Job Description

POLICE OFFICER

Police Officers are responsible for enforcing the law.

Most spend the majority of their time either patrolling neighborhoods or on traffic duty.

Officers patrol areas on foot, motorcycle, bicycle, or in a police car.

SPORTS MARKETER

Sports marketers increase exposure for teams, sponsors, or causes. They attract large audiences to games and make sure they are entertained while they are there.

Working Descriptions

POLICE OFFICER

Working Environments vary by the landscape. They can be densely populated urban areas or remote rural regions, and everywhere in between.

Most Police Officers spend their time writing reports and maintaining records that may be needed in order to press charges and prosecute criminals in court.

SPORTS MARKETER

Marketers spend most of their time in offices, organizing, planning, and fundraising. They also travel to visit sponsors, team managers, and charities.

The job is not physically demanding, but can be mentally stressful.

Training and Qualifications

POLICE OFFICER

Candidates must be US citizens, meet minimum age requirements, have a valid driver’s license, and successfully complete physical and written exams.

A high school education is the minimum education required by many police departments. However a significant number of applicants are college graduates.

SPORTS MARKETER

You have to get a college degree in marketing, business, sport management, or sport administration.

Advancement Opportunity and Earnings

POLICE OFFICER

The more experienced you are the more opportunities you have for promotions and raises.

Experienced police officers make between $45,000 and $65,000 a year.

Sergeants make between $60,000 and $75,000 a year.

Lieutenants make between $65,000 and $80,000 a year.

Captains make between $75,000 and $95,000 a year.

SPORTS MARKETER

The more experienced you are the more opportunities you have for promotions and raises.

Account Assistant or Executive makes $30,000 to $45,000 a year.

Marketing Coordinator makes $35,000 to $60,000 a year.

Marketing Director makes $60,000 to $150,000 a year.

President’s make $100,000 to $200,000 a year or more

College Choice

LAKE SUPERIOR STATE UNIVERSITY (POLICE OFFICER)

Lake State offers one of the few law enforcement track programs in the state of Michigan.

This program allows Law Enforcement majors to obtain their police academy training while completing a Bachelors degree.

Students graduating from this program will leave the university MCOLES certifiable.

Tuition is $ 4,770 per semester.

AQUINAS COLLEGE (SPORTS MARKETER)

Aquinas provides students with the knowledge and background of a business degree.

In addition, students can gain hands on experience though internships.
