What needs to be done

• Growth rate of BRIC countries shifts the focus of research toemerging countries; New mantra of MNCs : ‘local’ for ‘local’

• Develop in students a “passion for technology”

• Partnership with Industry associations to improve the skill level of thestudents/faculty

• A few faculty should focus only on fostering a ‘research culture’without the responsibility for teaching/evaluations

• Upfront investment by Educational Institutions in Infrastructure and

Laboratories

• Shift the cooperation with Industries to a new level; free exchange of resources between Academia and Industry
