100,000 Miles on a Harley

Wow 100,000 miles on my fatboy! Never thought Iwould say that. You see I didn't like Harley's as Iowned a "rice burner" I was teased by the Harleyriders, so I didn't want anything to do with Harleys.

Then one day Z decided he wanted a Harley so Isaid then you can buy me one also! What a shock tohim! So we ordered 2003 Harley's.

I went to the Waukon Harley shop to buy Z a T.shirt for Valentine's Day and went I entered theshowroom I saw a 2000 Fatboy with all the extra's on itthat I was going to put on the one I had ordered. I saidcancel my order I want that one!

What a wonderful eleven years it has been. Wehave met so many people and made everlastingfriendships, do to our Harley's.100,000 miles thru many states, whether it was hot, cold, rainy or snowing (yep snowing, really don't wantto do that again) we have so many good stories fromour many trips. And of course not so good stories. Youknow you have to have some yucky times to make thegood ones better. And no one remembers the ridesthat were non eventful!I even acquired a nickname or two, right Jimmy L.I have been a H.O.G. member for all of the 100,000miles and proud to be a member. The Waukon chapteris made up of good people that do good things.

I hope to retire in a year and half, so I should beable to get another 100,000 miles one faster than thelast 100,000.Being retired I can go check places out and let y'allknow where some more good places are to ride, or so Itell myself that is the reason, when we all know it's justcause I want to RIDE!Here's to 100,000 more miles with great friends, see

y'all on the road!Myrna

Harley 110th Celebration

What equals 3 days, 800+ miles, 6 dealerships, twofactory tours/visits and several fellow Harleyenthusiasts - a great time and experience to last atleast 5years! Need to mention there were over 400photos taken to commemorate the weekend! We took off Friday morning around 8:00 and rode toMilwaukee in hot and humid conditions. While trying tomake the 5 o'clock deadline to pick up our paradecredentials, a wave of storms came through Milwaukeewhich changed the weather to a comfortable level forthe remainder of our time there. Good thing the paradeorganizers worked late. Hate big city traffic!Friday night was spent at the Summerfest Grounds, walking through venders, visiting the HOG Hospitalityarea, planning the next day's activities, and seeingDierks Bentley.Saturday morning had us up early and heading to theparade staging at Miller Stadium. We met some greatpeople, saw some crazy ones! But everyone seemed tobe enjoying the festive event. The parade had us backto the summerfest grounds in about 30 minutes. Thiswas a much better experience than the parade for the90th. More vendors and a walk through the summerfestgrounds in the daylight, with a great view of LakeMichigan. With a "photo op" at a lighthouse, it was offto the Pilgrim Road plant and a couple more dealers. Each dealer visited had things goings from vendersand entertainment stages. The night ended back atsummerfest with concerts by Katy Siegel, ZZ Top, andHalestorm!Sunday took us to the Harley Davidson Museum, wegot there early but the crowd was building. Dave wasout of the museum in 2 hours that is how crowded itwas! Went downtown to have a picture with the "Ponz"and visited Veteran's Park - more vender displays. After visiting another dealer, we realized we had seen alot of things but decided it was time to leave the hustleand bustle of the big city and head back home. Rolledinto Oelwein about 11 PM.We had a great ride and weekend, were able to carrythe chapter flag in the parade, and kept very busytrying to take in as much as we could. Of course it alsoleft us looking forward to the next big celebration!

The Parking Ticket

I went to the store the other day, and I was in there foronly about five minutes. When I came out there was acop writing a parking ticket.

So I went up to him and said, "Come on, buddy, howabout giving a guy a break?" He ignored me andcontinued writing the ticket. So I called him a pencil-necked Nazi. He glared at me and started writinganother ticket for worn tires! So I called him a piece ofhorse shit. He finished the second ticket and put it onthe windshield with the first. Then he started writing athird ticket!

This went on for about 20 minutes ... the more I abusedhim, the more tickets he wrote. I didn't care. My bikewas parked ar;ound the corner.
