Robert Lopez and Jeff Marx Original Concept, Music and Lyrics Robert shared a 2004 Tony Award with Jeff Marx for their score for Avenue Q. He won a Daytime Emmy Award in 2008 for his music on Nick Jr’s The Wonder Pets, and was nominated for a Primetime Emmy in 2007 for a song he co-wrote in a musical episode of the NBC sitcom Scrubs. His short adaptaion of the Pixar classic Finding Nemo: The Musical, co-written with his wife, Kristen Anderson-Lopez, plays (five shows a day) in Walt Disney World’s Animal Kingdom. Upcoming projects: Up Here, an original musical also written with his wife and commissioned by the Roundabout Theatre on Broadway; and an original show co-written with the creators of South Park. Jeff’s first job when he moved to New York City was being the intern in Cameron Mackintosh’s office. A few weeks into the job, he was fired. A few years later, he got a job being the intern at the production offices of Sesame Street. A few weeks into that job, he was fired. Both of these experiences were personally devastating to Jeff and, both times, he thought he’d never get over it. But about a decade later, things turned around when he co-wrote this musical, based somewhat on Sesame Street, and Cameron Mackintosh ended up producing it. Life sure is weird and unpredictable, huh? He is currently developing the libretto for a stage musical of Bring It On, hitting American theatres in the summer of 2010, as well as the libretto for a musical version of Tales of the City with music by Jake Shears and John Garden of Scissor Sisters.
