THE HIDEABOUT, LAKE ARIEL, PA.MARCH 2017—Page 3 Roamingwood Sewer and Water Association Master Plan Update Stage 2 construction is complete. Thank you for being patient and we look forward to working with the residents in Stage 3. Stage 3 home inspections are underway and we encourage all home owners to call our construction office and set up an appointment if you have not done so already. The inspection is the first of two appointments where the homeowner must provide access to the interior of the house. The inspection takes about ½ hour where we inspect the electrical panel and sewer system in the home to assess the compatibility with the new system. The second appointment is where we will install the control panel for the street side pump, or the new retrofit pump inside your home. This work will be scheduled as soon as the stage 3 contract is awarded which is scheduled for 2017. CONSTRUCTION AREAS AND WORK SCHEDULING Stage 3 (Remaining Areas) (as of August 2016) 1-20, 37-53, 125-133, 155-172, 174, 175, 298-315, 326-362, 407-456, 462- 610, 620-669, 684-752, 820-845, 1027- 1061, 1082-1103, 1126-1231, 1298- 1341, 1481-1484, 1516-1571, 1592- 1619, 1644-1655, 1713-1745, 1770- 1773, 1807-1857, 1885-1890, 1903- 2062, 2072-2147, 2264-2270, 2273- 2275 All Hideout homes within the project area, whether they currently have a sewage pump sys- tem or not, will require a pump to connect to the new low-pressure sewage system. Stale Ice Ever have problems with the cubes from your freezer’s ice- maker smelling bad? Ice cubes can absorb odors from uncovered food in the refrig- erator or freezer. Always store leftovers in containers with tight -fitting lids and double-wrap any strong-smelling items. Clean up food spills immediately. Also, check to see if a filter needs to be cleaned or replaced. New plumbing connections such as PVC pipes or fittings could also be causing the problem. Fill the icemaker bin several times (use the ice to water plants) until there’s no bad odor or taste. Is it unsafe to reuse plastic water bottles? It could be. Once saliva, sweat, and bacteria get inside the bottle, there’s no way to completely clean or sanitize it. Also, after extend- ed use and rewashing, the plastic starts to break down. That’s why commercial bottled water is stamped with a two-year (or less) expi- ration date. Although the water doesn’t really “expire”, it can ac- quire an off taste. Drought Watch Lifted for Wayne County The recent above average precipitation has led to the lifting of a three month- long drought watch for Wayne and several other Counties in PA. On 02/14/2017, the PaDEP Acting Secretary, Patrick McDonnell, lifted the drought watch that had been in effect since 11/03/2016. Stale Ice

Ever have problems with the cubes from your freezer’s ice-

maker smelling bad?

Ice cubes can absorb odors from uncovered food in the refrig-

erator or freezer. Always store leftovers in containers with tight

-fitting lids and double-wrap any strong-smelling items. Clean

up food spills immediately. Also, check to see if a filter needs

to be cleaned or replaced. New plumbing connections such

as PVC pipes or fittings could also be causing the problem.

Fill the icemaker bin several times (use the ice to water plants)

until there’s no bad odor or taste.

Is it unsafe to reuse plastic water bottles?

It could be. Once saliva, sweat, and bacteria get inside the bottle,

there’s no way to completely clean or sanitize it. Also, after extend-

ed use and rewashing, the plastic starts to break down. That’s why

commercial bottled water is stamped with a two-year (or less) expi-

ration date. Although the water doesn’t really “expire”, it can ac-

quire an off taste.
