Robert's Thing for the MessengerAnd do this, understanding the present time.
The hour has already come for you to wake up from your slumber, because our salvation is nearer now than when we first believed.
NIV I have never considered myself to be a prophet, I do not think that I haveever said or written anything that could even remotely be thought of asprophetic...until today!
As I was beginning to write this article instead of September, I wrote Sleptember and since I wasplanning to once again return to that text from Romans- Ta-Da. The church is an interestinginstitution in that while other sleep it is in full gear and while others are in full gear it sleeps. Thesummer is coming to an end, I have seen the first leaves under the doors of the church. We aregetting ready to begin Sunday School, after a guest appearance in August the choir is gearing upand all kinds of other things are starting, restarting or seeing new beginnings. The reason that I bringthis up is not to encourage or guilt anyone, but to remind you that it is time to wake up. Wake up to the things that are going on around us and to say that a strong basis in Jesus is the bestthing to have so that you are ready no matter what comes. That is why I thought Sleptember wasprophetic. The way(s) of life around us call us to be ready. Call us to wake up to what is happeningand what might happen. I am not a end times kind of guy, but even I have to admit that salvation maybe closer than it was and that is why we need to wake up. Read the Word, know that Word and useit in our everyday lives. It is time for all of us to wake up and become the people that we have beencalled to be. Wake up to the needs of the world and the gifts that we bring to that world. Theopportunities are many, we need to be many too. It is not Sleptember anymore or ever again.

Hard to believe it is September already! Great news about it is that Youth Group is back! InSeptember, we will be returning to our weekly meetings Wednesday evenings from 7pm-8:30pm. We will be kicking off Youth Group on Wednesday, September 4th with our Music and PrayerStations! After that, we will talk about a few format changes for the year.
In July, a letter and survey were mailed out to all current youth group families. Please fill them out andsend them back in the stamped envelope that was included. So far I have received a completedsurvey from only one family. Everyone's voice matters and I would love to hear what you have to sayabout youth group as a parent or student. I am looking for chaperones for all of September. Please contact me if you are available to help. Itis such an amazing and rewarding experience watching students grow in their faith journey.
