Open Core Technology) into MTB and then brought it to road. Now it’s lighter, stiffer and sexier in the new Rival line-up. The hollow-forged aluminum cranks lose 40 grams from its predecessor, and comes in 110 and 130 BCD. Crank lengths range from 165 to 180cm.

The competitive level Rival gruppo saves 214 grams over Shimano’s Ulte-gra SL, 357 grams over Ultegra triple, and costs more than $380 less at an MSRP of $919.

SRAM Comfort Componentry – simplifying cyclingSRAM’s Internal Gear Hubs - The technology behind the fun

The bicycle started out as simple transport but has evolved into a highly sophisticated and oftentimes overly complicated machine. SRAM has brought the simplicity and fun back with our easy to use low-maintenance Internal Gearhubs, which include a wide range of systems perfect for every condition and any rider. The Internal GearHub (IGH), where the bike’s gearing is located inside the rear hub as opposed to externally mounted derailleurs, keeps the bike clean, simple, and allow anyone rediscover the bicycle as a environmentally-friendly, healthy, and affordable means of getting around. Oh, and often-times it’s faster than a car.

World’s first nine-speed internal gearhub featuring con-sistent gear change ratios from 1 to 9. Smooth twist or trigger shifting, large gear range for going up and down hills, comfortable shift steps, and shifting under load or when stopped.

Three speeds with coaster brake, it’s the option for those who remember the fun of three speed bikes and want to keep it simple.

When you are commuting or training early or late, a SRAM hub dynamo means safety and smooth function with a complete 5.4 watt front and rear light system to help you see what needs to be seen. The i-Light D7 is equipped with a quick-release lever comes with high quality bearings for low rolling resistance and a choice of brake options.

Shifting and braking made simple with a one-sided shift lever that controls both the front and rear shifting. Nothing could be easier for anyone who wants a range of gears and a simple way to use them. There’s even pictures on the shifter to indicate what gear for what terrain.

SRAM BB30 brings RED to near 1800 grams Weight saving stiffness of BB30 redefines lightweight

A new international standard option to the bottom bracket market is the BB30, which delivers many advantages over the current 24mm’s. From noticeably improved stiffness to a narrower profile, several manufactur-ers have adopted this new option including Cannondale, Scott, and Kuota. SRAM will offer the oversized option this year as part of the RED gruppo, providing both crank and bottom bracket availability.

BB30 is basically an oversized bottom bracket shell which allows for Direct-fit, pressed-in bearings and a 30mm spindle. The system saves weight by accepting a 30mm aluminum spindle and eliminating cups that normally hold the bearings.

SRAM’s RED group, introduced in the fall of 2007, remains the lightest groupset in the world. And with the BB30 bearing option, we are closing in on the 1800 gram barrier (see chart). It was only one year ago that SRAM first cracked the sub-2000 gram barrier. With compact BB30 cranks and ceramic bearings RED will easily be the lightest gruppo ever assembled.
