IMPORTANT INFORMATION To ensure safe management of New Year’s Eve Jonson St will be closed from 6am on 31 December 2019 and will reopen at 8am on 1 January 2020. Community safety measures will be in place to ensure the town centre is safe for everyone welcoming in 2020. There are NO FIREWORKS or beachfront events on New Year’s Eve. This area will be patrolled by Byron Shire Council The Lighthouse Road (from the corner of Palm Valley Drive) will be closed from midnight 31 December 2019 – 8am 1 January 2020 Shuttle buses will run between Clarkes Beach and the Cape Byron Lighthouse from 4:30am – 8:30 on New Year’s Day. Soul St will run from 6:00pm – midnight. First Sun is Byron Bay’s New Year’s Day event where people meet at the Cape Byron Lighthouse to welcome the first break of day in 2020. It runs from 5am – 8:30am and offers guided meditation, yoga and crystal bowl soundscapes. The family-friendly event is a chance for visitors to start 2020 with conscious intention of peace, health and happiness. FALLS FESTIVAL Byron Bay town centre is an ALCOHOL FREE ZONE on New Year’s Eve and no alcohol will be allowed on the streets. On-the-spot fines may apply.
