SEN Assessment

• Consultation for places- if not on RSI we will send consultations via egress to the School Office with the title “FAO SENCO”. Please can SENCOs highlight this to their office to ensure the information gets through to the SENCO

• The statutory request form now requires a signature from the SENCO to authorise:“ If the LA agree to proceed with an assessment, I can confirm that the information provided in this request can be used as the educational advice towards the Statutory EHC needs assessment.”

• New Requests - reminder that information should be summarised on the Request Form. Professional advice should be attached where available but the key points should be included in the main body of the request. The additional reports will be used to clarify points and to add detail to the assessment and planning process.

Annual Reviews

• Must be held before anniversary of last review meeting

• Need to submit headteacher’s report to the LA within 10 working days or by end of term whichever is sooner

• Use to inform transfer to an EHC Plan

Transitional Plan – Year 2

• DfE guidance states the following Year Groups have to be transferred in Year 2: School leavers e.g. Year 11 Year 14 Year 9 Year 6 FS1

What is an Outcome?

• EHC plans must focus on E, H and C outcomes that will enable progress

• Distinction between aspirations and outcomes• ‘A benefit or difference made to an individual as a result

of an intervention’• Personal and ‘not expressed from a service perspective’

and not a description of a service being provided• What needs to be achieved by end of a phase or stage
